i just finished the book and there were so many differences in the book and movie i feel asleep in class watching it becasue i was hat confused and it to me made no snese as soon as you come in to the movie it go like right to chapter 22 or 23
Could you do Gone with the Wind? Because they miss a lot out of the movie that was in the film but the imagery in the film is epic.
Also, Would it be asking to much for you to do Harry Potter? Because a lot of people seem to be taking sides about wich is better out of the books and films and i really can't deside.
I'll have to rewatch this film sometime. I saw it in my english class (I'm a high school student) last year and I remember really disliking the movie. I thought the acting was great, but that the whole plot felt horribly rushed.
Also, I have to disagree with you about the supporting characters. While the show vs. tell problem is a good point, what Harper Lee did with Mrs. Dubose and Calpernia, and Dill as well, was so fantastic that, in my opinion, the book deserved to win that category.
@ElectroSocketBlues That category was hard. (And I actually had to go back and check what I said, as it's been so long since I did this review.) It was almost a toss-up and, if anything, I went with movie just because I wanted to have my categories tied up going into the final round. But you're right: the characters are developed extremely well.
Both book and movie are among my absolute favorites. If you have a chance, I'd recommend the audiobook, too - Sissy Spacek does a FANTASTIC job as the voice of Scout. Check it out for long car rides; it keeps you hooked. :)
Totally pretending to watch this set of reviews to get them out of my subscription box :P Because I've seen them already. And I watched you edit them.
Great review so far Matt. This book/movie is especially dear to me because I played Jem in a theatrical adaptaion last year, coincidentally while reading the book in my 8th grade Lit class. Although the movie is phenomenal, I have to side with the book overall, mostly because seeing the story through Scout's eyes adds a level of depth to me, as well as her wit made me laugh out loud more than once. But still, can't wait for more!
PS: I hate to nitpick, but "Calperna" is actually CalperNIA.
You a good movie and book critic. I get picky when I talk about a movie.

Edward Arnold would have been a far better choice.
Greg Peck's flat acting sucked all the air out of the room.
I didn't give a flip about any of the characters. * All main actors and actress is this film were poorly selected.
12 Angry Men is a far far better film!!
Your review of this film/book is 10 times better than this film.

Hatter! I like his name. : )
I remember not liking Jem quite as much in the movie for same, developmental reasons. This is really great so far-- I am SO pumped for part II!

It is amazing that after so much time the movie still holds up. I really need to go back and read "To Kill a Mockingbird Again" - jessie

I bet Stephen Fry would be a fantastic Atticus Finch.
