[2] These girls are trained in Q/A , and [3], These girls are in contests all the time with national audiences. I am not trying to sideswipe your good intentions here, Promise.

It was between the judge and Venus (who is the only one who knows what big mistake meant to her and her only). What happened , has happened, and we will never know what her big honest mistake was. She has never made a big bad mistake, I believe this, and I know he did not specify any kind or variation. Maybe one that is relevant to being humble?
@yodafish000 I couldn't agree more.. but personally, I believe that people are wired differently. Training helps but when you're body is against you (adrenaline rush, nerves) it's hard and sometimes it gets to us mentally. also Nobody is perfect so training is only half of the equation.
we're all but human and we're really not one to say or judge them because we're not on the same stage as they were..

The judges wanted a good decent positive learning experience from a huge ‘honest’ mistake. Again, why would you possibly think they would find her shallow? @HeRaCleO in real life it doesn't but when someone asks you that in an interview or a pageant then there's a catch. there's a scale.. they are looking at you mentally. The thing is you cannot give a stupid mistake. It has to be inspirational or watever and give impact to judges so they would give you a high score. But the thing is we don't know how each judge was brought up and what mistake they would be able to relate to and appreciate.

She came off as 'perfect', the opposite of humble. So it was not the mistake Q at all or the scale, etc.

No one besides Venus possibly knows the scale of her big honest mistake example she has to offer, we did not know what KIND he wanted. We did not know if it was good or bad. So we are left with a quandary? It was to see how humble Venus, it was to see if Venus can say of her honest mistakes; one best example of an honest mental error she made.
@yodafish000 I think she was just misinterpreted as saying she's perfect but she was just saying she doesn't have really Big/Major mistakes. From what I see in her reaction to the clamor due to her answer she doesn't let it get to her so this shows she's a positive person. The question might have gone easy on a negative person because they would have still been basking on the mistakes which they have done. also, if a mistake was made right already, why would it linger in ur mind? ryt??

I don't even know how to answer that question in such a way that the crown be ours. What I take from what Venus said is that we all make mistakes and none of those mistakes are made big enough or blown out of proportion because her family's love and support has always been there and it was enough to get over the mistake she has done.
This Q was between the judge and Venus, not between you, me or anyone else. How can we determine what she is thinking to scale, gauge, or determine what she blows out of proportion? You need to answer this question for me: What does a mistake mean to you? A mistake is a persons own error and responsible to the person that makes it to learn from it, it does not involve family.

@HeRaCleO - that is my point, the Q was so simple, it does not need analyzis. It is to see if you are humble and open-minded, SIMPLE. Why are you being so negative towards Venus' Q anyway. Who said it wasn't a huge honest mistake? I have made tons of big and small mistakes that required family support. Some big honest ones that I dealt with on my own and this made me a better person and a humbler human being; (THIS IS WHAT THE Q WAS ALL ABOUT!).

The Philippines did not answer her Q. In the MU, at this level, you must give a articulate 30-sec response. I am not against Venus BTW: "...one mistake example..."________, "...make it right:________. No answer, no crown. She didn't even pause. Instead she responded with shout-outs, thank-yous, said something about major problem and family, all of which the judge did not ask. I wish she took the Q as something more positive instead of taking it like he asked something bad she did, he didn't.
@yodafish000 Only a fellow BEAUTY QUEEN would be able to understand what goes on up there.. There were 3 billion viewing the pageant so it's probably not as easy as you think.
@HeRaCleO - I agree 100%. It also a fact, and I alwasys back my comments with facts, that there were 83 contestants on stage, 5 during the Q/A struggling. Very tough indeed for ALL contestants, especially the Q/A. Miss Universe and her court have been chosen and we should congratulate them in a humble manner, and I do. Still I think, that Venus misunderstood the Q. It is something I did want Venus, or any contestant to go though, but she did, and some won't accept it.

I don't want to put words from her mouth but I think what I understand is She can't remember any major mistakes she's done because she has the love of her family and friends and that was enough to help her get through those downfalls. Filipino's might need to reconsider on that interpreter since the last Filipino runner up from the ms. universe also blanked out.

She even answered her own question in english and I thought if she didn't have interpreters she might not have won it at all. Ms. Jamaica should've won..

He did not say; good, bad, big or small. It was RELATIVE to the person giving the answer, so it's not tricky. It was how big it was to her, she made them, not us, so what is the scale? only she knows that!

I think the only countries who always gets excited in Miss Universe pageant every year was those countries who already won titles so u can't blame them!

I am a humble person and admit these life learning mistakes and let the world know I become a better, more honorable person so I can instruct our children not to do the same mistake I made.

The Philippines did not answer her Q. In the MU, at this level, you must give a articulate 30-sec response. I am not against Venus BTW: "...one mistake example..."________, "...make it right:________. No answer, no crown. She didn't even pause. Instead she responded with shout-outs, thank-yous, said something about major problem and family, all of which the judge did not ask. I wish she took the Q as something more positive instead of taking it like he asked something bad she did, he didn't.

@yodafish000 Only a fellow BEAUTY QUEEN would be able to understand what goes on up there.. There were 3 billion viewing the pageant so it's probably not as easy as you think.

@HeRaCleO - I agree 100%. It also a fact, and I alwasys back my comments with facts, that there were 83 contestants on stage, 5 during the Q/A struggling. Very tough indeed for ALL contestants, especially the Q/A. Miss Universe and her court have been chosen and we should congratulate them in a humble manner, and I do. Still I think, that Venus misunderstood the Q. It is something I did want Venus, or any contestant to go though, but she did, and some won't accept it.

@yodafish000 I don't think she misunderstood the Q. she may have been misinterpreted or was not able to explain herself well. I don't want to put words from her mouth but I think what I understand is She can't remember any major mistakes she's done because she has the love of her family and friends and that was enough to help her get through those downfalls. Filipino's might need to reconsider on that interpreter since the last Filipino runner up from the ms. universe also blanked out.

"What is [one big mistake]" = big mistake or "[What is one] big mistake" = implies multiple choices. Like: "What is one word a person would use to describe you?". they are asking for the best big word that applies to the question. Not bad / biggest.

@yodafish000 I thought it sounded like a trick question. It is very difficult to lock on to one single mistake you have made and justify it. not to mention, you're expected to give a winning answer. If I was asked the question I wouldn't know how to answer it. Jimena's answer was even worse. Look up "Jimenas Big mistake" on youtube. She even answered her own question in english and I thought if she didn't have interpreters she might not have won it at all. Ms. Jamaica should've won..

@HeRaCleO - I agree with you, it is a little difficult to answer Venus' Q. I never said it wasn't. So, why does it sound like a trick question? The implication was; what was one great lesson you learned in you life that make you a better person you are today; that is really the Q if you break it down. I am giving my opinion or Venus for now. Her one great lesson could have been something about her family, school, work, pageant training, or just plain life. etc.

@yodafish000 I dunno but usually for me when I make mistakes it is very rare for me to correct them. Usually there isn't anything I could do about it except learn from them or be sorry it happened. You could learn the lesson but shit happens and usually its not our fault, and if it is our fault it is quite difficult, if not impossible to correct them. Who is to say what mistake is big or small? thats why I think its like a trick question...

@HeRaCleO - OK, what does a 'mistake' mean to you? If fact, a mistake is a common error, a mental error. You have never misundstood somehting, forgot something?, locked your keys in your car?, left the lights on?, etc. THESE ARE MISTAKES. They are NOT defined as small, big, good or bad.
He did not say; good, bad, big or small. It was RELATIVE to the person giving the answer, so it's not tricky. It was how big it was to her, she made them, not us, so what is the scale? only she knows that!

It might not make sense to the judge and strike her as shallow or watever and also in the case of ms. universe, they have to impress the judge and its very hard to impress someone with a mistake.

Beautiful all of them. It´s a pity Miss Vzla dressed that swimsuit in our local contest. Can´t appreciate how awesome is her body. Also, she couldn´t walk the way Vzlans rep do cuz of that "fabric" which didin´t let her move her arms sexily. Hope at Miss Univ. she can show a 2 pieces swimsuit and arms free to walk.

mejor hubieras pueso toooooodas las candidatas del Miss Universo 2010, has puesto cualquier cantidad de "bagres" disque "strong" cuando la mayoría q pusistes allí son feas, para muestra el minuto 0.37, min 1.04, min 1.10, min 1.17, min 1.47 están horribles por lo tanto no tienen nada de fuerza en el MUniverse, lo que sí reconozco es que este año hay muchas candidatas hermosas pero que nisiquiera colocastes aquí.

@musictvblog2009 hello! what I say in Spanish is that you´d better put all the 80 contestants in the MUniverse Pageant in this video because you are showing several ugly women as "strong" in MU2010. The most in this video are UGLY such as min.0.7, min1.04, min 1.10, min 1.17, min 1.47 all of them are terrible so they are not strong in MUniverse. I just say that there are a lot of beautiful women in this year MU but you haven´t place them in this video, so I get your "strongers" down,Greetings!

Haha u can't blame filipinos for the full support they give in their candidates in Miss Universe every year bec. Philippines have won Miss Universe title MORE THAN ONCE! unlike w/ other countries with STILL "ZERO" no. of MU titles since 1952 until now, & those countries are probably the ones not excited anymore coz they are HOPELESS. I think the only countries who always gets excited in Miss Universe pageant every year was those countries who already won titles so u can't blame them!
