This song isn't actually about Delilah, or a man with cancer. But it is about the bible story Samson and Delilah. It's supposedly about another woman before Delilah, sort of like a secret love of Samson's, though she wasn't mentioned in the bible or anywhere else. He really loved her though and trusted her, hence the fact that he let her cut his own hair. But he came to love Delilah and moved on, but she didn't. I love Regina, but I don't get this song. Delilah wasn't even in love with Samson, she was trying to figure out his weakness so she could help the Philistines kill him. And then she didn't even cut his hair... the Philistines did it. Then again, the whole of Judges didn't even make sense. Samson here is sick and weak. Dying of cancer, like that (because it was mentioned that his hair was long on the first time they met but now not much hair left on his head) They want to be together but soon they have to be apart like their love wasn't meant to be not even history books mentioned them. </3 While lying on his bed, he tries his best to eat, and go to the girl's bed to say how beautiful she and her hair is. A sad song. :(

I thought the reason she says "the bible didn't mention us" because... in the real story Samson was incredibly strong and killed all of the evil around him. But in the song... her Samson wasn't strong enough... and he couldn't defeat it. And because they were "unremarkable", the bible didn't mention them... even though, clearly, the song demonstrates that they aren't. <3

Well, I think about a lost love when I listen to this song. She loved Samson first, but death took him away. She's singing "I loved you first" and then Samson saying "I have to go" And their love being something of the past because of his death. "They're just old lights"

Or sometimes I think of it as, instead of death taking Samson, he is leaving Regina (or whomever) for someone else.

But hey, whatever. The song is still good.

Yes, the bible did mention Samson and Delilah, but technically, it never said anything about how much they loved each other. The only thing it said is about how Delilah became a traitor to Samson. No reason why she did that and if she actually loved Samson.

I think “the bible didn’t mention us” means that it doesn’t mentions their deep love for one another and that they gave up the love and strength of god for in turn for their own. The sacrifices that they made for love. But morely the bible tells the wrong. Its just left that out.

He had long hair, a gift from God that gave him strength. One night his wife cut off his hair and gave Samson to her city, for they hated him. At his public trial, he was between some pillars. He cried to God to give him strength and broke the pillars, killing the evil people and himself. This is a brief overview, look up Judges 13-15 in the bible
