It's pretty hard not to love Tammy Faye. I had mixed feelings about Jim Bakker, but even when Tammy Faye was dramatic and crying, she was always real. She couldn't have faked all this for all these years, and her willingness to be open, talk about her faith, and be open beyond what the traditional evangelicals were, is testament to what I believe was a gift from God. If we are known by the love of God in our hearts, Tammy Faye Bakker Messner was at the head of the class.

She had quite a life. I remember watching her on TV when I was just a little boy, and she always had that unmistakable presence! A real lesson in keeping a heart of joy and a spirit of love!

She stood for tolerance, compassion and understanding. She had been through hardship and still remained positive and thankful for those who supported her during this time of her life--this included the gay community who she supported and loved in return. It's something rare to find an ally in the Christian faith when you are queer or otherwise shunned.

You're right and I think that anyone who can say such evil things about someone really need to take a good look in the mirror. She was a wonderful person who had a great love for God and for people. Even if you dislike someone, how can you wish them dead? It just shows how cruel some people are.

Get real people. It was a shame she died from cancer. However, She was one of the biggest frauds out there with the worst of the 'Televangelist'. She married two husbands who's main intent was to be deceptive to the public and then she had no problem with it. She sure could pick them didn't she? Mr. Falwell was a very sad man. He was a very judgemental man towards other people. So many people like Jerry Falwell that call themselves Christians. To me when you look at them in their eyes, you see such a hate. I believe that one of the biggest Christians I looked up to is Tammy Baker because she loved everyone and did not turn her back on them. . Not everyone has to agree with the way someone lives their life, but don't judge them, love them.

@mrpaco3 I agree - Tammy Faye Messner's heart was in the right place, even though her actions were not always in the best interest of the people she professed to serve. In the end, I can only say that she was, at the core of it all, a genuinely good person who wanted to do some good in this world. Like you say, we are not here to judge our fellow men. We are hear to LEARN, from our own experience and that of others - from the good and the bad.
