  • cool video ;)

  • Liked your overview and the video.

  • Thanks!! Im thinking about doing another, just because 10 mins isnt really enough time, but havent made up my mind yet.... Glad you liked!

  • Great to see people getting this information out. Good to have people thinking outside the box. Please check us out when you get a chance were a new YouTube Channel.

  • Nice info, You should make a video of your tatts. Love to see em. This video was very interesting :]

  • Hey, thanks! I might at that!

  • Oh wow! Body art really isn't my thing but I found your talk enlightening. I myself am very supportive of those who do this for spiritual reasons. I didn't know the Jemjra had tattoos! I know one day soon I will get my Valknot, my only hindrance is finding a pagan artist in my area.

  • That can be a problem... Though a lot of artists will honor your requests if you chose to do so in a somewhat ritual setting. Do your own cleansing and whatnot at home, and you can usually request certain music or that you burn a certain candle while at it. On the whole, most artists I have met are pretty open minded about such things.

Im glad you liked the vid!

  • Great vid!

  • Hey, thanks!

  • i dont know if my comment went through but... i have my right nostril peirced when i was 18 which was kind of a right of passage. this past may i had my tongue done and i just had my center lip pierced 2 weeks ago, and i plan on getting my belly button pierced, 2nd and 3rd earlobe 2 industrials and 2 cartlige. and ive been thinking of getting a tattoo of a lotus on my lower back... but im not ready for tattoos yet i believe lol.

  • i dont know what sparked such a need for peircings with me but it has been sparked and im kind of addicted now lol. but thanks for sharing your work and the information, because i think the respect has been lost in our soceity now, since there are jobs unwilling to allow you to wear your piercings like at my job they wont allow me to have my tongue ring(i just wear a clear retainer f-them)or nose ring in and its very said considering nose piercings are pretty much "normal" like ear piercings.

  • Its funny... So many people think this is a new or modern trend, and thus that people are going to be horribly offended by it. Which makes zero sense to me. I think those of us that are called to use our bodies as a form of art dont really know, for the most part why, at least not at first. Its something you grow into, I think. I certainly did.

  • Very cool. Informative and thanks for sharing about your tattoos and piercings.

  • Thanks hon!

  • Woot Resident Evil!

Oddly enough, in my Cultural Anthropology class this morning, we talked about rites of passage. For a tribe in Papua New Guinea, the girls reach womanhood after getting facial tattoos.

The ink is made of charcoal ink, which is done by poking the face with a long thorn everyday, for 3 weeks. Some of the girls in the tribe liked it, others did not. Regardless, it's part of their culture, and the tradition will live on because it is just that; a tradition.

  • One of the only perks of working at a movie theater... I got lots of merch. Lots. Its great fun...

As to tradition. There are some I would dearly like to see disappear (female genital mutilation, that sort of thing)or at least made optional, or something to chose for themselves when they are older, but on the whole, I personally feel that traditions are things to be honored. They are our links to the past, to our ancestors, and one of the only ways we have to take that path for ourselves.

  • Awesome vid! :) Have you read Crafting the Body Divine by Yasmine Galenorn? It's quite good, and covers a lot of information about piercings and tattoos for spiritual reasons.

I'm actually saving for my next tattoo, which will be spiritual as well as personal. I want the Wheel of Hekate tattooed on my left wrist, to denote I am Hers, as well as the beginning of a new life (ie. school, career), as She is the Goddess of Gateways and Pathways. :) It will be my 4th tattoo. :)

  • Ooooo... I havent. Im going to have to check that out!

Your next piece sounds lovely, hon.. Im curious to see how it will come out.

  • i have the kundalini serpent on my neck, the eye of horus, and my leo symbol. all 3 in black and red. <33

  • Very cool....

  • All my tats are connected w/ spiritual experiences.... My piercings are um.. just piercings. Saw a show on the Discovery channel years and years ago where arecheologiests dug up a man and woman burried together in Russia. They had animal designes tattooed on them. It was pretty interesting.

  • There is no shame in piercings for the sake of piercings. I mostly went over it because it is so rarely looked at in that sense. I think the first thing that grabbed my attention was a National Geographic that talked about some of the indiginous tribes in Africa and some of their cultural mods. Ive been fascinated ever since, lol.

  • grate video blesst be

  • Thanks, hon!

  • thank you for sharing your body mods with us, and for giving a brief history on them. I also have my own markings. i have the seven codes of bushido in japanese on my right shoulderblade, left shoulderblade is my three zodiac signs, taurus, the ox, and buffalo(i cant remember which native american tribe this is), and P A I N across my chest. no piercings yet.

  • Your pieces sound fantastic.... Im glad you liked the vid!
