All I can say is WOW!!! I'm from Philly and I have some friends in New York that I go visit every now and then and all I can imagine is driving this Carrera GT on the New Jersey Turnpike on the way to New York City, midday when it's clear with a very very good radar installed. The only 2 supercars I want in my garage is this and the Lamborghini LP640 Versace!

Yea, read up on the unreliabillity of the Ford Gt. Its horrible, i've met a few X fgt owners, the performance is amazing but the gas milage is terrible, the doors are horribly large and its nowhere as beautiful nor perfect as a Carrera Gt

who cares about gas mileage in supercars, and i know 2 ppl with ford gts and they havent had any problems with them, and like dude said its the the best buy, 150g for that type of performance the cgt is good but the gt isnt far behind in terms of numbers

maybe but look at the cgt body construction vs the gt40. It's all C/F, the interior still has prestige. The gt40 is full of fiberglass and abs plastic. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It's just cheap and far less prestigious. I mean the subframe is all carbon on the cgt. And not to mention the sound. The sound alone has me sold over a gt40 any day. If I had 150k I'd put it as a down payment on the cgt.

even with c/f the cgt numbers arent that much greater than the ford gts numbers like i said i love the cgt, but in terms of performance ill go with the fgt, ill take the extra 250g and have the fgt gutted and a new interior put in if thats the case, and add twin turbos for added performance, but i respect your opinion so theres no real arguement from me im just a bigger ford gt fan. and in terms of sound i love both but the brute sound from the fgt is more attractive to me

I'm not talking about power to weight ratio. fiberglass vs carbonfiber weight difference is miniscule. I'm talking about the prestige of owning a c-gt. The class, the sound, It's more than a big engine in a small car. The Porsche History. It's the auro around a c-gt that makes it what it is.

If I wanted hp per dollar I'd just buy a c5 z06 and run a light build with a direct port or supercharger. Or maybe a 03 or 04 sc cobra mustang with a kenny bell 2.4 and maybe a 125 shot pill. When you buy a c-gt, enzo, zonda etc. etc. You are no longer in the same class. It's like a solid gold spoon compared to silver. Yeah it performs the same function but honestly...

if u wanna talk about history then ford has it too, need i remind it was the gt40 that came in 1st, 2nd n 3rd at le mans in the 60's so history isnt something niether of them lack, and in terms of class it does win just because of its name "Porsche" ppl see the Ford Gt and they its nice but because it has a Ford badge its not as appealing

All you have to do is look in the wheel well of the cgt to see the difference. Even it is carbon. The front air dam. The carbon lined and braced engine bay. The carbon door jams, seats and cabin. If Ford built it with better materials and more class I'd be more attracted to it. Also the ford gt40 was initially designed by lotus and the team was managed by a former Aston Martin race team manager.

The FGT was a great success until lemans placed caps on engine displacement. Ford works in a different manner than Porsche, buying knowledge and success to make a name for themselves. Porsche's racing history dates back 30 years prior to the success of the gt40. All in house and their primary focus is performance and racing. Porsche is just a name to some but to me its so much more than that.

Also the fastest le-mans car ever built was the porsche 917. It was the abrupt ending to the gt40's reign. It was so rediculously fast they would be at partial throttle even on the back stretch at 220+mph. Drivers were affraid to drive this and in many cases would opt for it's predisesor, the 908.

if get a room full of ppl who arent familiar with cars like we r and take the badges off each car they probably wont know which to choose from because theyre both attractive but when u put the badges back on theyre gonna go for the carrera just because its porsche a foreign car, not some ordinary ford, but im not disagreeing with u when u say its a different class tho

Nobody in the right mind would pick a gt40 over a cgt.. From 50 feet away it's subjective but if even given the opportunity to walk up to 2 feet away the difference are monumental.. Imagine if they could just start both cars? cgt would sell. Open both doors sit in both cars. cgt wins by a land slide. In every way the cgt is better. Carbon brakes, centerlock wheels etc etc etc etc I could go on and on and on. There is nothing better on the gt40 than the cgt other than price tag.
