  • I love how that kid made a comment 2 years ago and people are still giving him shit for it.

  • That last little wrap around the string is a totally horrible idea, like Beanbluesfan. Use the Taylor method. Search it and go to the PDF on the Taylor website.

  • sooooooooo awsome vid!

  • i love the simplicity of this video. its so clear, you cant go wrong.

  • good job dawg! i just snapped another string.. >:(

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU..... FOR NOT TALKING!

    Great video,

  • just me or is he stringing the E string where the A goes?

  • @ryanh1967 yeah he corrects this at 0:58 though

  • perfect no bullshit straight to the point I like it

  • I like the Taylor method way better. By feeding the excess string through under the incoming part of the string to make it "secure" itself you're causing the string to cross over itself, creating a point at which it may kink and weaken and ultimately break. Not necessary, really.

  • I cant believe the amount of shit misinformation on youtube. Fail.

  • Fast and simple video. no fags talking about pointless stuff

  • this dude doesn't know how to string a guitar, leave some slack on the string, dont pull it all the way through and pre cut it...

  • why would your string break??? it will be at the same tension regardless howmuch is on the winder.

THANKS MATE. EXACTLY WHAT I WAS WANTING TO KNOW. GOOD JOB.

  • I hate stringing these kinda guitars! Its anoying...

  • Thank for the bad info.. I'll send you the bill for a wasted pack of strings. your supposed to leave some slack.

  • @millermedia2000 LMFAO, this is such the wrong way.

  • what if my guitar doesnt have those things in the beginning of the video?

  • If it doesn't have nylon strings it'll probably have those. What kind is it?

  • that is not how u string it i mean u can but theres a right way to do it

  • Thanks for stringing us along with you! Nice job.

  • Yeah - this video is good in theory but leaves out a HUGE detail-- leave SLACK in the string before you put it thru the tuning pegs. In fact, leave an extra inch & half or so before you put it thru the peg and twist up. If you don't do this, your strings are going to snap for sure when you go to tune them.

  • wait what? i did it exactly like in this vid, and my string didn't break?

  • Ha I love it. Simple and to the point! Also, no annoying music.

  • i did this and as i was tuning the string made weird noises and snapped. thanks alot.

  • you probly, just tightened it too much mate, remember to leave a bit of slack.

  • my pins wont come out :'(

    help?

    x

  • um when this happens just get some pliers, wrap them in a cloth so they dont scratch the pins and pull the bastards out.

  • i ended up using a fork :D

    wooo

    but ty neway

    x

  • plyers

    lol :D

  • yea pins are dickheads

  • plyers

  • thank you so much brother. this is the only good video i could find. amen. peace be with you. and also with you.

  • i don't have pins, can anyone post some vid how to change strings without pins please!!!

  • what do you have? if it's pinless, you might have a bridge where you just feed the string though.

  • not enough wraps!

  • This video is amazing. Why? It's simple, short, and to the point. No douche bags giving terrible directions...or stupid music montages. Much appreciation my friend, much.

  • It they aren't nylon, after getting close to tuned, grab the string around the sound hole and pull up a couple of inches to stretch the string...do it for around ten 15 seconds or so. A little give and take... You'll find the string stays in tune much sooner. If this also works with your nylon strings...then go for it.

  • wow i lost the peg, how can i replace it

  • u expect me to get the peg out by magic? cuz this thing isnt coming out -_-

  • first time i changed a guitar string it was hell the ball thing that holds in the string flew out and i tore apart my whole room looking for it 2 hours wasted:(

  • thank you!

  • hahahahahahahahaha - Kablammo

  • Rofl-copter.

It's your own fault, after you restring your guitar you gotta give the strings time to stretch. They won't sound perfect right off the bat.

Good job. You deserve an award.

  • @alastaircv haha pwned

  • @alastaircv hahahaa

  • @alastaircv hahahaa, brilliant

  • @alastaircv dude this happened to me too!!!!!!!!

  • @alastaircv Someone must have a shitty guitar then.

  • @alastaircv dude chill. it happens sometimes. and he certainly doesnt deserve to be hit by a bus just because you got cut trying to string a guitar

  • @alastaircv

maybe your string broke because you over tightened it you bafoon.

  • @alastaircv Dude, Karma's just a bitch

  • Everyone's a friggin expert huh? "My way is better, blah blah blah". Either way thanks.

  • You missed the part where you leave some slack in the string before you wind it but this is a good vid.

  • i had to re-string my entire guitar and i was soooooo lost and this video showed my how to string it. this video TOTALLY helped me a lot.... THANKS!!!!

  • You need more wind on the string... i have a video that explains this.

  • Has anybody seen my string winder!

  • did you check under the couch? thats where mine was :)

  • I have never done it like that... it's wrong

  • This is so wrong....

  • Yeah I do it differently.

  • dude i just had my friend break the 5th string on my acoustic and we could NOT figure out how to get a new string in the freaking bridge pin. she tried every way to get the string in through the bottom of the pin by way of the middle of the guitar. yeahhhh that didnt work out at all and i have the new scars from the other strings pressing on my arm to prove it. but this video SAVED MY LIFE. THANKKKK YOU.

  • Solved the problem I had with strings that pop out when being tightened because the bore has eroded after a lot of string-changes. I've made a little gizmo which works in conjunction with the brass sing at the end of the string. All I now do is feed the string a bit further into the guitar so that I can reach it through the soundhole; attach the gizmo and then carry on as normal. If a string breaks, I release the pin. The string-end and gizmo fall back inside thr guitar and can be retrieved.

  • FUCK YOU MY SRING BROKE

  • lol that happened to me the first time but i tried it again and it worked. thanks tenterprise!

  • What spring?

  • String*

  • You don't show how to solve a very common problem with guitars that have had several string changes ... the way that as a string is tightened, it can pop the pin from the bridge. With older guitars this is hard to overcome even if you really push the pin home firmly.

  • youtube search deals with this:

Acoustic Guitar String Change w/ Steve Brand

  • do u know how to fucking talk?

  • haha i make mine look so much better. lol

  • see thankyou everything i've looked at or read on the subject of guitar upkeep has been wierd and confusing this was simple and easy this helps alot

  • thank you for just keeping it simple.

  • NO FUSS--JUST THE SUBJECT AT HAND. Thank you.

  • Thank you so much. This is great. I just broke a string, hopefully i'll do it right :)

  • you sir are exactly what everyone needs to see when first starting to play. there was no talking or bullshit text to wade through. there was simply a video showing you how to string a guitar.

  • thats actually the incorrect and bullshit lazy way to string a guitar.

  • this sux i broke my string trying to do it ur way

  • not to be mean :)

i broke my 2nd string when i tried to tune this way...-_- *sighs* i miss my poor little e

  • wtf do u do with the excess string

  • trim it with wire cutters

  • you cut it off dickhead

  • HAHA xD

  • !!!

    thankyou soo much :]

    this helped alot.

  • excellent chris in Denmark

  • Picture's worth 1000 words! Perfect. Just what I was looking for

  • Good,short and clear video.5 stars

    Paul

  • I had to replay it about 50 times - that was because of me , not the video but I just did the E! All by myself! (Well, with much thanks to this video!) I appreciate that this kind of stuff is available and that you thought to help.

  • exactly what i was looking for! close-ups! not a lot of talking! and clear step by step instructions! thank you!

  • I lost one of the pegs for the 6th string, what should I do? D:

  • Buy a new one. They're only like 10 cents. :D

  • I did IT!

  • I liked your aproach of close-up on the bridge and the posts, how you tie the string off.

  • i just broke the metal ring thing at the end of a new high e string i am putting in!? don't know how it happened, just when i was tuning it, it wasn't even tight because it was the same tone as the b string. now i have to mission into town to get a new one!! lol

  • I dont have those white things

  • you have a classical guitar

  • well on my guitar it was hard to full out the white things too. So I had to use some plyers. It will be easier. Hope that helps.

  • the pegwinder comes with a tool to pull those white things out easily. using plyers will damage it.

  • i had to learn that the hard way. i broke the tip of the bridge pin and the rest of the pin got stuck in the bridge hole. but i pushed it out with a 9V battery :) and yes the guitar winder has this little groove where you place under the pin and pull it out :)

  • at the very beginning, how do you take out the white bit? mines too stiff to just pull out. somebody reply please!

  • Either - use some form of plier-like thing, but, if you're not comfortable about doing that, find a way to reach in to the sound hole and under to push the pins up from underneath, tho this can be hard if the strings are there, but is fine if you've got some of the pegs out.

  • Thanks for the advice dude!

  • Thanks dude - very helpful

  • I love your way of stringing. I tried it and it was easy and the guitar didn't go out of tune fast.

  • Thanks a bunch. That was helpful:)

  • woo tyty haha...so thats how you do it..(seriously) =)

  • even without talking, this video is actually better than all the videos ive seen

  • thank you SO much! I would love it if you did a string on the other side of neck too. Seriously, I'm that pathetic. Thanks!

  • This is alright although i recommend you dont take all six strings off at once. Do one string at a time. Removing all of them takes tons of pressure off the neck and then when you put the strings back on they might sit a little high. Do one at a time to be safe and keep the neck pressured.

  • Especially if you're changing gauges. You'll require a new setup and will break your high strings if you put them on first :S

  • ever heard of a peg winder lol. It is a lot easier and faster!

  • some people don't have it

  • I think peg winders are really a waste of money. It takes patience and if you wind it slower you'll get a tighter fit.

  • I agree. I bought one yesterday, tried it once, and never used it again

  • yeah then what

  • DANKA

  • I don't understand how the string holds up at the nut without a knot ... :(

  • thanks for this! it was really helpful :)

  • this weird theydont talk but its a good video

  • i don't understand why he pulls the string through the 5th hole in the nut and then replaces it.

  • oh wait never mind. it was probably just a mistake.

  • lol, he doesn't say anything, and only shows a minute and five seconds of it. he's no bullshit. I like it!

Too bad this didn't really help me ;(

  • phew... your a life saver

  • you put it on the wrong knob, or the wrong spot on the knut, whichever way you want to look at it

  • He did not. Pay more attention and watch the whole video... -_-

  • well that string he strung look like it went to the rong knob

  • hahahah his nut is flapping around

  • Which is perfectly normal.

  • you stick up for this guy alot

  • Not really. I just think it's important that people actually watch the video before they comment.

And I find obvious comments silly. It's perfectly normal for the nut to be flapping around.

  • good point.. well then im glad you do :]]

  • theres no need to do that under pass with the loose tag end before winding, thats only needed for smooth strings as they can slide free (smooth as in non coiled springs) the coiled strings are rough and hold there self in place. also i'd recommend more coils, 2 atleast for that particular string
