I suppose the idea of people taking an active part in the thought process is just a wild pipe dream these days, and unlikely to happen. Most people seem too lazy and/or apathy-crazed to care about anything but themselves; and so few even care about themselves. A “pet” is like a piece of furniture; it's a thing to show off, maybe find some comfort with when in the mood; like chocolate, but otherwise forget about until it's time to yell at for something the poor beast can't possibly understand.

I find myself fighting with others who want to keep breeding their poor animals who's offspring take homes away from other waiting in shelters. But we can't give up, we have to help people understand.

It just breaks my heart to see the faces of dogs euthanised every week...maybe if everyone had to see them instead of pretending they don't exist. We shouldn't be saying "please" spay and neuter...it should be the law. Lovely video.

Well, people can be thoughtless, and they can be selfish, and they can be greedy, but some of the "humane" activists I've seen are all of those things put together, with a dash of malice added. They always want more money, want to put people on more guilt trips, and some of them are out hunting for dogs to kidnap and kill, even if the dogs are loved and wanted. Animal rights and animal welfare are two very, very different things. What you're talking about is animal rights and yes, those people can be nuts. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) wants all animal ownership abolished. The ASPCA, however, rescues animals from abusive situations and finds them new homes.

Humans can be so greedy that they need to "make their money back" or "see what his/her pups look like" or "let the kids experience..." Ya know what? Get a J-O-B. Go to the pound and some of his/her siblings are already there and while you are there let your kids experience "homelessness"!!! I thought humans were supposed to be superior. Must be a rumor.
