  • Should've put the outro :(

  • erection

  • Even I who am an athiest cannot deny that there is a god, and his name is Jimmy Page.

  • it's a pity a masterpiece has got only these many views-i guess the title is misleading

  • If the song remains the same... keep the name.

  • i need to be free soo much, like drug, like this solo

  • brillant!!

  • I really love 1:48 - 1:54 and 2:23 - 2:25

  • 1:39 at 1:43 IS MAGIC, ONLY PAGE could do that.

  • best ... ever .... sure

  • The Best!! The Best of The Best ever!!! Awesome, incredible, spectacular, fucking awesome solo ... ever !!!!!

  • TSRTS? Whats that?

  • the song remains the same

  • @starvinmarvin72 any zep fan knows that its the concert film of led zeppelin, the songs remain the same

  • Today at the park band were playing "Escalator to Heaven".

    That was awesome!!

  • Page is about emotion...not technique.

  • "Escalator to Heaven" woohaha

  • yea its 4 fat people

  • I'd rather say it's for smart people.

But I had some other reason why I was laughing. You have no idea. It's a long story.....cheers!

  • the nobs is what they go by for bootlegs and i put that so wmg wont take it down

  • 0:30 awesome!! incredible double neck Jpage' guitar! THE BEST. Thanx.

  • es uno de los mejores que he escuchado en mi vida......solo tengo 16 no he escuhado muchos (XD?)...pero ahi vamos...esta excelente!..me gusta mucho ese tipo de canciones..me relaja!---

  • beautiful solo

  • !!!ZoSo!!!

  • Dude I'm old. I started collecting Zeppelin bootlegs in '81-'82. In jr. high. Before CD's. I have dozens on vinyl..

  • All of these Page haters who claim to be experts, are just aging 'musicians' whose only 'claim to fame' was runner-up in some battle-of-the-bands somewhere 20 years ago. Now they are just stuck teaching guitar in some basement music store, playing tired old riffs to starry-eyed 14 year olds. Nothing original, just old familiar Zep and Hendrix licks, over and over again. Maybe on occasion packing up the cheap amp and playing some themed gig at their old high-schools. I would be envious as well.

  • true, anyone who questions page's musical achievements just doesn't know music from shit. I will say though, that page was, at times, one bastard sloppy live player. Even today, with the benefit of hindsight and knowing how iconic the original stairway solo is, he insists on playing a crappy altered version, then losing himself in an endless minor scale improv. Nonetheless hes an absolute legend all the same, its just I worship the studio solo more than is healthy

  • Valid points.

  • i think page is better live than in the studio. he dosn't play sloppy he plays slopy sounding licks

  • @martinmerrywinkle I've been playin guitar for ten years, and I agree with you, it is just an improv with a minor scale played over and over... but WHAT an IMPRO, i mean, there are at most two or three guitarist in the world who may have his level of improv in LIVE. Improvisation at home is quite easy if you know enough about your instrument, but playing a solo like this in a concert... It is impossible for most of humans. In my opinion, this solo it is as good as the original.

  • @KBronZ i think this is better than the original.but my opinion...

  • sounds like half step higher

  • =O****

  • *Too beautiful of a solo to leave comment*

  • Just Listen how the Guitar & Drums are synchronized with each Other.

  • last time i saw this on tv i almost cried b/c i realized where music has gone, and theyre just that good

  • page fucken owned there

  • This is unbelievable. How does he play like that?

He is an amazing guitar god!

  • this is a mulch of 2 or 3 nights, tsrts was made mainly because of there just being cameras there, but this is a grat example of what 1973, try dallas 73 and see what you think, ive got it uploaded cause i didnt see it here

  • agree with all the adoring comments below.. one gripe however.

Why couldnt Plant strum a rythym guitar ? a Tambourine ? are u F'in kiddin me?

    Sorry looks soooo ghey....

That being said i LOVE these guys and respect their effort, achievements, and their legacy...

  • Haha i thought he pulled off the tambourine pretty well but good point. haha

  • Fucking gods!

    Jimmy Page is a beast!

  • FUCK YEAH!!! i had to go along with the trend. i've seen this atleast over 300 times and i still am amazed by this, it's like sex for my ears

  • FUCK YEAH!

  • FUCK YEAHHH!!!!!

  • zeppelins are fukin gods!!!!

  • By far the best version ever but I like hearing the others.

  • such a godly solo

  • ZoSo

  • can some one plz tell me what concert this is from or were to get the whole vidoe of the is song.

  • this is from the official 'The Song Remains The Same' DVD. You should be able to get it anywhere (recorded at Madison Suqare Gardens about 1972/73'ish). The whole vid is on Youtube of course. Zep - in all honesty - should have stopped playing this after this point. This solo nails every single version before or after, including the studio version. From that point on you can only attempt to achieve that level without ever getting there again. Awesome solo.

  • and you gab need to hear for badgeholders only from 77, i have it uploaded as well

  • cluch9 - I checked that out (I think I heard that one years ago on a bootleg tape) - have to say, I would still go with the Song Remains the Same version :)

  • tsrts wasnt live really, though..... alot was done through studio fx and stuff,

  • I know cluch9! there is a guy on the internet that analysed the film and showed how its all spliced together. Some songs seem to be an amalgam of two nights rather than just recorder on a particular night. There are 'jumps' too where a wrong note on guitar or vocals has been edited. I'm sure in Dazed & Confused Page's guitar changes colour in the space of a minute! yeah, not as 'live' as people may think

  • it kinda ruined it but its still amazing, even if it was more of a studio thing

  • And "Listen to this Eddie" from LA '77 as well.

  • for badgeholders only is 7.3 miles away better, but listen tto this eddie is epic

  • I have "Badgeholders" on vinyl and "Eddie" on CD. I prefer "Eddie", but it is just a matter of taste.

  • dood uve got the vinyl? a source after mikes? or just a reprint from the cd

  • Page was SMOKING F****ING HOT in this video <3 <3 Oh, and his guitar playing was brilliant too ;O)

  • I love you.

  • jimmy is the best.. ZOSO RULES!!!!!!

  • roger that

  • to part to speak with the guitar 1:40 is magic. he is shooting 3 shots, or fireworks seem, 3 mini-rockets

  • lol oh yeah

  • Godlike solo!! One of the best solos ever seen!

  • I think your right but who cares on a solo like this right

  • actually i own the dvd, and at that part you can here the notes. The sound in the video is different anyway

  • all i am going to say is that you can NEVER mess up on guitar buddy. :P

  • both solos are so good, i think he just felt like imrovising

  • The stairway to heaven solo on how the west was won is my personal favorite, its simply amazing....ofc this is pretty good too:)

  • This gaves me a boner on the inside

  • outstanding .............

  • dang! that was good, but then again what can you expect from Jimmy Page? Pure genius. when was this done? was it in the last tour they had?

  • this wasnt the last tour.. it was madison square garden in 1973.. they broke up in 1980. Lol this one was no way near the last tour.

  • look howyoung the look how is it their last tour

  • he fucken orgasming! Cause he's so amazing

  • im gonna get flamed for this but i think the studio version solo sounds better...

  • neither solo is better than the other.

both versions are just simply awesome.

    but that's just my opinion.

  • dude jimmy page tore it up =]

check out my cover for this solo!!!

  • only 68,646 views? wtf? this is Stairway To Heaven!!!

  • LOL - I've seen other clips of Jimmy's solo that had millions of views. This is just another clip on youtube! But I agree with you, there should be more views.

  • jimmy is beast!!!!!

  • me imagino que todos le pusieron 5 estrellas a este video...

  • "you're retarded. i dont need to say anything else "

I make your words.. my words! x^D

  • this particular stairway live solo is astounding. Not a sec boring or off a bit, its just absolute perfection! Pagey is the best!

  • best solo ever made, enuff said, i listen to this solo at least once a day, its just amazing..

  • you're retarded. i dont need to say anything else

  • SLASH? Dude, Slash WISHES he can be Jimmy Page. Comparing their guitar work, Jimmy is definately more genuine than Slash will ever be.

    And he copies his look.

    LONG LIVE JIMMY PAGE!

  • you got that right

  • the movie that went with the song remains the same was wierd but the songs were good

  • ye i have it on dvd its a bit retarded sept for the live bits

  • love bonham's drumming-amazing

  • The God

  • wow, all gotta say.

this solo is amazing, and to even think that it was improvised is unbelievable.

  • i get goosbumps, tear up, i love him so much, hes the best there is, just so good, straight form the heart, beautiful!

  • too bad i cant rate this higher than 5...

  • this solo reminds of being free

    in a different way

    its amazing

  • To be a rock and not to roll

  • He may have been good but he wasnt a patch on Page, just my opinion.

  • yeah this kids a fuckin' schmuck.

  • in my opinion, dimebag doesnt compare to page

and dimebag's dead so it doesnt matter

Led Zeppellin>whatever band darrell was in

  • dimebag issnt that the guitarrist in pantera? when did he die?

  • he was shot years ago on stage moron

  • hw was shot on stage not too long ago

  • The master

  • Straight from the heart ,, i love it it has so much feeling.

  • VulgarMongoose is fuckin crazy

  • clearly.

  • i'd say that this is where daniel johns from silverchair got his inspiration for his solo on one way mule & many other improv solos. Personally not my favourite version... i'd much rather prefer the studio solo as it just seems perfectly suited... the way it goes from one place to another & finishes perfectly at the end. We're forever in his debt. \m/

  • this is the best version of the Stairway solo, its soo perfect, it flows perfectly, you would have no idea that it was improvised.

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • have to learn this shit BEAUTIFULY BEASTFULL

  • beast!

  • PAge owns u all

  • the best. simply the best

  • JAAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA

  • RisingRocker, youre an idiot. Slash is good, but the whole solo, axl is saying yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, or something. This is 5x better

  • simply best guitarest ever!

  • just unbeliveable. absolutely unbeliveable

  • Corndogflog he has his opinion leave him alone! Jimmy Page is an amazing guitarist and i want his guitar so there we go... lol

  • 1.29 watch the hand

  • this solo is so long that it almost gets boring :) not saying it is a bad solo, just saying that it is really long. Jimmy rules.respect.

  • This solo is long??? what about free bird ?

  • lol dumbass

  • my uncle saw them at the madison square garden in 1973 he'll never forget

  • Lucky man =).

  • freebird is good, but stariway is so much nicer,.!

  • you're garbage and you're not good enough to leave comments on my youtube page

  • if you listen to freebird solo..its just a 1 or 2 second piece..repeated like 4 times, then he playes a small bit, re peates it 4 or 5 times, thats all it really is, but this, it just sounds so nice, wow, the best of the best, band, song guitarist, solo, everything.just listen =] am i right.?

  • you are sooo right about this solo, but i am not sure about free bird part.

  • dont get me wrong..freebird is good, it is, but the solo does alot of what im takling about, repeates a bit a few times, just over and over again, but its good, to me, this is the best solo

  • Hence, I always prefer to call the Free Bird 'solo' an instrumental, cos it really is complete repetition over and over and over again.

  • i know it aint as good but free bird is still in the top 20.

  • what about the end of FREE BIRD by LYNRYD SKYNRD??

  • not even close...

  • this solo, band, guitarist, shits on free bird =]

  • thisis offically the number 1 uitar solo of all time

at second was eruption by van halen

  • jimmy is a god.

  • Page is awesome, but look at fucking Bonham in this.

  • will never be topped. ever

  • wtf its jimmy page how do u not know that????

  • Richie blackmore???!!! Its Page for fucks sake.. oh god how the... suicide now!

  • ...are....you...serious....*slaps this guy in the face*

  • Well, you know this is improvisation so it is not so hhard but page can give you it in the highest level you nknow

  • A big fan of Led Zeppelin myself, however for those people out there writing that he improvised or well rather " made this all up on the place " don't you find it funny that the drummer follows his guitar solo kinda perfect all the way through ? like 1.33 where the drummer starts the same beat as Jimmy is doing.. Still i love him, but don't state wrong facts.

  • Drummer follows after 3 beats at that point, not instantly.

  • actually im pretty sure that John started even BEFORE page began his next move.

  • blasphemy. he's john bonham and we all know he had a telepathic connection with all the band members which contributed to his death by making his head explode. duh

  • his improvisation is great!!!

  • he is so amazing. every note flows into the next. it's awesome! :D

  • Definitely the most influential rock solo of all time...to those who say it sucks....screw u!

  • this man is straight hyphy!

  • fuck you this is a legend you will never ever see or be this is one of the best guitar players in the history. so next time take that to considiration and DONT put shitty comments like this

  • the movie explains itself. no one can remake this song, cuz jimmy page kicks ass

  • yes sirr.

  • god bless you man...your so dam right..this guy is a living legand..just listen!

  • That guitar is nice. is it Gibson EDS 1275?

  • yep

  • a doubleneck? sure y not?

  • I saw a compilation of performances back in the day by them on VH1 and this was one of them, which isn't sped up. Jimmy Page is a beast.

  • you're fucking garbage you piece of shit, cunt juice guzzling scummy dick hole. Go eat shit and die

  • i agree

  • lol, cudnt of put it better myself oh wait...i could. add the words a most horrible death after die
