also anyone willing to help? I'm going to play freshman football next yr at high school.I'm pretty small, only about 5'4 and 130 llbs. I have great acceleration but only average speed. I have good stamina. I have good hands but not great ones. Definitely not going for QB because i'm accurate, but no power. What should I try for? I'm honestly okay with anything you guys suggest
@zakattack084 120 llbs? i mean to me the most important thing in a corner is speed because if the receiver outruns u, no matter how good your other skills are, you can't touch him. So practice your speed stamina. and 120 llbs is sort of light. I'm also going to high school next year and i'm already 130. i mean, i am slightly on the overweight side but not by that much. You sound like you could be a great TE but 5'7's pretty tall so corner could suit you. idk you'll have to ask some other ppl lol
somebody help im 5.11 im in 8th grade i weight 155 pounds im going to do freshman football and I dont know how to play I moved from a different country in where football didnt even exist can someone give me a link and tell me what position I should play on?
okay, im a freshmen in highschool and about to start jv football. im bout 5'8, i weigh 130, and im somewhat fast. What position should i try out for? PLEASE REPLY
datz a huge mis match u got 2 give him a good 5 yards away f4m him , dats wut i do to faster receivers , if hes waaay faster then u den u shud b at least 8 yards away from him
to a certain extent......if u know the WR can burn it, if hes fuckin fast, u may wanna take a step back.....but ya routes always change so u gotta be on ur toes...so part of bein on ur toes is to take a step back cuz hes fast, now u know that ur playin safer on the deep ball, n be ready to jump him if he makes cut....know that ur givin him more of a quishon so be ready to step up on a quick cut
yo i play cb and back up runnin back but mainly cb and 4 we went to the super bowl in 07' in peewee lol 4th grade but in 5th we went to 2 round of play offs i play 4 columbus
I agree, my coach always told me to get close and hit them at the line but that never worked because if they dodge the hit im 3 yards behind them, So I choose to be about 2-3 yards away and backpeddle.
The way my coaches teach it (keep in mind, this is coming from someone who hasn't played a skill position in 3 years, and converted to D-end midway through the Grade 8 season :P), you're supposed to stay just slightly less than arm's length away, if you're bumping. That way, it's easier to recover from the receiver dodging the bump. Once again, keep in mind my experience is mostly as a lineman, and linebacker. I'm just speaking from what I remember :P
if your faster then him i always give him alot of cushion so that the QB throws it to him and your quick enough to intercept it. Always works. but you have to be fast..
he was right i play cornerback for my high school and the reason he said u give the fst guys more cushin is because it helps u react better on the ball and if your bumpin a fast guy there a very good chance he could put a quick move on u and be gone and its better to bump ig guys because like he said u kno they cant beat u in a foot race so if they do pass u u can easily catch up and most likely get the int i would kno from experience
This is stupid, if you're going up against a fast WR, you want to play up on him. You don't want to let him get full speed while you're back pedaling. Whether you play up or back has to do with what safety help you have over the top. Playing CB is all about knowing where your help is and forcing them that way.
but how do u know if the WR is a fly, or a slant route WR in the game.. its common sense.. so if u leave him a big coushion and he runs a slant ur in big trouble.. this doesnt make sense!!!
doesn't work because i watch the ball if you cant hear qb so what you do is jam him on the line for a sec and knock him down then just get hands on and make a play dont let them get the room to make a move, ill try and make a video when i get my first camera
First of all, when playing cornerback you can win the battle before the battle even begins just on how yu aling yourself based on the wr\s position on the field. Never let hi, inside. The sideline is your friend.

@adrianeek0086 You will have to bulk up quite a bit especially at your height. From there you can go to just about any position.
