I fabricated a chrome spare wheel cover that retains the radiator and fit it at the front so it looks like a spare tyre

ERCO of Calif. Had Guy in Australia Custome Fab Some Highway Gears for Trans.

Rad. is also in the Back (I took off the Rear Hatch door & notched Bumper & had HOWE Radiators Custome Fab an Aluminium One for it). Engine Fan Sucks Aire IN.

Have to work to keep it cool, tho', Aux Scirocco Rad. Underneath for now with Fan. Might have to put 2 Aux Rad's.

Looks like the engine is still in the back (you can see the bump in the engine bay door) and I'm guessing he mounted the Radiator on the bullbar up front

yer initially a V6 is all that fits but i made a fibreglass bootlid (can be seen buldging a bit), and moved the rear engine crossmember back and pushed out the bumber and bar 50mm so it would slide into the engine bay

na not chev, its actually an alloy 3.5L rover V8 which in total weighs about 10kg more than the standard 1.8L VW aircooler engine, except this has 200 more hp.

That's a damn good engine! It's based on the old aluminum 221 CID GM engine that was used in early sixties Oldsmobiles, and Buicks.

If you dig around you can find some nice high performance stuff for them. Edelbrock probably still has some four barrel intake manifolds for them, and I'm pretty sure Ofenhauser does.

haha thanks mate,

top speed is still about 140 due to the standard gearbox ratios but it gets there faster than the 1.8L aircooled motor,

0 - 100kph is around 8 seconds.

Sure is a handful to drive in the wet as the back end tried to overtake me sometimes but its awesome fun to drive!
