  • They were called Caesar & Cleo when this first came out!

  • man sonny was such an ass Cher deserved better

  • That band is Tight!

  • I'm glad Cher has never had plastic surgery.

  • sonny was one of the greatest schmucks that ever lived and a lousy 'singer' too!

  • What a performance! They both look so cute and sound great together! I love watching vintage Cher performances

  • Can I use the word groovy here

  • She looks a bit shy and insecure on stage

  • Is she a Kardashian?

  • I've always enjoyed Cher's voice. Sonny's too. A great act!

  • what's amazing is the producers actually let them sing live with a live band!!! That never happened on most of these musical appearances.

  • Cutting it off is one way to deal with piracy now innit?

  • i was 15 yrs and and she was the best . a time when people were wearing bell botoms a lot of fresh and exciting stuff and she stood out big time.

  • this clip is one of my favorite ever !!!!! too bad its short :(

  • sonny was a right wing hippie hater, posing as a peace love guy..he was in music for greed only & he pulled it off...

  • Great clip. Cher was amazingly beautiful.

  • Cute Hats!

  • everyone makes fun of Sonny.. but he was the one who made it so good...as CHER said 'There would be no Cher without Sonny"

  • Never saw them singing this song...even on their TV show. I do have the recording.

  • I'd give my spleen to be able to go back to '65.

  • Sonny really hams it up, doesn't he?

Too bad we don't get the whole song.

  • Sonny really hams it up, doesn't he?

Too bad we don't the whole song.

  • amazing!!! wow gotta find out where it was taped I AGREE MEKO!!

  • Aw shucks that's all there is? Fabulous anyway. Thank you for posting.

  • How is this the whole clip if it cuts off while they're singing? I know that on Shindig people only sang part of a song and then they'll go to somebody else singing a different song, but they didn't cut the people off while they were still singing.

  • @Yakutska21 This is the whole video. On this show (Shindig) they often performed short versions of some 60 - 90 seconds.

  • Beatniks! Forever! Cher's smile is all I need for another day.

  • I love this clip, it makes my day, thanx to 60pop, you have defined my summer of 2011. Coincidentally I heard this tune on the radio last night and it blew my mind!

  • Shindig band...absolute best. Jack Good knew what he was doing with Shindig, having previousl experience producing the "Oh Boy!" show for British commercial TV in the late 50s. Again, another great band w/ that show too.

  • cuts off before middle of song!

  • @zcult63 That's how they often did it on this show.

  • A wonderful toe tapping hit. It's hard to believe Cher, born May 20, 1946, was 19 years old at the time this 1965 show was taped. Notice 30 year old Sonny is not wearing heels so he is shorter than 5" 8 1/2" Cher. In the color clip on YouTube of the same song being performed at the Hollywood Palace during 1965, Sonny is wearing heels so he is slightly taller.

  • The bari sax adds a funky lump ta dum. Coolest version ever, ashame we can't see the whole roll.

  • I love Cher here and the way she moves, she is so stinking cute!

  • Best song they did.

  • This makes me want to live forever. Sweet, sweet moment in time, never ever to happen again. Groovy people having fun. There's nothing phoney about it.

  • What show is this?!!? Awesome!

  • @gallery606 This is from Shindig.

  • @60popvideos "Shindig" had a policy of, whenever possible, having the musical acts perform live as opposed to lip-synching.

That probably made it the premiere rock 'n roll TV show of the era, in terms of production quality and music quality.

  • @gallery606 Thanks - I thought it was possibly Shindig. This is great! Thanks for posting!

  • Outrageously GREAT song and Production by Sonny ! (learned from Phil Spector) They were both so into it, and incredible in this clip. CHECK OUT the band and that wall of sound and completely perfect, infectious RHYTHM and GROOOOOVE...It KICKS ASS and feels so so good. I'll bet the band are all members of the infamous "WRECKING CREW" in LA. Check out the screenings around the country of the new Documentary by Denny Tedesco ! Sonny and Cher are all over it behind the scenes. Amazing clip THANKS

  • Amazing how Cher's voice soared above Sonny's cartoonish vocals. He was a phenomenally talented man, but his greatest success was making her a star. He never could sing particularly well as you can see here.

  • @morgaffi

I totally agree that Sonny was a phenomenally talented man:a wonderful, underrated songwriter, terrific arranger/producer and when he was in Congress was an absolute champion for the intellectual/creative rights of artists/songwriters everywhere. He is sorely missed! :'(

  • ah foowee wea is the rest of it lol

  • Like your wayback machine~!

  • Sweet!

  • Merci!

  • Where can I see the entire clip?

  • @markcruiser64 Unfortunately this is the entire clip. On this show they often did versions that weren't longer than 60 - 90 seconds. I have the whole song as a playback clip, but Warner won't let me upload it.

  • @60popvideos I would love to see it in it's entirety. I think the humor in this makes it the best video for the song. Message me here.

  • i saw this clip back then in 'shindig', i was born at 1959, but i love this song because it reminds when I was young, i was always left alone, and nobody wants to play with me as a kid. so i'm always on my own, even when at mealtimes, so this song is for me.

  • fucking yes.

  • good stuff as I said on the other posting watched this on Where the Action Is" on TV before leaving for school in the AM avbout 1964 or 65

    Thanx ever so much

    class of 1969

  • Back when Cher sang in that higher range instead of her diaphragm, this song has always been a favorite, but this is just fantastic....

  • love it.!!!

  • --and i just love the way she rolls her eyes---what a babe!!!!!---Please Don't Go!!!!!

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!MY FAVE S&C SONG!!!SINCE IT CAME OUT--BEEN LOOKING FOR A VIDEO PERFORMANCE OF THEM DOING IT FOR OVER 30 YEARS UNTIL NOW!!!!

Thanks SO MUCH for posting it!!!!

love the other version up here also(LIPSYNC)--BUT GREAT ANYWAYS!!-AND COMPLETE!!!

--IF ANY ONE HAS THE WHOLE PERFORMANCE--OF THIS ONE--PLEASE POST IT----IT NEEDS TO BE HERE FOR ALL TO SEE!!!--

IT SOUNDS TERRIFIC WITH THIS BAND AND GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!

    WHAT SHOW IS THIS FROM???????ANYONE????????

  • @MEKONMESSIN I totally agree with you..best song they ever recorded together! love, love, loved it then and love it today!!!

  • @MEKONMESSIN this is from shindig 1965. channel nyrainbow on youtube has full shindig shows from 1965.

  • @MEKONMESSIN one of the things shindig did was have the various guests do a short segment of a song then move to the next guest who did the same. then on and on. all on stage but at spots of it at the same time. this was sonny and cher's spot.

  • oh god, this is so good

  • i know!!!

  • those hat's rock ;p

  • Growing up I had a huge poster of Cher, dressed in Cherokee gear, in my bedroom. I loved her...and continue to. I saw her live, years ago, with the Village People.

She rules! ThanK you for this upload.

    :)

  • my favorite song by them, nice to see them sing it live, great post

  • great video,i have not seen this video clip before. CARL
