Peter Gabriel wasn't with Genesis in the eighties. This doesn't sound much like PG solo or 80's Genesis but it's imo just as good as either for the most part.
Tony's contribution in Genesis has always been underestimated. He is the backbone of the band. I love this song. It was one of the favourites of my cousin who passed away two years ago at the age of 37 because of a brain tumour. He was
a HUGE Genesis fan and Tony was his favourite artist within the group.
Wow... I had not heard this in YEARS!!!! Say as in 1988 or so??? I have the cassette tape of Quicksilver and this song was one of the best on that tape! Love it! Thanks for posting!!!!!!!! :)
tony banks is a talented musician that isnt takin seriously in his solo career. as he is only reconisied in genesis, well done tony keep on writting and playing your music will always have a place in my heart
he is in hearts of all Genesis fans , without him not Genesis would be possible! and I agree . he deserved a great place in the world as solo career , maybe he gave all his talent to the band first forgetting himself and that s wasnt well done ...
A shortcut to nowhere this turned out to be. Tony Banks' efforts would be better spent elsewhere. I like the song purely for the historical value as part of the Genesis story, (same for the rest of the Quicksilver soundtrack) but all the same, Tony should not be proud of it.
Given the (younger) age of Fish in this video, and the 80s power-rock sound, I would place this video right at the beginning of Fish's solo career - right after he left Marillion in the late 80s. (And the deranged cop says to Harry Calahan [in Magnum Force]: "Am I right?)...
It is actually from 1986, when Fish was still very much in Marillion. Right between Misplaced Childhood and Clutching at Straws. They made this 12 inch single with Fish in a Genesis T-shirt and Tony Banks in a Marillion T-shirt!
Of all the videos that I've "favourited" I come back to this one the most. It gets better every time I watch it and I love it to bits. I'm off to eBay to buy the 12". Remember those folks?
Oh Fish, my scottish hero, you surprised me with this video. Thanks for turning back the clock for a little while and thanks for the person who posted this video.
Fish is such a great singer and performer ut i think that this so is far too "popy" and as in fact a total wreck :-0 Fish had great songs but this is far from his talent...i love the clip funny to watch as log as the vol. low!! that for sharing anyway :-)
Fish is the man and we all know it. This is pretty catchy, and captures Fish's unique vocal talent pretty well. Just needs a Rothery riff or two in it!
Ok Nigletgook, Genesis sucks nowadays and this songs isn't quite good, but you should listen to the old stuff Genesis made with Peter Gabriel. Foxtrot, Nursery Crime, Selling England by the Pound and A lamb lies down on Broadway are brilliant masterpieces. Then you will understand why they we're such a big influence on Marillion.
Fish is always great, even is the song isn't. I prefer their cooperation on "Another Murder Of A Day" from the Tony Banks-album "Still". Highly recommended!!
Wow I remember this video on the Italian MTV back when it first came out....I wonder what would've happened, had the two of them joined Collins, Rutherford and Hackett to record a CD together!

@MrMikej413 Yes it does sound like Pop 80's Genesis with Gabriel's like voice.
And most of P.G"s. 80 stuff is way better than this.

Lol. Sounds like the '80 Genesis with Peter Gabriel.

not make the 1995 strictly inc. album.

Kudos to the director for your homage to Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid!
It ties nicely with the Quicksilver film staring Kevin Baccon as a bike messenger.
Not to forget all the films mentioned in the song lyrics like Midnight Cowboy to Easy Rider to Lone Ranger.

You can tell Fish wrote (or had a say in) the lyrics. Anyone spot the "skyline drifter" bit? :)

You're right. It was for an early film starring Kevin Baccon called QUICKSILVER. Baccon played a bicycle messenger, set in San Francisco.
