Just amazing shapes there. I love those old tall Pitch Pines, definately one of the most beautiful roads I've seen. There's also an Elwood on Long Island, but it isn't as nice (its all developed).
Beautiful road trip ! I tracked you the whole way on google earth ! If you take a right on Moss mill rd you come to amotol raceway after a mile or 2. What is that ?
@joe2trees Well first, I'll tell you about Amatol. That was a munitions plant during World War 1. After that closed up, Charles Shwabb built a wooden board racetrack (for cars). It was called Amatol Raceway, or Atlantic City Raceway. The top race drivers in the country raced there during the 1920s, but I think it closed down in 1932. The dirt oval can still be seen, and hiked on.
