  • @mariobox christian never won the wcw title. The WHC is a completely different championship check wikipedia

  • @mariobox Kurt also won the TNA championship so he won the wwf wcw nwa and tna championship! Now he should go to ROH and win the ROH championship.

  • That means Kurt Angle and Ric Flair are the only ones that have won the WWF, WCW, and NWA world championships. If Christiian one day wins the WWE Championship he will join that exclusive club.

  • @mariobox unfortunately christian will not join that exclusive club, just because christian has won the World Heavyweight Championship it does not mean that he has won all 3 major world championships, if the WCW was still around then he could win the WCW Championsip, then join the exclusive club!

  • :\ i hated how NWA wanted to take the belts away from TNA because they did'nt want Kurt Angle holding the belt.

  • Angle will likely go down as one of the greatest wrestlers in history. He won the WWE Title, World Heavyweight Title, WCW Title, and the TNA Title. But, imagine if Angle would have won the NWA Title on top of it? He would have been known as the greatest of all time.

  • Personally I consider this to be an NWA Title Reign, but maybe an unofficial one. I watched NWA's announcement and they said "Effective immediately" Christian Cage was stripped of the World Title.

  • back when tna was amazing

  • @beantownboy90 word!

  • they dont acknowledge him as nwa champion because of the way the match finished. kurt made sting tap out at the same time sting pinned christian cage 1,2,3. therefore, since they couldnt tell who won the match, no one was officially crowned champion. which is also why they had a tournament to crown the first tna champion instead of just rewarding it to kurt or sting.

  • Wen did tna get their new belt currently being used by rvd

  • @BBMthemuffinman In 2007 when they moved away from the NWA.

  • It sucks that the NWA doesn't acknowledge Angle as the last TNA holder of the title. If anyone deserves to hold the most historic world title in all of wrestling, it's Angle.

  • @Sanguiluna That is wrestling politics for you! Well we all know he was the NWA Champion and is truly one of the most deserving men to wear that belt.

  • BORING, nothing beats WWF 10 years ago

  • @AI2RTIFICIAL yeah ten years ago look what wwe has now the lady from brady bunch and santino with kozlov in a dance off oh but wait how can i forget the mistreating of matt sydall hart dynasty brian danielson and many others im pissed at wwe right now

  • @josue10540 WWE had dance off's for years! Do you remember Too Cool? Calling Bourne, and Bryan "Danielson" and "Sydal" makes you sound like an indy fool mark. Bryan wasn't there long enough to do anything, not like just because you're big on the indy circut you can just come in and become world champion, it takes time. Hart Dynasty are tag team champions, and Bourne is getting a good bit of air time and he'll be there for a long time. They are not really being misused.

  • @DaveWazzify Thank you! It's obvious that josue10540 doesn't know what "paying your dues" means. That's Generation Y....do we have to work hard to earn our spot?

  • @AI2RTIFICIAL, why you were watchin this anyway?

  • @Jjaydogg84 WCW broke away from the NWA instead of actually a repackaged version of it. Whilst WCW held onto the physical belt that was once the NWA title, its was renamed as the WCW World Heavyweight Championship whilst the NWA retained their world title status with a new belt representing it. WWE owns WCW and with it various video libraries from the NWA days but the National Wrestling Allaince remains an independant organisation today that was once affiliated with TNA.

  • @Jjaydogg84 WCW retracted themselves from the NWA in the early 90's and renamed the big gold belt the WCW World Heavyweight Championship....... the NWA introduced a new belt that was recognized as the NWA World Title....... TNA wrestling was affiliated with the NWA in it's early years, but has since retracted from NWA as well, and no longer uses the NWA World title..

  • wwe do not hold the rights to the nwa world title wcw broke away from the nwa in 1990-91 somewhere along that time the world title belT was made then

  • nice one, you just made yourelf look like a dumbass, TNA used to be NWATNA, as in it was a brand for the NWA but then when they broke away from the NWA they lost the rights to the title, and they gave kurt angle the TNA world championsgip, which to be fair, i think is the nicest looking strap any company has going at the moment, followed close by the latest form of the x division title

  • @Jjaydogg84 no the NWA still has it's title rights.

  • es es es christian????

  • I met him tonight after the TNA event.

  • who?

  • It was Kurt Angle...it wasn't impact...just a small local show.

  • it was on PPV actually >_>

  • lol, it says it was at sacrafice at the start

  • not after this dude it was one of those local events...nothiing big

  • Kurt Angle did hold the NWA title, because it was not until 12 AM that NWA could strip anything from TNA. And, since Angle won the title before Midnight, this should indeed be recognized as Kurt's 1st and only NWA World Championship reign.

Why NWA and TNA don't recognize this is far beyond me.

  • @KongregateNews wrong

  • @3bulletproof16 18 thumbs up and you just come out of nowhere and tell me I'm wrong. I doubt this.

  • @KongregateNews NWA stripped Cage and the Dudleys of the NWA titles immediately on Sunday morning. There was no 12AM bullshit deadline that smartass like to cite when arguing this. Therefore the NWA and TNA are correct when not recognizing anything relating about Angle and this so-called NWA reign. On Impact after Sacrifice TNA recognized Angle as the1st TNA Champion only to strip him that same night. After Slammiversary TNA retconned it and now recognize the TNA title from Slammiversary forward

  • @3bulletproof16 Well if that's the case then I imagine that night that TNA would use their new belts instead of the NWA belts.

  • @KongregateNews Remember that belts aren't titles. Belts are only the physical representation of a Championship. If I stole the Larry O'Brien or Vince Lombardi trophy would that make me the NBA Champion or NFL Champion? No, because again belts are only physical/tangible objects that represent the recognition of being champion. If you actually watch the entire event, other than Borash's comments TNA made no mention of the NWA when talking about this match and the tag team title match.

  • @3bulletproof16 Valid point, but I still do not understand why TNA would not use their own belts for this event. That's like if when Orton won the world title recently, if earlier that day they expelled it and it really represented the WWE Championship. Wouldn't you be confused?

  • @KongregateNews Since when has anything in TNA or wrestling in general not left you confused?

  • @3bulletproof16 id like to see you steel the stanley cup good luck hiding that thing instead of the NFL or NBA's silly little trophys

  • dec 9 1968

  • kurts 41 now tho

  • 40.

  • Kurt Angle is gonna b better than ric flair probably 30x world champion wich is better than 16

  • He dont need to be 30x world champion to be better than Flair, he is a 12x champion and better than flair in my book.

  • actually hes a 9time champ but he still owns flair anyday, anyone does even jimmy wang yang

  • @slby2j Ah ha, ah ha. Good one.

  • @slby2j It's true that winning a belt more times than another person does not make you a better wrestler, especially in the 2000 era when the title changed hands every week.

I don't think either are better, I would say that Rick Flair has had more of an interesting path in my opinion by wrestling in WWF and WCW in their primes as well as wrestling in the modern era.

  • but that means kurt would have to lose it 29 times

  • kurt angle should be13x champion with that title reign in the book some people in pwi recognize that win. but he will win hes world title match in japan for their version of the world title!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bank on it!!!!!!!!!!!! (not trying to copy edge on that a little fyi)

  • he is now at slammiversary 7 he won #13

  • angle never held the ecw title

he held the wcw, wwe, world, tna, iwgp world titles

    the nwa win should count

  • kurt is a former NWA champion in my book

  • kurt never won the nwa title cuz the nwa had already stripped christian of the nwa championship.

sucks that he couldnt add nwa champion to the list.

  • christian is back u know...

  • That is a shame. I wanted to see Kurt Angle win the NWA Title. I think that Kurt Angle, NWA World Heavyweight Champion, has a nice ring to it. Kurt Angle is already a former WWE, WCW, TNA, and World Champion. It is a shame that he didn't add the NWA Title to that list.

  • Shane Douglas turned it

  • that wasnt a legit win 4 angle. sting pinned cage at same time he tapped

  • nwa is a wrestling of the past the nwa world champion turn the title to the ecw wolrd heawyweight championship and that was the starting of ECW

  • actually the Eastern Championship Wrestling heavyweight title, based in the United States, was won by someone (forgot the name) and he turned that into the ECW championship we know today (he just changed one letter of the acronym lol)

  • @omgwtfbbq34 It's Shane Douglas.

  • what does nwa means shound their be a tna tittle instead of nwa

  • The National Wrestling Alliance used to be the overall governing body of professional wrestling...their title is (or used to be) the "real" undisputed world heavyweight wrestling championship. Guys like Lou Thesz and Harley Race wore that title.

  • yeah, and after it cracked in pieces like tna world title, wwf world title, ecw world title, wcw world title

  • sting never went to wwe he was on wcw

  • cristian sucks

  • sting never went to wwe

  • sting was in wcw u fucking twat

  • Actually, no. only Kurt Angle and Christian were from the WWE. Sting never was he was on WCW and the WWE invasion.

  • Sting wasnt even on the Invasion. He has had no affiliation with the WWE ever.

  • dude, Sting has never wrestled for the WWE nevr

  • You sure about that?

    wweDOTcom/inside/titlehistory/unitedstates/

    --

Wait, what happened august 25th 1991?...

  • that's when ric flair joined the wwf

  • well he never wrestled big time, as he did in WCW.

  • I think that was in the old WCW. It's the history of the U.S. title not

  • the history of the WWE U.S. Title.

  • Sting was never in the WWE.

  • wat happen 2 the nwa champion ship when r they gonna bring it back

  • TNA dropped out of the NWA and made their own titles. The NWA titles still exist on the indie circuit.

  • Unfortunely, the Instant Classic Christian Cage was stripped before this match, meaning Angle did not win the NWA title.

  • Yep. Just 'cause he had the belt doesn't mean the NWA recognized him as champ. Go to the NWA website and check the title history.

  • Yep, Angle damn sure isn't a NWA former champ. Just like I said 6 months ago.

  • officially cage wasnt the nwa champion at the time because he was stripped of the title the day before

  • tna is better than wwe cause it lets the other guys shine and gives them there moments unlike wwe where u have triple h win everything just cause hes bangin his daughter..angle and christian have more talent in there thumb then triple h..

  • No. It was a Draw. He was striped the week after on Impact. God, would more people watch TNA instead of just assume they know everything?

  • that's exactly right, i rarely watch TNA but i remember that episode as if it was yesterday, it's a damn shame he had to ruin the classic sting vs cc match by entering it and then end it in controversity anyway

  • cage go back to wwe

  • Who the fuck are you? He's a 2 Time Champion.

  • that sucks.

  • this is stupid big time omg

  • NWA/TNA

  • NWA cut ties to TNA a day before this event.

  • Ha, thing is, Angle didn't even win this match, it was a draw that was nullified.

  • kurt is one of the best ever!!!

  • People...

The NWA was like the parent company of TNA...that's why every belt was the"NWA TNA ... title(s)".

But TNA separated from the NWA last year so now all the belts are just TNA belts...hence the re-design of the World Heavyweight TItle.

  • how fuckin unimpressive does christian look?

  • I think it's really stupid that the NWA wouldn't wnnt to recognize Kurt Angle as a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

I mean Kurt was one of the biggest draws in WWE, become a 4-time WWE Champion, 1-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, 1-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, a reign as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion with the 3rd Belt, and two reigns now as TNA World Heavyweight Champion. He's one of the most decorated World Heavyweight Wrestling Champions ever!

  • Yes its true that kurt angle won the nwa title but the nwa didnt recognize that angle won the title as they stripped christian cage of the title midday before the ppv as TNA and NWA split even though TNA lost the the NWA Title midday they kept it until end of the scrifice PPV check it up on wikipedia if dont blv me

  • NWA and TNA are two different companies people!

  • They are now, but they weren't last year. NWA was the parent company of TNA...as was the case with NWA and WCW I believe.

  • No. They were all their own companies, they were just affiliated with the NWA, which meant that NWA Championships could be defended in each of those territories, and each championship change would be recognized by the NWA. NWA has never owned TNA, WCW, WWE, or ECW for that matter.

  • Yes I know, TNA is funded by Universal Studios...

I said "Parent Company" in order for people to understand what I meant.

"NWA was LIKE"...WAS LIKE being the keywords there.

  • The territories were just members to the NWA. The only had financial and title obligations to each other. It was never it's parent company, it marketed itself as NWA: TNA, because it was the only territory at the time that had a TV deal.

  • TNA isn't funded by Universal Studios, and never has been. They are renting the soundstage, and Universal just promotes them around the park. TNAs true parent company, Panda Energy, funds them. In the past year or so, however, TNA has become self sufficient, though they are still technically funded by Panda Energy.

  • ITS TNA!

  • TNA not NWA

  • Its not called the tna world championship the championship is called NWA so the text sould say - kurt angle wins NWA championship title

  • isnt it TNA?

  • Christian is an un crowned champion

  • i miss that old title belt

  • He never won the belt. Whether TNA recognizes it as an NWA title match or not, the NWA stripped Christian before the match, ergo, Christian was not the champion before the bout and Kurt Angle did not win the title from him.

  • Exactly.

  • TNA had the rights to the NWA title until midnight so wether NWA agrees with it or not Kurt Angle IS a former NWA Champion

  • Wrong.. TNA had the right to book the title so long as it was within their promotion, once it was stripped and the deal called off TNA lost the belt for good and couldn't crown a new champ.

  • The thing is the NWA didnt have the right to strip ANYTHING until midnight

  • NWA stripped Christian of the belt on May 13th, this event took place on the 14th.

  • what is the NWA and why did TNA use an NWA belt instead of their own?

  • National Wrestling Alliance, their belt is possibly the oldest Wrestling in history. TNA was like their TV represntative in 2000's or something like that.

  • Oh I see, now didn't TNA get a TNA belt?

  • Yeah they did after NWA strip TNA of the title.

  • fuck it its edited

  • kurt angle never won the nwa world title, that weekend before this match the nwa officialy announced they would strip the nwa title away from christian cage as well as a tournament for the title... Nwa wanted their belt back and tna wanted to form its on championship.. kurt angle is the first ever TNA world champ, but never held the nwa world championship

  • Christian Cage is the first ever TNA World Champion because as soon as NWA stripped Cage of the title TNA gave him the TNA World Championship, hes just never held that physical belt.

  • actually wrong, since he was stripped of the belt that would mean angle vs christian was afinals match for the new tna world title :)

  • I bet TNA had the plan of letting Angle be the last NWA World Champion of the TNA era and saying the reason he was stripped was because NWA pulled out and this would set-up the crowning of the 1st TNA World Champion. But NWA pulled one over on TNA and stripped Cage of the title before his title defense and TNA had to rewrite everything. The details of how the belt was stripped .etc were a little weird following this show.

  • U skipped the part that showed why the title was vacated on the following Impact.

  • "TNA had the rights to the belt until Midnight" yeap, so kurt was the last nwa champion of the tna-era and the first tna world champion.

  • TNA had the rights to the belt until Midnight

  • wtf!!! what happened to the rest of the match!!! put the whole match you moron!!!

  • the nwa actually stripped christian of the title before this match.

  • i know but TNA still recognizes it as an NWA title match

  • It's the NWA's title and they stripped Christian of it (stupid really, they made some jobber tournament). TNA has been around for 5 years, and you believe them? NWA has been around longer than your father's been alive!
