When the SPLA and Khartoum signed a peace deal, Bashir didn't need Kony anymore and used him as a barging chip with Uganda. Bashir would expell the LRA and in return Kampala would make sure that John Garang would get an "accident". Which is exactly what happened.

I have talked to family members who have lost children or had family killed; farms and houses burned and women hacked to death after being raped. I have heard their stories of children being taken at gunpoint and then told to shoot their own parents to prove their loyalty. I have held them while they cried.

@ConnieMarieMoore I have seen the once fertile lands that were farmed for food be abandoned for fear of Kony's return. A few child soldiers return and have to be retrained how to be around their tribes again. I have been at the IP Camps outside of Gulu where 100s of Ugandans have been trying to stay together in safety for 25 years now education and have lost the ability to farm.I don't know where you searched for your information, but THAT is my 'optimized search engine'.

@taylarb1 unfortunatley it doesn't, since he has "brainwashed" uneducated children and since he has people who are close to him that carry his ideals and methodes if Joseph Kony dies, the LRA will continue. BUT having Joseph Kony removed (killed) is a good first step to stopping the LRA, it's propaganda and in the long term ultimatley taking down the LRA. I'm not any professional on the subject so this is just my opinion (albeit an educated one)

Omar Bashir used the LRA in his fight with the SPLA. Bashir armed the LRA and gave them a safe haven in Sudan to operate from. In return the LRA had to help Khartoum in it's fight against the SPLA. When the SPLA and Khartoum signed a peace deal, Bashir didn't need Kony anymore and used him as a barging chip with Uganda. Bashir would expell the LRA and in return Kampala would make sure that John Garang would get an "accident". Which is exactly what happened.

Problem here: UGANDA needs is an infrastructure/union to keep the money in the country. Instead a few will have low paying jobs from the oil plants and the SAUDI's will take the bulk of the booty.

LRA fighters were surrounded a couple of years ago in DRC, almost exterminated ,but DRC and Uganda army didn t finish them and let them re-organize and recruit more people.
The same thing for the Hutu rebels from Rwanda stationed in DRC for years.

@MissCariblady A lot of Ugandan soldiers actually believe he is a prophet and he is doing the right thing. There is a vid where they interview some top ranked LRA deserters called "Inside the LRA". Also there is another vid on how some abducted children who escaped share those beliefs.
Also Sudan has stopped backing pretty much and have helped crack-down on this bastard, Kony. Uganda gets a lot of it's weapons such as the new su-30's from it's oil btw not just sudan.
