Internet and television restrictions should be the responsibility of parents. They should have to manually put a parental lock on their systems if they want it; it should not be default, and be mandated for everyone else. I will also say that with the censorship that is done on TV, I find it amazing how profanity is censored, but not the violence. A child hearing a word isn't as bad as seeing someone stabbed to death. Still, it should be the parents' responsibility to block it if they wish.
Some holocaust historian came to our school and showed us pictures and told us the most brutal stories of the war.
I was fuked up for months after that. Sure the holocaust was real but they really didn't prep any of us for what we were about to see. In that instance I would have rather have remained innocent until I would have been able to handle that part of history or at least have been more prepared for what I saw and heard.
We're getting an Internet Retarding Gun- sorry, "filter"- here in Oz. Yay! The kidz won't be safer, whatever that is, and our net will be slow as Sarah Palin's inner hate glacier.
If the question was "Do you know why the water doesn't fall off the Earth?" then your *20-something* co-worker wouldn't be able to gain access. LOL
I think it is important to protect children from seeing certain things. In Stickam the other day this girl was telling us about 10 year-olds having sex and 8 year-olds smoking weed. That's a problem. I don't think a rating system is the answer. I think parents should just be more responsible...
thank you gratex, honestly, using the internet is just like going outside, you can encounter anything, the only solution is parenting. OMG we have to talk to the children! Oh Noes!!!
Asking questions wouldn't stop kids/idiotsfrom entering a website but it would help them learn. They would probably just google the question to learn the answer and gain access.
When one starts to recognize the distinction between those who favor freedom through knowledge and those who constantly fight those advocates of knowledge and awareness, one quickly begins to see who is who in the zoo.
the question test is funny because I had thought about that once to grant access to my free website...I didn't want dumbasses to see my free content and I thought that a small battery of intellectual questions would be a nice technique to weed out the weaklings.

People who use the internet as a weapon and not a tool or toy are the biggest threat.

At my old jr high school the opposite happened.

The people who are so concerned about children being hurt sexually are deluded and have never thrashed a youngster. Now THAT is fun!

funny you brought this up as there is a pedo on YT that advocated children as young as 9 years of age to have children.
