The point is if Nike cared or whoever company they would hire the adults in the area. Help build schools, making them dependent with better pay and really helping the world. Or simply try and slave us here in America see how fast they get taken down
So what is it better to do? Ensure that these people are unemployed by buying from somewhere else? Then they'd definatly starve to death for sure. And as history proves. The work conditions do improve.
how is the rest of the country liveing? im guessing about the same nike didnt destroy there country. i am against hard labour and stuff but the rest of the country is no better off.
Actually, the word democracy is not in the constitution. But «Liberty and Justice for all» is. The question is, if you don't buy Nike, what do you buy? Reebok? Adidas? Asics? They're all the same.
Michael Jordan Did this and when he saw the workers and conditions after traveling to the factories he donated his $28 million to the factories and workers. Mike is a great person!
I am interested at where do these creators of thus film are taking money to finance their traveling and not working [I know that giving lectures and travels is work but does it give money?] . Thanks for this interesting movie.
go new balance.. they make their shit in america and don't have to outsource and exploit people to make shoes. Nike only wants to make a buck at any expense.
@BackStageCowboy... Actually, only a very small portion of New Balance's shoes are made in the USA. The majority of New Balance products (shoes and clothes) are made in sweatshops in the developing world. Peace, Jim Keady
@da8wonder Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
It really REALLY sucks but UNTIL we get OUR country in order and people back to work and take care of our poor and or misplaced people I DON'T GIVE A SHIT about what's going on in another country NOT A LITTLE BIT
I think it is true us as consumers have a lot of power. However,if we cant change Nike ways then maybe we can change the way of future generations and future business people that this is wrong and that there is ways to gain profit in a business in a business ethical way not having to exploded people in order to gain more profits.
You try to tell people in the states that Nike is bad. They will stop buying Nike products and its factory in Indonesia will be closed. When the factory is closed they will no longer receive $1.25 / day but $0.00 /day.
I'm from Indonesia. This is not about NIKE. We are underpaid everywhere we work here. If government minimum wage level is too low then every company won't pay higher than that.
We need to work to stop this happening, not only work, but work as society, fight until we succeed, and stop when we believe. Get rid of sweatshops, someday, we will win the fight of sweatshops! Don't stop fighting!
Your right and just and correct. I just dont know how you can get the world to follow it takes government involvement maybe but i commend you on your efforts and getting the message accross and trying to make a difference and caring for people and their impoverishment. It's great to see a religious man who actually follows the moral conduct his faith preaches, not just talking the talk. But...hopefully you realize, Jim, that main stream Catholicism is a fraud by and large. Think about it...from the city that persecuted Christians came the modern day center of Christianity? The same place that continued the legacy of the Roman Empire under the banner of Christianity? Let's be real, man. Vatican and its institutions are evil...
@PrecisePuncher Please, don't turn this into a religious discussion. It's so far above that. This is about human rights, about injustice. Let's be real, humanity should always come before religion.
@PrecisePuncher The only time I thought about religion was in the very beginning when the video talked about the school he coached at. Other than that... no.
Really amazing documentary... I have always been aware that these kind of practices exist but have never had it revealed in such an eloquent and hard-hitting way. We've all heard that things are made in Asia because the labour is cheap. It's so fucked up that NIke et al could still make massive profits even if they paid those workers $10 a day which would be enough for them to live OK. Instead they are totally raping their dignity. How many other companies, I wonder, are as bad?H&M?TopMan?Adidas
Wow! Thank you for this eye opening doco. How brave of you both to live in Indonesia on a factory workers wages. I love your integrity and courage. The only way these impossible conditions can be perpetuated is because it is out of sight and out of mind for most of us in the west. We as consumers and 'wealthy' westerners have immense power. 1.Don't buy nike 2.Spread word of it's disgusting practices 3. Support workers rights to minimum wages and safe work conditions 4. Lobby government thanks
16:28 So a precious lunch is more important than addressing a more serious problem like 21st century sweatshop conditions? Now I see how these CEOs think. Reminds me of that scene in The Shawshank Redemption when Andy Dufrense mentioned money to the warden.
the workers are happy because their basic needs (food water, education) are being met through this job, the CEO's are happy because their golfing and yachting needs are met, the consumers are happy because they get their Nike Football needs are met. Everyone is happy :D
Soon though, the workers will become educated and work on better conditions because they know how to invest their hard earned money.
There will come a time when circumstances will change, so hang in there and work hard.
If they brought these factories to America I am sure we could bring more jobs to us and improve our situation. I am really not sure about what would happen in Indonesia, China, or Thailand, though, but there are consequences either way, whether we take the Nike factories out or not.
Slavery never ended in America, it just moved to a different country. Its cheeper too because you don't have to ship the slaves to America to do the work, unlike the African Americans. They can do the slave work in their own country.
i truly am beginning to think that fuckers like the ceo chap should be hung, i mean to death hung. in front of the all the millions of people that he has exploited to make his riches off of.

Jim- It would be great if you could have shown just how much (little) Nike would have to spend to give these people a decent life. Even if they ONLY increased their wages 3X, it seems, according to your data on wages, that it would hardly cost Nike anything. I'd bet a 3X increase would do wonders. It wouldn't fix the sewer situation, but is that Nike's fault? Maybe it's the towns fault. I don't know. But if you could show Nike that by just spending a tiny bit more, these people would have more.
wow, this guy just figured out the church is only about money??? ALL religion is a scam. I can only hope that one day, people wake up and realize this, walk into every known church on earth and burn them to the ground.
@simplycomplicated333 It makes me so sad to hear you say that...the church has nothing to do with money. I live in a community where many of us live at the poverty line so we can care for those who have nothing. I intentionally don't wear sweatshop clothing. I've fallen in love with the poor, and it's only because I'm a Christian. What you see in the church is not always what everyone in it thinks. Please don't make such broad and bigoted statements--Christians are human beings too.
@DragonTalkShow Is this why the pope struts around preaching "help the poor" as he sits on his gold thrown. Located in the Vatican church which is made up of marble floors and gold pillars. It hardly sounds anything like the story of Jesus who apparently walked around in shredded clothes helping those in need. If in fact this story is true. Then it doesn't take religion to make people do good things. Majority of wars being fought are religious wars. It's time to wake up.
@simplycomplicated333 Again, what you see in the Church doesn't very accurately reflect Christ or what Christianity is really meant to be. Trust me--I've had more trouble dealing with Christians resisting Christ than non-Christians. It's plain to me that you appreciate the REAL Jesus, the one who actually gave a care about something other than hating abortionists and homosexuals. That's the Jesus I follow.
@DragonTalkShow Then your a cafeteria christian. You pick n choose whatever you think is best But you still represent an organization that threatens children into believing in that nonsense. If they don't follow the world of "god" (man) then they burn in hell for eternity. Is this something you believe? Christianity in particular has taught mostly nonsense that has been disproved over time. Cosmology being it's greatest failure. Nobody needs religion, just common sense.
@JaceTheAce555 so prove it. Every one of you delusional cowards says the same thing, but comes up with nothing more than fairytales to so called "prove it". Believe what you want. Whatever motivates you, but don't tell me your little fantasy is real.
@simplycomplicated333 the red sea, they found chariot wheels covered in coral and fish debris, okay, listen, I dont have time for people who stomp on eachother cuz they think they kno everything. I can tell u alot more, but evolution sounds stoopid. goo into man? thats ridiculous. dont even bother replying I have better things to do then stay on my computer and watch u type shit
I bought an Old Navy shirt today and it said it was made in Cambodia? aren't all clothes and products made by these Corporate Mobs? enslaving those who work for them and those of us who by their products...I may be wrong but what brand of sneakers are made in the U.S. under fair working conditions for their employees....I definitely will by them....heck even if they are not gymshoes what about a nice pair of casual or dress shoes...
@chinewmarie Only one I can think of is New Balance. They assemble some of there shoes out of foreign components in the US. They can do a lot better by using US made components and make all there shoes in the US.
Stoping letting corporate marketing manipulate your consumption..............you have the power to control the abuse by refusing to participate in it...........
This is just wrong n the people who do this n inslave the people will go to hell for this these people only care bout them selves n there families there life purpose its on pure greed n control n for this they will pay one day
i look foward to the great americant depression. Please Lord make the markets bottom out in the united snakes so we can become our deservant position of 3rd world. Then we will wake up and take over the nwo with a true world order. It's the only way. We have to be pushed off the cliff to know it's time.
THE WORLD AND THIS ANIMAL CALLED MAN NEED TO BE FINISHED...!!!PERIOD!!!!!.....IF U RE GONNA KEEP HAVING HOPE FOR A BETTER WORLD,U ARE THINKING LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD..........
@feliS2012 People like you don't give a shit about the people who actually work..
You probably are some rich kid who has never worked a day in his/her life.
These people work for less then you'd make at mcdonalds and they do alot more work then you would do.
No wonder why the illuminati have the world under control.
People like you don't have the balls to stand up for whats right, you just keep going no matter what happens, if someones killed it doesn't matter to you people.
why is there only 13000 people who has watched this.. this is disgusting and I am truely sorry that I have every worn nike ever in my life. My heart goes to those who are affected by this
so what if nike pulled out of asia and raised there prices and had everything made in the u.s.a.? would these people bitch for screwing the asians out of there jobs? they people who work at these shops said they liked working there and were proud of it.
@turdlinger5000 ur right, the econ has to fail in order for a new system to work. The NWO is to accomodate and control when it does. Its up to the people not to believe the BS that will be fed to us using the controlled media. Theyll shut the net down, or at least anything controversial, like this. There could be a FF or a fake ww that millions will die from, they dont care. They want red china, world wide, and they want alot of people to die.
same story, different times! We still fight and exploit each other to have a false sense of power. We dont' care about each other. Does anyone really think we care about the earth either?
You can't entirely blame Nike for the low pay. Not saying they're not to blame, but the countries to which they have offshored their production have poor governments that care little for their people and have horribly low labor standards. Part of the race to the bottom. It sucks. But you can support global labor progress by buying Fair Trade goods, products produced by people independent of corporations. It is a little more expensive generally, but it eliminates dehumanization and pays decently.
@matt12491 yes but taking advantage of a genodidal government to make money should be illegal and phil knight should be executed for crimes against humanity. Phil Knight COULD pay those people better and build better living conditions for them.. Phil Knight has the Indonesian government by the balls with the money that they give them! But Nike is even MORE evil than their government because even though they practically own the whole place they do nothing to make things better only worse!
it just makes me sad how only one side of the story is emphasized. if there wasn't for the factories then people wouldn't even have the little money they now earn. plus the cultural differences. it is truly ignorant for people from western cultural hemisphere to judge those of eastern. it's just as good as if i as an european said that americans are obese inbred morons, end of story. yes topic of sweatshops as it was depicted is truly painful but people please be just a tiny bit more critical!
@mastershan87 It's strange, as the sweatshops are well known by now, but people tend to conveniently forget about them when they go to buy the latest shoes
@ELLEisBritish i have to write about nike sweatshops too! do you know any good, updated websites that discuss the issue? All the websites I found contained outdated information (i.e. from 2005 or older). Thanks
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sure there are other major corporations that do the same thing: exploiting the poorest of the poor, bullying the weak, disrespecting human dignity, playing God in other people's lives to fulfill their self-serving needs and because of pure human greed. In the eyes of our Maker, we (rich or poor) are all created equal... and all of us are accountable of what we have and have not done in our power to make things better for everybody in this world.
The point is if Nike cared or whoever company they would hire the adults in the area. Help build schools, making them dependent with better pay and really helping the world. Or simply try and slave us here in America see how fast they get taken down

Christianity in particular has taught mostly nonsense that has been disproved over time. Cosmology being it's greatest failure. Nobody needs religion, just common sense.

I bought an Old Navy shirt today and it said it was made in Cambodia? aren't all clothes and products made by these Corporate Mobs? enslaving those who work for them and those of us who by their products...I may be wrong but what brand of sneakers are made in the U.S. under fair working conditions for their employees....I definitely will by them....heck even if they are not gymshoes what about a nice pair of casual or dress shoes...
chinewmarie 2 months ago
@chinewmarie Only one I can think of is New Balance. They assemble some of there shoes out of foreign components in the US. They can do a lot better by using US made components and make all there shoes in the US.

@jtmjtm2001 but they also produce in asia

i look foward to the great americant depression. Please Lord make the markets bottom out in the united snakes so we can become our deservant position of 3rd world. Then we will wake up and take over the nwo with a true world order. It's the only way. We have to be pushed off the cliff to know it's time.

My heart goes to those who are affected by this
Elyphante 2 months ago
so what if nike pulled out of asia and raised there prices and had everything made in the u.s.a.? would these people bitch for screwing the asians out of there jobs? they people who work at these shops said they liked working there and were proud of it.
turdlinger5000 2 months ago
@turdlinger5000 ur right, the econ has to fail in order for a new system to work. The NWO is to accomodate and control when it does. Its up to the people not to believe the BS that will be fed to us using the controlled media. Theyll shut the net down, or at least anything controversial, like this. There could be a FF or a fake ww that millions will die from, they dont care. They want red china, world wide, and they want alot of people to die.

There is no justice in the current system - This will not change unless we change the system itself to one that supports all Equally.
We have to place value on Life - not profit - I am 1 vote for an Equal Money System as a new means of Economic Fairness
Basic Income Grant is the first step to creating a new world.
Don't just stop at watching this video - research Equal Money

You can't entirely blame Nike for the low pay. Not saying they're not to blame, but the countries to which they have offshored their production have poor governments that care little for their people and have horribly low labor standards. Part of the race to the bottom. It sucks. But you can support global labor progress by buying Fair Trade goods, products produced by people independent of corporations. It is a little more expensive generally, but it eliminates dehumanization and pays decently.
matt12491 3 months ago
@matt12491 yes but taking advantage of a genodidal government to make money should be illegal and phil knight should be executed for crimes against humanity. Phil Knight COULD pay those people better and build better living conditions for them.. Phil Knight has the Indonesian government by the balls with the money that they give them! But Nike is even MORE evil than their government because even though they practically own the whole place they do nothing to make things better only worse!

it just makes me sad how only one side of the story is emphasized. if there wasn't for the factories then people wouldn't even have the little money they now earn. plus the cultural differences. it is truly ignorant for people from western cultural hemisphere to judge those of eastern. it's just as good as if i as an european said that americans are obese inbred morons, end of story. yes topic of sweatshops as it was depicted is truly painful but people please be just a tiny bit more critical!
somnambuul 3 months ago
@somnambuul Wait, are you saying the sweatshops are good because it means these people will earn at least some money?
blablablablabla951 3 months ago
@blablablablabla951 Its hard to believe that after this people remain ignorant fucks... they probably just need to justify the nikes on their feet!
mastershan87 3 months ago
@mastershan87 It's strange, as the sweatshops are well known by now, but people tend to conveniently forget about them when they go to buy the latest shoes
