@kanniej Don't look a gift horse (car) in the mouth. I have had my 2007 Aveo since fall 2006 and I like it. Drive carefully and safely and it's as good as any other car in it's class, if not better. I had a loaner Yaris and I didn't like it at all!

its called Daewoo Kalos, it was designed and built in korea. the only reason it has "GM" in its name is because GM bought Daewoo and not because GM had anything to do with the car itself. GM sells rebadged korean cars all over europe too. kind of like they sell opels here in the us as saturns

yeas thats true, GM took Daewoo's Kalos, got Giugaro's design studio to give it a new look, and all they did was pop a chevy emblem on the hood. It's no more of a GM car than a Geo Prism.

you want to know the real reason?, Daewoo died as a car maker after a conflict of interest and lack of agreement between the CEO and the management group. Daewoo still exist as a Heavy Industry (contruction machinery, cargo ships, steel processor, etc) and also as an electronic devices manufacturer. GM got the automotive part and fucked it up even more. No improvement in design, just few changes in engines, but the cars remained far from competitive models in quality and performance.

GMminivans9968 is right about the car's origin: it is a badge engineered Daewoo Kalos. But he is wrong about the way it performed. It's performance is poor when compared to  some of the other cars in its class. I mean, the way that the door busted apart from the foor and how the dummy's head snapped backwards over the B pillar doesn't encourage me to be driving one of those in a collision. Watch the crash test of the Honda Fit, and you will see that it is not exactly the safest car in its class.
