Thats because Far Cry 2 makes sure the lighting only gets realistically bright (or dark) and then naturally tones it to get a great looking effect.

go get a e8400 duo core, you can easly overclock it to 3,4ghz-4ghz. Quadcores isnßt that good...maybe for rendering and filming but for gameing duo core rocks! (also the most games use duo core cuse quad core is hard to manage for gamemakers)

U can modify the fan speed and the temperature will be much lower.I find that a fan speed of 40% is very good u can set it to 45% or 50% for better temps. I get different fps depending on the zone. I get 35-40 in relatively low action packed areas, 25-35 in most areas and about 20 in highly detailed areas/intensive scenes. The low fps is also because of the cpu, i think a 6000+ is necessary for the 4850 to function at its best

HD 4850 cards have idle temperatures of about 77-78 C and under load reach about 82C , seemingly there is a problem with the current driver not setting the fan speed right. But this shouldnt be too much of a problem since cards can reach 100 C or more

It is possible to reach that temperature if u get an aftermarket cooler on it. I also read something about some sort of profile editing in the catalyst control center for fan speed but this edit is unsupported by amd/ati.

he changed the fan speed. he probably has the asus version. the asus version of the card includes a fan speed controller. I set my fan speed at 50% and it loads at 60 C
