hey, great vid. i have windows 7 just like u do, but u know when u put the cursor onto one of the icons on the taskbar a minature version of that window pops up, mine for some reason stopped doing that, how to you recover that?

I'm not so sure that I like the square icons. I liked the rectangular icons with the app name on it (circa every other version of Windows). However, it is but a small thing, and if Windows 7 is actually as good as people are saying, I'm willing to use it.

And, I'm sure that Microsoft will have included various options to customize things, though, as they have done with all of their products.

you should download the release candidate from the microsoft website, not install a beta version. it is more up-to-date and the subscription will last longer. either way, you will soon find that w7 is the best Windows OS ever created =)

If ur computer is full of crap applications installing a new OS will always make it run faster. Upgrading from Vista to 7 will not be a huge change. I use bluetooth and had varied results when installing Windows 7, the best thing to do is to use a wired keyboard\mouse and then install the bluetooth drivers. You will have to reinstall all drivers, software. If you preorder Windows 7 before July 11, 2009 you will get 50% off the purchase. And don't ask so many questions next time :O

Guess whoever got a mac will stick to it. I have vista 64 bit and it is slow, even though I have a brand new, latest CPU and all, and keeps crashing when using video editing software. Is windows 7 any faster ?

Windows 7 is a bit faster than Vista. Of course the more stuff you cram into your computer the slower it will go.... I have tried out quite a few video editing programs myself, I use Adobe Premiere Pro now. It's never crashed on me like many other editing apps have : | Get more RAM!

Why would Microsoft abandon the rectangular task bar icons? The little square ones are annoying. Is there some way to list the name of the app running in the the icon? The rectangular ones were WAY better.

I forgot the mention: If you mouse over one of the icons, would it tell you (with a screen tip) what the app is? Notably for the odd program that doesn't really have an icon other than a default Windows one. Even if it does appear in a screen tip, you would have to mouse over each and every icon to find the one you want. Wasn't it faster to be able to tell at a glance?

And I hope Microsoft doesn't push this one as much as Vista.

Oh My God, it took/takes Mircosoft like 5 years to change like almost nothing... Look at Ubuntu, they work for free and 5 times faster (every 0.5 years theres a new version) and they change almost the same as microsoft did with vista-7.

My thoughts to Windows 7. It's no point to go out and purchase it. By the time it comes out I'll be ready to upgrade further and it should be worth it because my Compaq labtop motherboard the chips are right under the keyboard, so since I can't really clean that part easily I'll end up buying another Computer with Windows 7. Makes since huh? I believe more major improvements will be out by then and tech will be allot more cheaper. Quad processers will cost what dual processors costs & so forth.

I have Vista 64 bit and it works fine. All of the problems have been resolved and everything is compatible with vista. This windows 7 is nothing diferent than Vista and who wants to wait years before everything is compatible with it. All these changes could have been added by an update to Vista. Sorry Bill, I'll buy it on December 21, 2012 (the end of the world) or maybe the day after.

i use it on my laptop and i had no errors with it so far and as for wine its easy to install just use the add/remove programs feature. maby you where using and old distro like 5.10 or something, allot has changed since then

I used 8.10 or w/e hardy version is. First time I installed, it managed to corrupt the video drivers to the point of not even functional. Second time I messed it up by screwing up following impossible instructions on how to install apps. Finally I got Flash and Wine to run and tried installing iTunes, and it didn't even install at all. I'm sorry, but I have terrible experiences with this OS and despite its speed and supposed stability, I'll stick with glitchy Windows.
