what he eat is RAW, me and my mom use to have a small business before,we sell balut...
We use too cook boil it for 45minutes, thats the proper way to cook balut, It should be boiled for 45mins so that it will be cooked properly and no more blood will come out when you crack the egg.
there is soup like appetizer so start at the flattest surface the bottom and drink the soup and work your way in dont eat the white hard one its like rubber but some eat it your choice
my teacher come from philipine and she said that balut is very delicious, so she tried to bring it to indonesia but in the airport the airport officer took it away...:(
@vanessagregoire lol! like give someone a hard boiled egg and they crack it and the bird comes out? that would be funny!!! i found mine finally at an asian market it was in the refrigerato r section
@FoodOddities Lol it's okay. At least, you know how to cook it properly (if) next time you've decided to make one. Good luck and keep up the good work!
To eat balut, you crack the hollow end of the egg first. That way you're able to drink the soup. Cook a little long so there is no blood. :) it's good with salt.
Nevermind about order. You at a really young one. You should check out my video about eating balut. It was actually filmed in the Philippines. It was about 23 days old, almost ready to hatch. Most people eat with either (banana) ketchup, vinegar and/or salt. I prefer plain. That's just 'cause... idk. XDD
it's not properly cook... the balut or the egg have blood... next time make sure it well cook... and you will see it more yummmmmy........ and try to use Salt or Vinegar
@FoodOddities yes, the first day it hatched, then soak it in vinegar (lil amount) soy sause (lil amount) pepper and garlic for 5 to 10mins, then deep fry it. it taste great esp. when dipped in vinegar+garlic minced+chili. :)
I'm so proud you like it! I was born in the philippines. As a baby, my mom'd buy me those(all yellow, no chick or duckling) durring el shadai. I'm now a teen and I still eat them in America. It's surprising people find it gross.
BTW, not to be rude, but I got a but upset how you ate it. Lol, sorry, it just bugs me, on a lot of videos where people find it disgusting, they eat it the wrong way, so it doesn't taste as good. It somehow offends me. XP
@FoodOddities Well, I'm atleast glad you liked it. When you started to take the first bite I was like- "NUUUU!!!" Then when you said you liked it I was like- "YAAAAAAAAAAY!"
I'm filipino but i live in Canada and , whenever i go to the Philippines , i eat balut .
I don't think the balut us supposed to have blood . And try cracking it at the bottom of the egg , not the side . If you crack it at the bottom , you'll be able to drink the soup of the balut !. The soup of it is one of the best parts if you ask me :)
There's SHOULDN'T be any blood in there! It's still undercooked! I'm from the Philippines and I eat balut myself, but I'd never eat an undercooked balut.
@kkjgg112391 whoa that is crazy i know as people grow up they can learn to like some thing but i never though about them learning to hate something! i guess you can eat so much you get tired of it? you are right about the smell!:)
That looks cooked right to me, sometimes it does get bloody but honestly most of the time it isn't :D you should try it with a bit of salt and pepper and Vietnamese coriander leaves~~ it's great!
I am American, But lived in the Philipines for a year....I have to say it was the hardest thing for me to eat. But once I tried it I was in heaven. Now I travel there once every 6 months and I always stop to get Balut before I leave
@SkateTheArmy that is awesome! that was what i felt like trying it the first time i was so worried but i guess it does turn out to be better than we all think:)
