  • that little massaging attempt at 3:26 was kinda gay

  • 3rd best in the country, he could have finished each round in under ten seconds. size means nothing in this dominant sport, all about technique lads.

  • @TraceurMeeka

BJJ is more ground fighting compared to Judo, which is more stand up throws.

The judoka even said he didnt want to fight Jason on the ground, and the bullshit rules here gave the judoka his wish. MMA is waaaaaay more realistic than a judo match and a BBJ match so dont try and make out like its not.

The stupid rules just werent in favour of Jason. They were basically banning him from using ALL his strong points(ground fighting and striking)

  • @SkemeKOS Judo battle, judo rules. Bjj battle, bjj rules. MMA battle,MMA rules.Stupid or not, every martial arts have his own rules,if you are trying a judo battle, you have to accept the judo rules! I mean, it's quite simple! You can't win a judo fight with striking, even if is your stronger point. It's like trying to play football match with a baseball bat : )peace

  • @relentlazy

I know all of that LOL! And thats the point Im making. If the BJJ guy is forced to not be allowed to use his strong points then of course hes going to lose. The problem is the idiots here who think judo is better because it beat a BJJ guy. They forget that the BJJ guy wasnt even allowed to even USE his BJJ!

  • @SkemeKOS ya ya you're right,my bad! just misunderstood you :)

  • @TraceurMeeka

How can you expect more from an MMA fighter? MMA fighters spar realistically, not under bullshit rules like this. I LOVE japanese jiu jitsu/judo but there sparring rules are complete bullshit.

  • "take a leg"

no longer allowed to grab ur opponents leg in tachi-waza due to all the american and russian wrestlers dominating international judo by using wrestling techniques

  • @TraceurMeeka im a sports jujutsu fighter, fullcontact, so my judo skills arent nearly that of a blackbelt judoka. but even when im getting my ass whipped in a judo match, i look bored or even distracted, even though i'm actually trying my very hardest simply because i dont use my eyes to keep track of my opponent, so much as simply knowing where he is based on where i'm holding onto his gi etc. Looks like he's doing the same here. japanese dont take it easy on ppl when it comes to budo, usually

  • @veshkeat

Same here...kinda I train Gracie Jiu Jitsu as a hobby and when I spar, I try to look like Im not trying...almost like Im bored lol

Its a frame of mind that many dont understand.

  • Just an ugly victory based in highly unrealistic sporting rules

  • Could you be emotionally detached at work and not know it? Sure, if you’re detached. There’s a party in your head and you’re not invited. slapCompany

  • He is very good but he needs to practice his throws...and the techniques he knows them well and is a master his just like off his game or isent customed to the art of judo...

  • LOL! The judoka wasn't ever trying. If he wanted to, he would have beaten him every time with 10 secs.

  • Missed him by inches... I guess it depends on your point of view.. even 5 feet can be defined in inches.

  • "- I almost had the choke"

    not even close lol

  • LOL omg hearing what this idiot are saying, make me SICK!

In Japan even today a lot of people train Martial arts. It's not like in Eu or Usa that people train for fight, we train for totally different reasons.

In Japan people start training at 5-7years old and train for all life. I know guys that train for more then 40-50 years.

I hate foreigner, stay the hell out of Japan! and explaining why would be like explaining to a pig why he is dirty

  • @MANUELBRB lol

  • I want to learn Judo purely to embarrass and confuse people on the streets. I won't even transition into a ground game it will just be "get up so I can throw you again". No ones going to know what to do with that.

  • Hahaha. Hey, Jason buddy, you forgot to learn the whole entire other half of Judo when you spent all your time learning "b"JJ. Ya know, Tachi Waza... The other side of the coin.. The side that you "b"JJers seem to think isn't important.

The only thing that makes "b"JJ "b"JJ is that it is missing an entire aspect of Judo.

"BJJ" = half of Kano's Judo.

  • 5:06 He's like " I'm not even sweating"

    Thumbs up (:

  • Judo the best sport in the world.

  • wow the guy destroyed jason

  • missed him by inches? he missed him completely

  • The judo player is taking it fairly easy but Jason did not bad for having not much tachi waza ability. His newaza looks quite good though.

  • To be fair the young american lad was up against it cos the jap was good , but this shows the short comings of BJJ as its all about 1 on 1 but in self defense arenas you could be in a bar or pub , up against a few oponants so you can not stay on the floor as someone (or few) are gonna pile in , the judo guy can throw and move and being thrown on a mat is fine but on the road or pub carpet it will hurt . Dont get me wrong bjj is great 1 on 1 but in a pub fight ?

  • @nobbytang I couldn't agree more. It's great to learn ground, but enough to get back up safely and quickly.

  • @nobbytang your right, thank god we have Japanese Jiu Jitsu aswell :D

  • Okawa has an interesting fighting style. For the first two rounds, he was fighting Parisi style, i.e. double lapel. This lets him do throws to both sides without changing grips. It wasn't until Jason got very defensive in the 3rd round that he took a more traditional grip and threw with Tai Otoshi. Amazing flexibility on the mat.

  • how is he gonna take out the tapes in his leg ?

  • he said he almost landed a triangle, he's fighting for pride, and he missed a flying arm bar by inches. not even close. haha. he forgot he was fighting with a black belt and champion of Judo in Japan. Duh . . . . He's just a white belt, and not even close to the next belt. hahaha. sooo funny. they should've chosen an opponent in which he had a small chance. they must've foreseen his cockiness and they chose the best fighter they had so he could eat his dust like the other episodes.

  • @booringdude069 I know right? That guy is a cocky punk. And, OF COURSE he had to bring up gjj/bjj in a program that is about Judo. "b"JJers are forever trying to legitimize themselves. Not to mention it was all lies about how "b"JJ spawned from Jiu Jitsu along with Judo as if they were two seperate off shoots. Sorry to burst Jason's bubble but his precious "b"JJ came from Judo Ne Waza nothing more.

  • That's what happens when jujitsu players come to judo dojos

  • the japanese guy forced jason to play his game.....he refused to go to the ground where he knew jason would be stronger.....good strategy

  • At the first round the guy seemed to look like: ... wtf is he trying to do?

    xP

  • Why does he challenge the champ in his own field he knows,i know & I think so everyone knows this dude is gonna loose. But anyways you can't ignore the fact that this show taught us the importance and the beauty of Judo.

  • Thanks for posting this one. After watching this I gained more respect for Mr. Jason and BJJ. Osu

  • the mecca of judo. Its not the kodokan you fools

  • they kind have missed the point that people in judo dont set out to destroy each other its what kano was against.

  • I love judo as a style but i'm a fan of the sport part.

in classes we do an no limit type of sparing.

  • wacthing this documentary changed the way i think about judo

    thumbs up if u agree

  • Nice match. I really like judo, too complex for my taste but it's really cool too bad Jason gets screwed with the anti-jujitsu rules lol

  • im not a fan of judo rules. 2 of the times jason was thrown down he had a very good chance of getting an arm bar or submission once on the ground. its one thing to throw someone on the ground but it's a different thing to win a fight

  • ohwawa has nice hair he looks like a supersayian .....sortve.

  • Many people think that judo is merely throwing and ground techniques and that there 's no self-defence against things like kicks and punches. That's why they almost never choose judo. They are wrong about this. Judo kata offers you a lot of new ways to combine your basic techniques with new advanced techniques to defend yourself.

  • @FearThisChannel Dude what do they mean when theyre talking about low centers of gravity and momentum?

  • @FearThisChannel I prakticed Judo for over 6 years. I have never seen something like that in Judo. I read aboud it years later. You see these kata only as Dan (black belt). And they are only kata. In most schools Judo is only sport.

  • @ljEljot That's not true. Judo is an art, which can be used as a sport. You can focus on the sportive aspect, which happens in many schools, as you say. But you can also use your judo for other purposes. Armbars, for instance, are not permitted in competition, still they're part of your judo education. Why? Because judo is way more than a sport.

  • @FearThisChannel In most schools means in some schools it not. I know only my school. They got the Focus on the Sport aspekt. Maybe if i got 6 more Years into it, i would have got some use for it. With "only" 6 Years it is not much. But Judo helped me in many situations in my life. Many mischances and accidends would have been not so harmles for me without my contitioning from Judo. So all in all it was a good thing to do it. Now i train Bujinkan. That is more suitable for me.

  • @ljEljot I suppose you mean Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu? That's very interesting. I have the same thing. Next to judo, I also train aikibudo, which is a hard-style aikido. I chose it because it is a good combination with judo and because it is a good answer to my interest in budo.

  • @FearThisChannel Yes,sure. The thing by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi.

  • @FearThisChannel Yes,sure. The thing by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi.

Do you mean Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu by Takeda Sōkaku or realy a form of Aikido by Morihei Ueshiba?

  • @ljEljot Both actually, very hard to explain. Yes it is a lot like Daito, since this was the form the man who is the "leader of aikibudo now" learned. He was a student of Minoru Mochizuki. That's why it's kind of a mixup of Daito and Yoseikan Aikido. Alain Floquet is the master who made aikibudo the way it was. In addition to hand to hand combat, there is also Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu, the oldest known sword art of Japan, which is also part of aikibudo.

  • @FearThisChannel Sounds interessting. It was very interessting for me to learn, that there is not the one Jiu Jitsu. Instead there is a great variety of stiles/ryū. As a child I thougt there are only Judo, Ju Jutsu, Karate, Kung Fu and (very exotic) Silat. What a mistake!

  • @ljEljot Yeah, I had the same simple vision when I was a kid. When I thought of martial arts, I thought of people in white dresses throwing each other and guys moving quickly with their hands. I was obviously mistaken!

  • the flying failbar at 6:45 was great

  • one of my favourite "Human Weapon" episodes, thx for uploading!

  • "My only option, a sacrifice throw", he doesn't even try for the sacrifice, he just tries yet another sloppy "flying armbar".

I lol'd when he says "missed it by inches", you can see about two feet of space between his body and his opponents.

"Time to go to a signature mma move, a triangle choke"

it's called sankaku jime, and it's judo.

It's a shame, I generally enjoyed this series but the guys can be so ignorant and miss a big part of the point of martial arts, to get your ego under control

  • @zacharycbruce So glad I'm not the only one who sees this. This lying, ingnorance and arogance of "b"JJ makes my stomach turn and it's creating hordes upon hordes of obnoxious disrepectful Kano hating brats at an alarming rate here in the states.

  • @EricRyanCronin

My only real experience with BJJ practitioners is with guys who also practice judo, and generally they are top blokes. Unfortunately this guy is just a dick, and you get dicks in all sports/arts. I think MMA (fans and commentators especially) might have a lot to answer for. Personally I like that judo has keep very grass roots, I've heard it said that it's martial arts best kept secret. Keep tapout wearing douches in the MMA gyms and leave us to do our thing.

  • @zacharycbruce So very well said!

  • what's the explanation with White and Blue Gi's

  • @sprawlmessiah its used more in the IJF then japan haha but blue gi is usually just worn by a competitor so it is easier to award an ippon to the right judoka i know when i went to my last shiai they just made me wear a blue belt to show the difference between me and the other judoka

  • My buddy has a black belt in Judo, I have a Black belt in jiu jit su. Both of us are amateur mma fighters with similar records. We spar regularly and i can say that Judo take downs do as much damage as any strike. I love this style for its practicality for self defense and organized fighting.

  • judo kicks ass

  • Comment removed

  • @drummerguy4321 judo tugs cloth and throws ass to the ground

  • i got dissapointed :(

i spected to bill and jason learn Tai Otoshi :(

  • I'm looking to do Judo.....but I'm looking for a club that doesn't breed the 'Jock' mentality. Anyone know of a place in New York City?

  • @AsturiasGuitar check out oishi judo

  • For anyone who doesn't know judo. He's being gentle and he's only playing with Jason. He knows he's being watched and he doesn't want to show any lack of class by being a bully and he doesn't want to injure Jason. If you don't believe me try training with the national team in your country and remember national teams from all over the world come to Tokai to get extra hard training. You only survive if your super fit and very good at judo or because they are looking after you and treat you kindly.

  • @Bencheche72 :-)

  • bill said somethin abit foolish. he said that he'd jus use his strength n "bull rush him". has he not been payin any attention.

  • @pacbizkit hes to used to football if u ask me were suff like that actually works

  • @pacbizkit The entire show is a bit foolish, including everything they say

  • @pacbizkit

Yes, he has, hence why he isn't fighting. *Sigh* didnt you watch the last 6 minutes of this?

  • @MothRoom he shouldnt of said it in the first place is what im getting at *sarcastic pretentious makes me look a cock unfunny sigh*

  • @pacbizkit

*sigh* You should have made yourself clear, and my first sigh was a genuine sigh of exasperation, and this second one is a sarcastic, pretentious one which makes me seem like a cock to only you. You asked 4 it with your insecure paranoid presumption of a *sigh*

  • @pacbizkit

Give it a rest, I dont want to have an ego battle with you, you didnt make yourself clear, now you have to which I am half grateful apart from the fact that you come off as more of a whiny cock yourself [not saying that you are in person]. So forget about it.

  • @pacbizkit maybe he thought that when he would get pushed around then he will use his power to counter that

  • @pacbizkit lol, my thoughts exactly. I don't think he understands the concept of the "Gentle Way."

  • @pacbizkit I was a bit disapointed, that he wasn't chosen to fight. I realy would liked to see his "bull rush" fail^^

  • damn the judoka just played with chambers, i wanna see okawa fighting a skilled bjj fighter,he wud win 4 sure, judo rocks

  • @MakeLadiesHappy aculey jujisu is from okawa

  • @nmbo76jklq ohkawa is the name of the judoka is gonna fight jason chambers

  • @nmbo76jklq You mean okinawa...the island.

  • @nmbo76jklq actually its okinawa i think u got it right u just spelt it wrong haha its ok though that happens to me all the time

  • Lol a amater who trains only for year max and learn judo one or two times in dojo cant beat a skilled man who learn for judo...21 years... Dont you think?

  • He's doin the guy at 3.41 :D

  • bald guy would be better judoka because he has more weight. he fits his enemy category better.

  • but the judoka from wat i see he really can 'feel' the weight of his opponent and throw him

  • pro judoka won this fight on brute force.

  • @MrDetection actually, the only throw that require any force of the 3 was the second one. Both the first one, uchi-mata, and the last one, tai-otoshi (I think) was all due to the kuzushi and timing. Look at the first throw again, and you will see that he moves in, then waits for a good moment to finish the throw. Pretty darn sweet

  • @MrDetection he wudhad be knocked out

  • Another criticism of Aikido from somebody who has never really studied the art.....fyi....there were many Judokas that switched to Aikido when they saw its limitations.....check out Shoji Nishio 4th dan judo 5th dan karate and other high dans on Iado and Jodo

  • This is my favourite Human Weapon episode. All the other arts like Ninjutsu, Aikido etc seem to look fancier and more dramatic, but the throws Jason received here were for real, no cooperation needed, and against a fully resisting opponent. That's what makes it truly beautiful.

Also, the fact that Jason could'nt even move the guy. That's what it feels like going against a guy with a good 'base'. You'll only get it through sparring. Aikido guys never develop the 'base'.

  • @mild7p lol I've met one aikidoka with crazy base at my school but its based on his Ki training in aikido and he also wrestled which helped a bit

  • `That was very good but the direct translation from the samuri was jiu jitsu and i believe that if he had practiced more jiu jitsu that he could have won that fight easily.great program tho!!

  • Bill is the reason I like Fight Quest better.
