  • this is a type of castlevania rondo of blood an castlevania the adventure ReBirth

  • this two main characters were mention in Potrait of ruin.

  • Comment removed

  • 20:30 is fucking HARD!!!

  • @CobraDeSade when i first did that part i thought my ROM was corrupted :D

  • I think this was the last Castlevania game to have really good original bitchen music.

  • This game is ugly in comparison to the SNES.

Sound is really awful as well.

  • @CYCLOPSONE SNES came out two years after the Genesis. The Genesis tried to emulate arcade games typical of the time. SNES tried to emulate reality.

  • @Plingio I see what your saying though about arcade quality games on Genesis. It really did resemble arcade classics from the late eighties. That is pretty cool. The Super Nintendo though had some awesome titles. Sure it was painted a childish console by Sega representatives but to me it was the greatest console ever made.

  • @CYCLOPSONE I am a 100% Nintendo fan. I just thought I should clear up the differences. My first game ever on a console was Super Mario World, so I guess I'm damned to fandom. :)

  • @Plingio

Dumbest thing i've ever read about the systems.

  • @GodsLonelyMan44 I'm sorry, but that's not my issue.

  • This game make me wanna cry lol I miss these days great vid.

  • what a cool looking game. my friend had a sega at this time but i never knew there was a castlevania for it. instead i was waiting around for a castlevania 5 that would never come.

  • ah memories :3

  • this game intimidated me when i was a kid lol some of the sounds and music is eery

  • Versailles stage was so hard in in this game whenever My Social Studies teacher in Junior high talked about anything involving "Versailles Treaty" i cringed....

  • the music gives me chills

  • holy shit this game is older than me :O i played this bad boy all the time

  • meh i can do this with ninja gaiden

  • @CrusaderGundam

We give a fuck! We really do!

  • Speedruns are a form of art. The only game where I have achieved such a level of mastery is Megaman 3 and it still took me a while to pass, no whee close to a speedrun. I love Speedruns.

  • in stage 3 when u swing with the whip for some reason never latched onto the cieling for me when i was a kid. So I always played lecarde. One thing that was awesome with this game when u played the higher difficulty it added more bosses. One i remember off top of my head was the Frankenstein one forgot what stage.

Best sega game imo atleast my fav by far

  • Super Castlevania IV was such an overrated piece of shit game.i don't see what was so appealing about that game.yeah the mode 7 effects were amazing..but bloodlines just had everything a castlevania needs...Great Music,Awesome Bosses,Old-School Gameplay and Michiru Yamane...What more do you want!!! Bloodlines>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SCIV

  • miss these days when i was a kid... when things where amazing in video games....... no multiplayer... just local friends to showoff to who would never be able to understand and to depend on me to beat their.... games..... miss those days bad.....

  • Why do I think that Genesis Catlevania looks and sounds better than NDS castlevania o_O

  • @go2viraj Genesis ones feel better because of all the fuckin quality that they delicately and meticulously threw in the game, much like many of 90s games.

  • SN pwned megadrive/genesis.

  • @samuelrosenbalm

    Nope.

  • @GodsLonelyMan44 Several months later and several emulating sessions later and I have to say I was wrong with what I first said.

But, you cannot deny how awesome SC4 is.

  • @samuelrosenbalm

    agreed.

  • All that for an ending with less then 10 words. hahaha. xD

  • john morris, chuc norris texas usa american pepel so funny

John Morris is a descendant of the Belmont family

John Morris is the son of Quincy Morris novel Dracula character in 1987,

    Bram Stoker‎ roman

konamis ont vraiment fume de maruuana

  • I thought Castlevania IV was buggy, dull, and seemingly incomplete. It looks like it was a prototype sequel of remake to Haunted Castle and they just brushed it off and released it for the SNES. Dracula was challenging, but only one form? Even the original had two forms.

  • @rydia86 have you ever played 4

  • I fucking hated stage 5. especially where you have to climb the magic stairs.

  • The western styled Castlevanias, like Bloodlines were always my favorites. After they went all anime in SOTN it kinna lost some of it's horror edge. And the RPGish style that SOTN brought just wasn't punchy enough. An enemy isn't that scary once you've ran through it 8 times just traversing the castle. I liked the card idea from Circle of the Moon, but Lords of Shadow brought it all together, the western style, the medievel horror, Everything! That game is a culmination!!

  • @sonicslayton I didn't like the Metroidvania gameplay or the RPG elements because it;s confusing and boring to navigate levels and solve puzzles.

  • @Jegudiel29ZX So having to use your brain is boring...

  • @rydia86 The metroidvania style games hardly tell you what to do or where to go and i fucking hate that because i just want to move on and beat the game, not waste my time running aimlessly around in circles trying to figure out stuff.

  • @rydia86 Oh i forgot to add that using your brain in games like SOTN and Zelda etc isn't boring. It's a complete waste of fucking time! i really hate having to do missions where you have to go find shit, solve puzzles, and wandering aimlessly on not knowing where to go or what to do i end up getting confused and that's fucking retarded. i don't want to solve puzzles, find stuff, backtrack etc. i just wanna get from point A to point B.

  • @sonicslayton God of War ripoff with no exploration or challenge is a culmination..? You must have really low standards...like every other gamer that is willing to except the mediocrity that is gaming today.

  • @rydia86 Wait......NO exploration or challenge??? I REALLY don't think you've played the game sir...and no, playing the demo does NOT properly show off what That game is all about......And this whole trend of calling EVERY action game a GOW ripoff is REALLY unbecoming, and I'm sure it started with the Call Of Duty generation because the statement just screams lack of knowledge....

  • for me best castlevania and best soundack vivaaaa bloodlinessss

  • I actually like this a lot more than Super Castlevania IV. music from Genesis games always had so much more character than the SNES.

  • they need to put this shit on the wii already

  • @cryptorchild21

    damn straight !

  • to be honest, i have beaten this game on the easy setting

  • Stage 4 has evil Oscar the Grouches? Outstanding!

  • このゲームのバーチャルコンソール版が早く出て欲しい。

  • For all of it's screwups, Portrait of Ruin confirming this game as canon made me happy in my pants. :)

  • @escape421521 thats way more info then I needed, but what screw ups were you refering too?

  • Much better than SC4...however, both are good. :-)

  • tool assisted fail

  • 14 people are misserable piles of secrets

  • @XEHANORT1000also, 14 people don't belong in this world.

  • This game is still on my top five favorite Castlevania games. (probably #2).

I gotta do a playthrough of hard mode when I get the chance...

  • Couldn't it be done faster with Lecarde?

  • @LucienFati That would depend on the play style, wouldn't it?

  • I'm not saying that this game sucks but I feel that it is equally par with Super Castlvania IV.

  • Dude you are relentless.

You should join the Marines as they search for bin Laden over in Afghanistan.

  • you went through ALL the final bosses at the end without one hit. You suck!

  • you awsome

  • Oi royal guard and fistwagon SCV4 and Bloodlines are good SCV4's "drab colour scheme" is meant to represent fear and evil in the land of wherever it is, and bloodlines they were experimenting with colour schemes so quit arguing!!!!

  • 5:15 Epic Boss FTW. :P

  • I miss my sega. :(

  • Castlevania: Bloodlines was the first game I ever remember playing.

The blood scared me, cuz I was only 4, but I LOVED it!

I wasn't able to beat the game until about 4 years ago, (I'm 16 now) and when it played Simon's theme before the final battle, I about shit myself.

One of the best games ever, without a doubt.

  • @MetalSonic150 Comment is pure win. Nostalgia is great, isn't it?

  • awsome

  • my first castlevania game. i'm currently playing it on my dsi. :)

i'm using jenesisDS in case you're wondering.

  • ive never played any of the castlevania games..but i gotta say this music is so awesome!

  • this game was EPIC! super catchy music, challenging, nice graphics.

  • whats with the horrible desync ??

  • Oh my god!!

Takes me forever to pass stage 2 -.-

    You own!!

  • This is the uglyest dracula i ever seen!

  • Easily the weakest Castlevania game of them all.

  • @royalguard56 Don't be such a Nintendo fanboy.. The early 90ies console war is over. This was/is a great game, colorful and hectic with imaginative enemies and bosses. It's rated nearly the same as Super Castlevania IV and higher than Dracula X (both good games) on game rankings, not to mention some other stinkers that came out much later.

  • @Fistwagon Hmmm.....I don't believe the word "Nintendo" was ever mentioned in my comment. All I said was that it was easily the weakest Castlevania game. You do know that the greatest Castlevania game was on a Sony system, right? Besides, it's not my fault that Sega only had one Castlevania game, and that it simply wasn't as good as the rest of them. Who cares what system it's on? Apparently you do...

  • @royalguard56 You're the only one saying it's the worst of in the Castlevania series, I felt like defending it. The nintendo fanboy comment wasn't meant seriously but at the time (yeah I remember it...) every nintendo owner said this game sucked, clearly because it wasn't on "their" system. The game had somewhat of an influence on following games and the music was used in other games. Ofcourse you're entitled to your opinion, but you're wrong! xD

  • @Fistwagon ....or they could have been saying it sucked because it actually did, especially in light of the vastly superior Super Castlevania IV. If you just had a generic "video game controller" coming out of a wall with two monitors, one displaying SCIV and one displaying Bloodlines, and the person playing them had no idea what system they were on (eliminating "fanboy" bias, although the better graphics and music of SCIV would have given it away), nobody would have said Bloodlines was better.

  • @royalguard56 Nah, you can't know that. They're different games. Both great games, but different. SCIV won in the long run as we already know, it's always mentioned whilst Bloodlines is hardly ever talked about. Besides, I thought the colors in SCIV were kind of grayish-brown and drab and I remember it as a less attractive looking game in hindsight. Either way I feel you're kicking a dead horse that some people loved alot. NOONE disputes SCIV's greatness.

  • @Fistwagon Dude, I'm not saying it's against the law to like Bloodlines. Like you said, to each his own. Perhaps people who think fondly of it only had a Genesis, or never played any other Castlevania games, or, as you also felt the need to mention, were/are fanboys in their own right. This is all fine and good, man. But the majority of life-long fans will agree that Bloodlines just isn't as good as the rest, which is probably why, as you said, that it's hardly ever talked about.

  • @royalguard56 I'd say I'm a life long fan myself, I played the original on NES when I was a little kid, and I loved Bloodlines since it's more of a pure action game and close to the original. You on the other hand think it's worse than Simon's Quest. So we agree to disagree then... ON THIS FINE GEM OF GAMING HISTORY. xD

  • @Fistwagon Uh, yeah, we'll definitely have to agree to disagree. First you said SCIV has a drab color palatte (I suppose scientifically this could be debatable but not in the real world where people actually live) and then you say that Bloodlines is better than Simon's Quest, which admittedly would depend on your playstyle preference. The good thing is that Order of Ecclesia combines the world-exploring of SQ with the action of a Bloodlines-type game and owns them both, so I guess we all win.

  • @royalguard56 except for people like me who preferred the straightforward linear Castlevania games...... oh wait, Lords of shadow.... ok I win too.

  • @royalguard56 booooooo!!!!!weakest castlevania...from what planet are u?

  • for me the best castlevania!!!

  • 8:36 !!HEADSHOT!!

  • i got a genesis but not this game, is it worth getting?

  • @SpyBreak101 Do you like old style castlevanias?

If so you cant go wrong with this one its actually better than the american port of rondo of blood dracula X we got in north america.

  • @SpyBreak101 you bet ur ass it is

  • the char looks to me similar to the one from shatterhand on nes o.O

  • the bossfight at 20:30 i remember that it confused me at first lol, but how do you come up with a fight like that? genious!

  • ok i remember that john can swing from the ceiling with the whip, but was there something eric could do that john couldnt with his spear? i cant remember but im pretty sure there is

  • the level designs in this game are pure genius. none of the castlevania games have matched this since, not even the all mighty SotN.

  • @vguyver2 They're not bad. I personally prefer the level designs for Super Castlevania IV, but to each his own.

  • easily one of the most graphically advanced games they had on the genesis. On par with some of the SNES's more graphically powerful games like Demon's Crest.

  • @vguyver2 graphically advanced, i wouldve though for gen it would be sonic 3D

  • WoW this was really the first Castlevania game where Michiru Yamane was the composer Oo

  • hey kids ... play Sega...

  • To do this kind of speed run, this must of taken forever. He probably created a save state every ten seconds or so.

  • I like how in Portrait of Ruin, Eric looks COMPLETELY different almost like when john died, eric took his clothes

  • This guy seriously fucking "Own's". o_o

  • hHis is crazy! I give credits to that Exilant dude!

  • stage 5 the best music

  • did anyone notice on level 5 last boss, the boss music just seems to go as the action does in that fight? starts with a music like something's not right, and then it starts to pump up as soon as you make her reveal her true self(only if you're fast :P )

  • The music this very well elaborated

  • the only problem with speed runs is that they make a game look soo damn easy. then I get the bright idea to try to copy some of the stuff done in a vid and get my ass handed to me........

  • Well people allways seem to miss the fact that its tool assisted....Meaning slow speeds saves states and jump estamation etc.....The tools play for them. Lol.

  • Trully,1 of the best Castlevania games made.Awesome effects that some of the recent releases seem to be lacking. What a trip down memory lane. Thanks for this video!!!

  • i like the music of second stage very relaxing

  • Gee, killer gears, glad I skipped this one

  • is this what the new castlevania from the wii is off of? castlevania adventure rebirth?

  • Not really, it just sounds like this simply because the TMNT arcade sound system and the Genesis had a lot in common.

  • No. It just happens to use the music from the same level of this game.

Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth is loosely based off of Castlevania: The Adventure for the original Gameboy.

  • nop, is a remake of castlevania adventure for the original game boy, even thought is as much of a remake of that game as super castlevania 4 is a remake of the original castlevania

  • no - cv adventure rebirth is from the first cv game released on the gameboy - it's title was 'Castlevania Adventure' - it was a HORRIBLE port...this rebirth version is to makeup for that heap of fly-infested monkey crap. CV Adventure (2) Belmont's Revenge was much better.

  • loved how the candles were lit after th water great classic

  • My favorite Castlevania. I can beat this game in 35 min on my genesis.

  • to Zedis1, i agree with you that he may on easy, if it was on hard mode i doubt any would be able beat the game under 35 min, souldn't that be like in possibe, i'm mean my sister was way better me on medium and hard mode not even she could beat it under that time, so i do believe he's on easy...

  • What part of TOOL ASSISTED speed run did you not catch. This could be on the hardest difficulty and be entirely doable like this simply because you can save state the whole way through.

  • Yeah it is on SEGA genesis i use to own back in the day in 98, i was so hooked on to it, but my favorite stage was stage 4 with the gear monster boss, i got pretty far in hard mode untel i got the final stage, but this was the best game at the time other Light Cercater if i have the name right...

  • i think its on sega genesis

  • i dn like ow u play

    are u on easy,wimp?

  • 2:29, Simon's theme!

  • i mean 29:29

  • Dracula's stairs are backwards

  • Not if looked from the other side of the castle.

  • Not as good as Castlevania IV, but still an awesome game. Prob my 2nd favorite of the series.

  • awesome game I specially love the music

  • Wow, vase/face illusion as boss? genius!

  • this is of course, a really good game, too, no doubt about this game.

  • thos people at konami know how to make a fuckin videogame damn!!

  • John Morris

  • the most Dificult Castlevania ever!

  • Only skilled players can use John Morris to finish the game.

  • ugh blahhhhhhhhhhh that theme makes me feel a lil sick in the stomach for real when i was playing this game back in 94 when i started high school in that messenger from devil theme still makes my stomach a lil sick but a fun game tho lol in scary

  • 21:00 one of the weirdest castlevania bosses i've seen.

  • Good job. Incidently, you can shave some time off in the first stage by getting that eyeball thing at 0:53 to knock you onto that upper platform. Not much time mind you but you won't have to go into that water area.

  • Is this game on "Wii Virtual Console" or "Xbox Live Arcade"?

  • not that I know of

  • the best game of genesis and mega drive too

  • I cant get past the part with death and his damned cards but it is the best game on the genesis in my opinoin

  • habt ihr eine idei wie heißt andre name gleich diese spiel aber ist ganz andre auch mit password ist jede part aber ich weiß nicht wie heißt diese spiel wenn von euch einer weiß dann schreibt für mich so so so also .. dan

  • Play with Eric Lacarde now and why aren't those two in the other games.

  • I believe Lecarde is in that fighting game for the Wii.

  • This was my favorite game back in the Genesis days. It had some eeeeeepic boss battles. I always played as Eric tho.

  • I always thought the boss before Dracula was Elizabeth Bathory... or however you spell her name. Perhaps it was lost in the translation.

  • I'd wager large amounts of money that you are correct.

  • good thing: I got it for 2 bucks

bad thing: is used; exterior in bad shape.

good thing: it works well and... hell I am playing a lot this game!!! =D

  • What 'tool' is used for this? I'm guessing you don't mean the Galoob Game Genie :P

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit! I didn't realize that blue orb was that powerful. That's crazy first form taken out in 5 hits.

  • Games a fun romp. One of the lesser known great titles. I'm still trying to track down a cart at a reasonable price. 60 bones is too much.

  • My gods, but if I had known...I sold 2 Genesis consoles and c. 12 games for less, four years ago. Castlevania:Bloodlines was my favourite.

  • "...and nice use of sacrificing life for time. "

When you're that UBER at it i guess you can afford to. LOL.

  • This was the first game I ever bought. But my Genesis didn't work so we returned everything, I brought a ps1, and skeleton warriors became the first game I ever bought AND played.

  • Must get my hands on this game

  • Your video lags behind the sound...but still amazing...and nice use of sacrificing life for time.

  • I like play eric because I can use the super jump.

  • The way you pleay says only 1 thing: YOu played this game at least 10 times XD

  • Add an extra zero to that number XD

  • what is stage 3 sapose to be in

  • Italy.

  • Lol ur good :D

  • First Sub Boss in lvl 2 is Wimp :P

  • It's safe to assume that "Iron-Blue Intention" and "Simon's Theme" are the best musical pieces in this game.

  • Gear Steamer (4th Boss) is by far the craziest thing I've seen in a Castlevania game. Epic!

  • to me this is the best castlevania, but i always play with that other guy

  • this was such a good game, so many memories. I remember I would always play with the guy with the trident

  • Igarashi & Yamane's Symphony of the Night prototype! This is like no other Castlevania! A gem in the Genesis library! Animation, sounds, game play you name it!

  • People keep clamoring for Konami to release Rondo of Blood on the Wii's Virtual Console (or at least for it to get an international release, it's out on the VC in Japan), but when have you ever heard people asking for Bloodlines?

Seriously, this is one of the more underrated pre-Symphony of the Night styled titles in the series. This game NEEDS a re-release on the Virtual Console, especially since Portrait of Ruin on the DS is the sequel to this game.

  • At 24:22, i used to get so pissed at this, because you have to fight the same bosses all over again

  • goddamnit the music to this game was soo friggin good!

  • Well I FOUND ANOTHER PROVE THAT THEY ARE GOOD FRIENDS.... YAH MAN THEY BOTH DIED (I know Eric is jealous of the whip, so am I XD!

  • hes much stronger than his Son from

    portrait of ruin : []
