Yes, the G3 was the former Bundeswehr rifle, now its the G36. The G3 was given for free to Turkey as a NATO ally.

To me the G3 is crap, the enormous recoil hinders you to shoot at full automatic holding fire on aim at the same time. Useless, heavy piece of shit.
