This is truly one of the best videos I've seen in quite awhile. Although I disagree, I on my single 650 gs will have more adventure and excitement than most anyone else, in spite of and enhance by all of the explorers before me. But to each their own...
Best wishes on your adventures and thanks for sharing them in such a humorous way!
Most of the people I know with big expensive flash looking bikes bought them on finance, difference is, mine is older, but I "own" it, it is mine, not a bank's, not a finance company's, mine ! Halfthrottle, has the exact same mind set as me, you dont have to pay mega bucks to enjoy yourself :)
I want one of these and btw I have a rusty old 91 s10 that I take into places that would make people cringe. It is paid for and I love it. May you have many more adventures and many more years of good health.
As an avid KLR650 owner, rider, enthusiast, I know exactly what you are saying. In reality no one will try convince anyone that they are the best, or most powerful. BUT, when I load up, and head out, it is not a ride,....its an adventure. I dont have to convince anyone its the best, they stop me whether at a gas station, pub, or the roadside, and by the look of joy on my face they know its the best ( for me ) and they always let me know. Love the video brother!!
@LarryMediaGuy I'm confused about why a lot of people seem to comment about my video, "worlds most powerful dual sport motorcycle" on this video. This is about KLR's sure, but I don't refer to them as powerful. I use words like, "old, ugly, slow" to describe the KLR here. Go break my balls about most powerful bike on the right video.
I don't mean to break your balls, but you're not the first person to leave that type of comment on the wrong vid.
@LarryMediaGuy The KLR vid is a joke about how crazy expensive bikes like KTM's and BMW's are. You could buy a new KLR 4 years in a row for less than one 1200GS. It's really hard to justify one of those bikes when the KLR is so capable and so much cheaper.
@halfthrottle totally agree if just dollars and cents. But that's why there are BMW's, Ducati's and other expensive toys. Different strokes for different folks. KLR is probably best all around Adventure Bike.
@LarryMediaGuy Of course we have, both of us own more than 1,we both have 1200s and we both own KLRs The most powerful means a lot of different things, for 1,what other bike can compare to a KLR as far as longevity,? 25 year production run,and counting, theres more KLRs on the road that KTMs 950s,and 990s put together.
This 1 bike has many many legions of owners.that sounds like one hell of a cult following 1 powerful ass machine. The sheer amount of KLRs sold speaks for its self.
HT I've been watching your videos for a few days & have to tell you they are inspirational. I see a lot of people saying they wish they could do what you are doing, wish they could ride in scenery like you have. Your videos inspire me to see things like the Rockies, drive the beaches of Florida, meander the countryside of the northeast. There are plenty of adventures in our own backyard if a more exotic local is not in the immediate cards. Thanks again for the inspiration.
Hey Ryan, yet another great video!! Quick question for you: Do you know if you have to credit the music used in the credits at the end of the video or would simply adding it to the description (as you've done as well here) suffice? I've a few videos that I never added the copyright free music credit to the video itself (only to the description). What do you reckon? Is that ok? Cheers.
@roadspartan Depends on where you got the music and what that artist requires. This track is from Kevin MacLeod. He asks that people either put his name in the credits, or the video description. I usually do both.
That was very well done. I think it says it all. Only one small issue. Isn't the KTM 950R Super Enduro a dual sport bike? Most powerful dual sport? Just saying, I mean I have both bikes. :-) Maybe most powerful dual sport thumper!
@advfilmer I was just confused about why you were posting that comment on this video rather than the "worlds most powerful dual sport" video. I made a similar one about the 1200GS, if I could get my hands on a 990 Adventure I would make one about it.
When I read this I thought of you and this intro video: “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
anyone else only able to view a few videos of his when you go to his youtube page- there isnt a upload more button to see all the awesome vids hes filmed
@linkavitchC They are all there amigo, make sure you are on "uploads" and not playlist or something like that. Then you can sort by date and watch them all chronologically.
Husky TE610, Aprila SXV 550, Yamaha Xt 600, Suzuki DR800 and Honda xr650? Many supermotos over 500cc. Not sure of the definition your using for supermoto but there are options. However, as I said above, I love my KTM. :-)
What the crap is he talking about when he says the KLR650 is the most powerful dual sport in the world? My KTM 525 has about 45hp at the wheel and the KLR's have 35hp at the wheel. Not only that but my KTM weights 250 pounds dry and his KLR weights 337 pounds dry. Not sure what he's thinking??
@NinjaDuck1337 Dude, seriously? I know exactly what it means, I ride and explore at least one full day a week. I'm more passionately about riding than anyone I know. Just because he made a cool video doesn't mean he can pull out random "facts" that's not even remotely true. A KLR isn't even close to the most powerful dual sport, they're heavy and slow, just like the Suzuki DR650 and the other low performance bikes. They are, however, reliable and probably run forever on low maintenance.
@XDsubcompact I think your talking about a different video, but whatever. And I can pull out random facts that I make up because these are my videos, and I make them to entertain people and give them a laugh. I made "Worlds Most Powerful Dual Sport" to piss off BMW and KTM owners. I wanted people to come along and say, "But, but, but, that's not true! My KTM can blah blah blah." Guess this means it's working.
@halfthrottle Ok I thought you were serious. No this is the right video, look at 2:00. I don't have anything against KLR's or any other dual sport, I rode a Suzuki DR 350 for 2 years before I upgraded to my KTM. MY DR 350 was about as overweight and gutless as it gets and it was a blast to ride. After riding a KTM I was quickly addicted to the power and light weight body :) But no, I'm enjoying the videos, I laughed my butt off at the Harley spoof commercials.
@XDsubcompact At 2 minutes there is a link to another video, that is the one I was thinking you were talking about. I also made one called "The Alpha and Omega of Motorcycles" It was about BMW's and is filled with a bunch of B.S. that was made to get under the skin of KTM owners again. I'm glad you got a laugh out of them :)
@halfthrottle You can hate on KTM all you want but I upgraded from my 1996 Suzuki DR350 to a 2004 KTM 525. Sold my Suzuki DR for $2200 and bought the KTM for $2700, insanely good deal. Never had a single problem with the KTM, it's bulletproof and fun as heck. I would be afraid to take a KLR650 on the trails I like to ride, single track trails wrapping along cliffs and hillsides...hairpin turns into an immediate hill climb. KLR's are probably great bikes for dirt roads, not sketchy trails.
@XDsubcompact If I had a friend with a KTM I would have made a video about KTM's being the best motorcycles in the world long ago. I just don't have access to one that I can spend a day filming. All bikes are good at the purpose they were built for. Ever notice how good Harley's look in the back of a trailer? They were designed for that.
A lie is a lie even if it's a good lie. :-) I don't love my 06' because it's the most powerful bike in the world, I don't love it because it's the fastest bike or even because it's the heaviest. I love it because without pretense and hype it is a good bike and has never stranded me on a trail, never had to make an excuse for caked on mud and never complained about my 280 lbs being on top while traversing a mud and rock covered uphill on a dual sport ride. Cheers, Luke.
This man does not care for chrome, for dust & good looks, he rides to get lost, he rides to get disappered, he did not buy the KLR to ride up & down on main streams, he rides it for adventure & the KLR is his ticket for un-limited adventure- I just want to give him my highest salutations for his love & unfreezing zeal-
cortez and the rest of them didnt discover shit they just took over and called it there own that land was home to millions of native and look what weve done to it,, kill all the white man i say
Thank you for uploading this! Im happy I found this. I have a love for motorcycles. I got my dirt bike a couple years ago,it was an 80cc yamaha. My cousins and friends always made fun of me because I never "went fast". They called me pussies and it made me upset. Well fuck them, its my bike and I "loved" riding it. Now im looking at this bike, for awesome off-road adventures, but also getting me to school and back.
@dirkbikeman1001 It's important to love whatever motorcycle you ride. And you can't go wrong with a KLR look around for a good used one, you can usually find KLR's that were tricked out for long adventures that never happened. So great bike with all the extra's with low miles. Happy riding.
@alimeksiki No doubt both Columbus and Cortez are burning in hell for what they did in the Americas, but that doesn't change the fact that they were great adventurers.
I must say that my KLR has been the source of innumerable smiles, for the very reasons you cited. I have other bikes and they're all good for different purposes, but the KLR is my bike of choice for the times when I just want to "get lost". There's nothing like exploring fire roads or canyons or even that trip through Big Sur.
If tomorrow someone told me that I could only have one bike, the KLR would be the one.
You completely nailed it. Mine is even older and uglier (89). Everyone makes fun of it. But I can't imagine a better bike for what I like to do. Thanks for putting my thoughts into a format like this.
Thanks so much for posting it to the community site. I am so jealous! Great Adventure Great video. I love to see motorcyclists raising the bar! Fantastic!!!
KLR rider. Tear to my eye. Bravo sir. My bike was pink. I painted it the color of mud. It will be pink again some day as that scratches off from drop after drop off road. But who cares.
@srikrishnajay Columbus and Cortez now abide in the genocide wing of Hell. Columbus is actually room mates with Hitler. I know they are bastards, but they were also brave explorers.
cool video,,I ride a1999 suzuki DR650, but thats not important, whats important to me is riding, with friends, or just by myself. It has to be a dual sport though.I live near the canadian border here in the U.S.A. I ride in the cascade mountains, beautiful country, check out my channel, Happy trails!

TheMjs91882 8 months ago

Chriscary21 8 months ago
great vid but as a Mexican i say F Columbus and especially that son of a thousand crack whores Cortez...other than that sweet vid and I love my KLR.
alimeksiki 8 months ago
@alimeksiki No doubt both Columbus and Cortez are burning in hell for what they did in the Americas, but that doesn't change the fact that they were great adventurers.

had shiney fast bikes....boring!!! got an old beat up xt600....sooooo much fun!!!
bikerjohn1111 8 months ago
@halfthrottle

Best KLR vid ever man, way to go...
Xtatic777 8 months ago 4
You completely nailed it. Mine is even older and uglier (89). Everyone makes fun of it. But I can't imagine a better bike for what I like to do. Thanks for putting my thoughts into a format like this.
ddavidv 8 months ago
@ddavidv When speaking of KLR's the uglier the better. Their bad looks is the source of their power.
halfthrottle 8 months ago
Thanks so much for posting it to the community site. I am so jealous! Great Adventure Great video. I love to see motorcyclists raising the bar! Fantastic!!!

traxxas30 8 months ago
How fast will it go and how much
traxxas30 8 months ago
@traxxas30 I paid $1500 for it. Not really sure the top speed, but KLR's aren't known for being speed demons.

It was too good. That video with the music was so professional
that I missed the first part because I thought from the sound
it was a commercial. :)
semperfi1000 9 months ago
@semperfi1000 Sort of hoping the guys at Kawasaki will turn it into a commercial.

KLR rider. Tear to my eye. Bravo sir. My bike was pink. I painted it the color of mud. It will be pink again some day as that scratches off from drop after drop off road. But who cares.

I liked your video, but I don't consider Columbus and Cortez honorable people as His-story portrays them!
srikrishnajay 9 months ago
@srikrishnajay Columbus and Cortez now abide in the genocide wing of Hell. Columbus is actually room mates with Hitler. I know they are bastards, but they were also brave explorers.
