Farm the Clockwork Assault rifle from the Wall of Flesh and then make about 4 stacks of Musket balls then farm some crystals to make crystal bullets. Reason for the Clockwork assault rifle is that it shoots rounds of three bullets but only the first one counts. Flawless victory anyone?

Actually a spear like the Gnugnir, Dark Lance, or Naginata etc is most effective because of long reach, fairly fast attacks, and easy to dodge and still attack, altthough you have to move in that figure of 8

I found that jumping off a floating island with a Wyvern chasing you is a good way to get a few free licks in. He barely moves faster than you falling, so it gives you a bit of time to shoot him in the face with arrows before you hit ground. Obviously, have a Horseshoe equipped.

I think I have a better way, you can use this on any mob that is like the worms or eater of the worlds, just get a sunfury or blue moon, and when the mob comes directly at you use the flail and it will get like 10 hits for ~26 points of damage each time. hope this helps :)

i can kill it without taking damage and not moving right or left. just about 2 seconds before he comes on the screen jump up, double jump, and then hover in that spot with rocket boots, and then use any lance/spear like item downwards. it will hit him multiple times because he flies trough it and you wont get hit cuz he flies under you

there is an easier way: just place a bed on a floating island, jump of the island when Wyvern shows up, shoot him while falling and teleport back to the floating island using the magick mirror before you hit the ground.
