  • Hearing this after going through god knows what...*sigh*

  • I know I'm in a safe zone but why is my heart aching?

    Oh right, it's the Souls.

  • I love hearing this song because i know im safe and not going to die from an ambush or a one hit kill boss

  • @HotShot12689 I've had a skeleton just wander right up tp me at the bonfire once, and I never even went anywhere near the graves.

Scared the heck out of me..

    Bug?

  • @AttackMyAss More then likely but right now im pissed because my bonefire wont light (I know why but im not going to put any spoilers)

  • i like this game better than skyrim because its unique. Oblivion was just like Skyrim, Fallout was pretty much like Skyrim, Morrowind was like Skyrim. dark Souls was a game all on its own, the only game similar being its predecessor Demon's Souls. And the OST for this game is much better than Skyrim's. The people that says Skyrim's is better simply didnt listen properly.

  • @playstationextremist I agree, Skyrim's music was pretty generic, although I like the music during the night.

  • @AttackMyAss Skyrim has great music, that cannot be denied. i really like a few of the battle themes like tooth and claw. But Dark Souls is so much better. soundtracks are truly great if you can listen to them and love them ingame and out. Skyrim's OST falls sort if you're listening to it outside of the game.

  • imagine putting this on with you hang out with your friends after party when everyone is tired and drunk. that would be showing off your good taste in music and mood.

  • one of the best games ever nuf said

  • God bless Motoi Sakuraba

  • crying for good reason every once in a while will help keep you happy

  • Need happiness

  • Why does every NPC go hollow?!! WHY!!!!! *cries*

  • @tronerman solarie and sigmeare dont if you save them, in fact solair's last appearance is in the boss fight against gwyn.

  • @MrDeathnotefan98 I did save solaire 2X but siegmeyer dies when you saw his dauther looking upon his hollow corpse at ash lake..

  • @tronerman ah, there are multiple ways to help sigmire, either you kill all the octo demons and go speak to him, kill one and assist him with the other two, or let him kill them all, one of these results in him dieing.

  • @MrDeathnotefan98 ok. thanks for telling me a way to save sigmire. =)

  • imminent death ahead

    and a great song

  • praise the sun

  • To be honest I'm mostly disappointed about the lack of dialogue Gwyn, Nito, Seath and such had. They were given such an awesome introduction during the prologue, only to be silent bosses during the game. Truely a shame.

  • @TainanRed

    Insane monsters don't talk much.

  • @TainanRed you dont understand this game then. or youre too much of an oral person and need things told to you. this game is all about the intense emotions you get without needing words. hence the beautifully dark wordless music. the beautifully gloomy environment. the lack of brightness. the imposing speechless enemies (they wouldnt be so imposing and dark if they spoke). its a very depressing yet incredible game and thats what makes it genius.

  • @obadiahm You don't remember Garl Vinheim and Saint Astraea? The fact they spoke made the sadness surrounding their story all the more stronger. But I do agree, sometimes it'd be better not to have Character's speak. However... I'd rather learn story through voice acting than the Description on a ring or piece of armor.

  • @TainanRed well there are exceptions but nito definatly isnt one. neither is seath. gwyn might be though. and i prefer the description. again..too much talking is bad for this game. any other game id prefer the voice acting but this game is on its own level.

  • @Pepitobenito ehh idk..i think its a nice break from every other i game i play.

  • @obadiahm On the part of the game exhuming that sense of solitude and isolation, yes I agree. I just feel like more bits of story could have been explained, even through the use of visuals alone. It would be nice to see the fallout of your actions at the end of the game.

  • @Pepitobenito yeah..i guess thats true. more cinematics wouldve been nice.

  • @TainanRed i dont mind the fact that Nito and Seath didnt talk. It actually made them feel even more sinister. However, i wish that Gwyn would have atleast done something. Maybe so him stand up when you arrive to fight him. They should have had a cutscene for him is all im saying.

  • I've only just got past ornstein and smough in the game, but I honestly can remember the rage I felt when I saw that Goldy killed the shrine keeper. Soon as I got the orb and saw I had to go to Anor Londo to get my revenge on that backstabbing bastard I charged through sen's fortress, got myself a lightning zweihander and slammed that asshole into the ground. I should've never let him out : (

  • @harvmiester1 Ironically if you don't let him out he still kills Anastacia, but you don't get a medal. It is still worth it to free him.

  • Music makes me feel hopeless, desperate, and wishing the world could just stop for a few seconds so I can rest. Beautiful, just beautiful.

  • safe zone

  • kinda sad. after finishing a boss i come back to the only earea that isn't creepy as hell only to find that there's no less sorrow here than out in the rest of the game. The one place that's supposed to be your safe house isn't even a happy place. At one point i was so pissed with the game i killed every NPC i could get my hands on and afterwards the music just made it worse.

  • This song gives you a sense of loneliness and death, waiting for you right around every corner, in this fantastic gruesome dungeon crawler.

  • idc if this game get GOTY or not idc if it dosent win anything all i know is i played a really really amazing game that had a powerful soundtrack

  • Despair

  • I just found solaire for the second time in lost izalith, he was hollowed, so I had to end his misery, than I went back to the firelink shrine, only to sit at the bonfired depressed

    fucking Dark Souls

  • Imminent sadness =[

The thing about this song is that it's so connected to the hollow's suffering. Where as the Nexus theme in Demon's souls was calm and soothing, this is one of the saddest soundtracks I've ever heard inside of a video game.

It's even sadder when you're at the last bit of the game and all your NPC friends have died, hollowed or betrayed you. You hear this song while your all on your own in the shrine, and can do nothing but sit there and let the emotions overtake you T_T

  • I would love to see a movie to this game.

  • This really brings the sad, dark atmosphere of the game. I love these kind of setting soooo much. I love the medieval fantasy and dark setting. It's awesome.

  • I don't get why Loads of people keep saying how hard this game is. It's not hard at all, it's just old school.

  • @griddamus I agree, I just finished getting the Platinum for it earlier, beaten it almost four times now and it's all about trial and error. Once you succeed at killing something and you memorize it's attack patterns you won't have too many problems, some enemies can be unpredictable though, I'd still say it's a hard game overall but not too hard, amazing game.

  • Imminent tears ;_;

  • Why am I at work ?

Why god, why am I not a millionair or unemployed ?

Why can't I just stay home and play this ?

Why do I have to listen to this soundtrack which fills my heart with only one desire -

    PLAY THIS KICK-ASS GAME !

  • I always loved going to Firelink Shrine.

I felt somewhat safe from the chaos of the world that is Lordaron.

  • I battled my way through Undead Burg, down the depth, into Blighttown and finally upward back to firelink shrine... just to find that the damn bonfire was gone!!!

  • @EquinoxIV I know how that feels man, now i have to invade that motherfucker for revenge, but I don't know how to.

  • @UnderwaterWhale mild Spoiler ahead: you have to reach Anor Londo (ring both bells and through Sen's fortress). In the hall before the area boss you have to use that eye-thingy that you can find in the place of the missing fire keeper. Wear it as an item and you'll see when it gets usable. Invade and kill the mofo. Do not use the retreived fire keeper soul to improve your flasks!! but return it to firelink shrine.

  • @EquinoxIV So to get to Anor Londo you have to go through Sen's fortress? Thanks for the advice lol too bad Sen's fortress has been kicking the shit out of me whenever I go in there.

  • @UnderwaterWhale No sweat. Poison arrows go along way and backstab works also very well. So you just have to worry about the guillotine pendulums :-)

Then of course you still have to get past the dragon bow archers in Anor Londo. You'll know them when you see them!

  • @EquinoxIV hey where do you go after you ring the first bell ?

  • @30SECONDSREMAINING You got some options. Explore the forest (great armors, rings) or the catacombs (devine weapons help). Or travel back to the asylum. Or you use the basement key you probably found at that huge metal gate right after the boar to enter the basement (door at the bridge with the red dragon) - that would be the "official way" to the second bell.

  • @30SECONDSREMAINING Blighttown is the location of the second bell. It's sort of the opposite of the first bell. Instead of climbing up, up, up, you're going down, down, down. If you want to head straight there, you'll go back to the area between the bridge with the flame-breathing dragon and the knight gazing at the sun. A previously locked door can be opened, leading to the basement area of the Burg. Three bosses stand between you and the bell, but persevere and you can succeed!

  • @30SECONDSREMAINING As a second option, you can go to the Darkroot Garden, and challenge the optional boss there (accessed behind the lightning demon next to the blacksmith in the parish). If you still feel unprepared, don't worry because you can use the Divine Ember you find after the Garden boss to make Divine weapons, which you can use to challenge the Catacombs, which lie beneath the graveyard of the Firelink Shrine. You can go there without Divine stuff, but the skeletons will respawn.

  • "Good luck."

  • Out of all the great games that have released this year, this and Dead Space 2 are my current favs.

  • This and Sif's are my favourite soundtracks.

  • It kinda gives the feeling of "home" (in-game, at least), but still has a haunting tone to remind you that you eventually have to leave the safety of the shrine to get your ass kicked by a boss or two.

  • It's the same feeling you get on Resident Evil when you reach a safe room. Firelink Shrine is a relief spot to chill, and the music is quite fitting; but still rather eerie.

  • Melancholy. Haunting. Powerful. Beautiful.

  • so ps3 has one great game less to brag about... still many left tho

    demon's souls was truly amazing

  • Amazing track, sets the tone quite well for this Game. Dark and Gloomy setting as demons populate the entire world your in, so get out there and slay them for their SOULS!

  • This game is epic . . dark . .deadly . . yet oh so satisfying. I don't know about GOTY but its for sure a contender. I expect Skyrim to be just as awesome if not better.

  • This track is truly wonderful and mystifying.....Takes you places, and beyond that. Beautiful.

If you don't already have this game, buy it. No questions asked.

  • Dark Souls should be GOTY! It is so unique and amazing! Truly a great game!

  • GOTY

  • @y2399

    Absolutly!

    Dark Souls is incredible!

I have played this game and...... off fucking awelsome!

DARK SOULS, BF3 and UNCHARTED 3 are the most Amazing games of 2011...

I'm from Brazil... sorry for the bad english! hahaha

  • @blogps3experts Not that I think Uncharted 3 s a bad game (BF isn't my type), but I'd really love to see Dark Souls get the GOTY award. It deserves it, and people don't need to see the award on Cod/BF/Uncharted/insert AAA title to know they're good.

  • @Darkunov Agreed on that. It's less and less often we get such challenging, beautiful games that have a thoughtful, subtle narration and still allow for a great deal of imagination and wonder on your own.

It pains me how many people are convinced the Souls series have little to no story at all.

  • @blogps3experts eu sou de brazil tamben mas eu nassi aqui en estados unidos

  • Replacement for the Nexus theme? :O

  • @FootballPro97 Pretty much, Firelink is basically in the center, in terms of getting to every place

  • Good job, I have not played this game, but I saw the list of related videos and I discovered an amazing ost!!!! :D (reminds me of some silent films)
