NEW ORLEANS BORN PEOPLE ARE SO LUCKY.THEY HAVE MARDI GRAS THE SAINTS AND ALL THE GREAT NEW ORLEANS MUSIC AND SINGERS .THANK YOU GOD FOR GIVING US SO MUCH.HOTROD
If you ever get the chance, catch them on Lundi Gras...it is special tradition. This happens to be a very classic Mardi Gras Indian song. Dr. John does the best rendition.
You have not heard this song until you've heard it performed live by the Neville Brothers. It's almost a religious experience. I live in New Orleans and I have seen the Nevilles countless times. I remember hot summer nights in the 80's at Tipitina's ( before they had a/c ) being more than one toke and more than one drink over the line. Makes me nostalgic for the days of my mis-spent youth.
Yes! i go to see Bod Marley times in NYC 1970s, Seen the Neville Bros three times as well in the 80s what a great live band. see them do to sets at the Pepperment NYC or Irving Plaza... first set just warming up and 2nd set repleat and more, all together played abt 4 hours great and got a chance to tell them how much I enjoyed as they mingle with the crowd. great guys....big up Neville Bros.
Great performance. The Neville Brothers give a history lesson in this performance. Im glad they accented the percussion which is an intricate part of indigenous music. They had a great sound guy who knew how to balance the volume of the entire band. Now this is good music!
ha ha ha ha.....that's the most intellegent comment on this list...soulful brotha....every body want's to be chris walken or the music expert...it's so easy to sit in your armchair and critique music....all of these guys have got tons of heart and soul...
Great band, great song but no equal to the way Professor Longhair,Allan Toussaint,or Dr. John could play the slides on piano.Good but doesn't do justice to Earl King's immortal song.
@nightingalerider That's Art Neville on the piano. It is someone damn near to Dr. John. They've been close friends for years. Art's band , the Meters were the studio band on a lot of the good doctor's early records. On some of those records , it's Art playing piano , while Mack plays guitar.
It's good that Cyril can sing because he'd starve to death if he tried to make a living as a dancer. Happy Mardi Gras.

Besides Bob Marley & the Wailers in 1980, I have never heard a better sounding and balanced band on stage.
The Nevilles got so much power in their performance, simply beautiful and absolutely stunning !
