I've never driven a Mustang, but I did get to drive a Camaro SS, and these guys are completely right. You just want to speed any chance you get, and rev the engine at every pedestrian, it makes you smile.
@luxurykid666, you're right about the C63 AMG, unless the Mustang is a Boss 302 :) I know that you may still argue that the C63 is better simply because it's German vs American or that it has more sophisticated technology, whereas the Mustang still has the live rear axle. However, facts are facts, and as tests and trials have shown, the Boss 302 goes toe to toe with the M3 (I believe it bested the M3 by about 1 sec at the Willow). Therefore, it would easily beat a C63 (transitive relations) :)
@mardamek1 You're most definitely right, but unless you take C63 to Renntech or something, it isn't a true "fastest lap" track car. That's not what AMG is about in it's production level cars. The Boss and the M3 are fast and both may great sounding V8's, but between interior, looks, and that AWESOME exhaust note the C63 puts out, I would have it over the Mustang in a heart beat

@otters72 it's the zeta platform from holden but it's not the same car as the monaro. it has a new GM motor and the suspension has been modified as well with new breaks. they used the monaro as a platform and went from there, similar but still unique. plus gotta love that styling!

The Mustang is the better car. The Camaro is pretty cool too but I think it looks overdone and is a bit ugly. The best part about it is the engine, which even still is bogged down by all that weight. When I first checked out Mustangs I wasn't expecting much, but after driving my 07 GT for the first time I was sold. The stats on paper may not be as impressive as the Camaro, but in real life the 'stang can seriously haul ass and hang with much bigger engines, which I find impressive.

Im 6ft 1in and I fit in the back. Its a little cramped but the front seats have an inset thing on the back to give more leg room than what you can actually see. Besides, 4 seats lowers insurance costs and you can just tilt it down.
Its mainly for the insurance costs, but they still have their use.

I own a 2010 Mustang GT. My buddy owns the Camaro. For the first few months all he did was talk crap. Now, After he has done a cam job intake and exhaust. And all i have is a tune and the 3.7.3 gear package and he still cant beat me, 1/4 or road coarse. He is talking about trading his in for the 2011 5.0. My complainant with your vid though. You road tested a Automatic Mustang vs a Manual Camaro. How do you "drive" a car Automatic? Plus no 3.7.3 gears in a Auto? They make a difference!

I'll be honest, i wouldn't know exactly which car to choose. it would depend on why i'm going to get it. If i'm on vacation for 5 days, hell yea i'd pick the Camaro, be the big jerk on the road with it and gloat off to people. but if i'm going to drive around from FL to NY, i'd rather take the Mustang.
but if it came to everyday driving, and for buying, just for practicallity, i'd probably stick with the Evo or Ralliart XD

You guys want a car you can drive daily and still get a stupid smile on your face every time you get in it? Get the Camaro 2LT V6 with RS package. It actually handles better than the V8. Excellent fuel economy, great power and in the near future of 4 cylinder cars and high gas prices, this is the one you will keep for the long haul, not the V8. High powered V6's are the future of muscle cars and 304 HP from a V6 ain't bad.
Great review! I like the dueling perspectives and commentary. One suggestion would be to have the final verdict conversation sitting down at a diner or something similar. The standing can seem a little awkward. I hate to criticize though, I really like Everyday driver! Maybe a bigger budget would help...
There is a gas-saving feature on the manual transmission Camaro SS with the LS3 engine? I thought it was limited to the automatic trannies with the L99 400-hp engine.
@ricepaddy69 I think most of GM's 6-speed V8 cars have that first-to-fourth thing. It debuted on the 4th-gen Camaro in 1993 and the Corvette got it soon after. The GTO and G8 also have it

For me, it's the Challenger hands-down. Why? Because it hails from the Mopar family. And if that's not enough, it's a Challenger. That just ends it, as far as I'm concerned. The Camaro and Mustang have never been as cool, in my opinion, as the Challenger. Not in the '70s, and not today.
But honestly, if someone pushed me to get a muscle car that I'd drive every day and enjoy the most, there's only one option, and that's the OLD Challenger. Driving it would be a perpetual orgasm.

They didn't even know WHY GM put the 1st-to-4th skip shift in there!
The reason it makes you shift from 1 to 4, is so that the car is Exempt from the $1000 gas tax for city driving.
It's actually to SAVE consumers money!
And another way to say "fuck you!" to all the gas taxes that the government is trying to force on v8 cars and trucks.
Just look-up "skip-shift eliminator"
It's easy to bypass.
Nearly all GM cars with a 6 speed have it.

400 pounds heavier and even with that independent rear suspension, the Camaro handles worse than mustang and its live rear axle.
Either way, for the money they are both nice cars.

*CAMARO ROCKS......BUT.....It's real sad how GM sucks ass in more then 5 ways. 10 years later they still cant simply come up with decent interiors for the new Camaros, Challengers, and Mustangs as well as most of any american line up. Then they wonder why they are being buried as a company. The overall american car will litteraly fall apart at the 100,000 mile mark.

Im 6ft 1in and I fit in the back. Its a little cramped but the front seats have an inset thing on the back to give more leg room than what you can actually see. Besides, 4 seats lowers insurance costs and you can just tilt it down.
Its mainly for the insurance costs, but they still have their use.

That's not why you buy a car though. You buy it because of how if makes you feel and how much fun you can have in it. PLUS, turning heads is definitely a HUGE selling point.

I own a 2010 Mustang GT. My buddy owns the Camaro. For the first few months all he did was talk crap. Now, After he has done a cam job intake and exhaust. And all i have is a tune and the 3.7.3 gear package and he still cant beat me, 1/4 or road coarse. He is talking about trading his in for the 2011 5.0. My complainant with your vid though. You road tested a Automatic Mustang vs a Manual Camaro. How do you "drive" a car Automatic? Plus no 3.7.3 gears in a Auto? They make a difference!

I'll be honest, i wouldn't know exactly which car to choose. it would depend on why i'm going to get it. If i'm on vacation for 5 days, hell yea i'd pick the Camaro, be the big jerk on the road with it and gloat off to people. but if i'm going to drive around from FL to NY, i'd rather take the Mustang.
but if it came to everyday driving, and for buying, just for practicallity, i'd probably stick with the Evo or Ralliart XD
but in this challenge, i think the Mustang won by like .0056 points :/

When I got my 94 Z28 it did the same to me. Went from shy and keeping to myself to loud and crazy and overly confident. It's like cocaine, just as addictive, except the gas and insurance are cheaper than actual cocaine.
And that's what makes the gas worth every penny.

You guys want a car you can drive daily and still get a stupid smile on your face every time you get in it? Get the Camaro 2LT V6 with RS package. It actually handles better than the V8. Excellent fuel economy, great power and in the near future of 4 cylinder cars and high gas prices, this is the one you will keep for the long haul, not the V8. High powered V6's are the future of muscle cars and 304 HP from a V6 ain't bad.

Great review! I like the dueling perspectives and commentary. One suggestion would be to have the final verdict conversation sitting down at a diner or something similar. The standing can seem a little awkward. I hate to criticize though, I really like Everyday driver! Maybe a bigger budget would help...

@ricepaddy69 I think most of GM's 6-speed V8 cars have that first-to-fourth thing. It debuted on the 4th-gen Camaro in 1993 and the Corvette got it soon after. The GTO and G8 also have it
Oddly enough, the V6 version doesn't do that, which is ironic since that's what you'd be buying if you cared about gas mileage on a Camaro

For me, it's the Challenger hands-down. Why? Because it hails from the Mopar family. And if that's not enough, it's a Challenger. That just ends it, as far as I'm concerned. The Camaro and Mustang have never been as cool, in my opinion, as the Challenger. Not in the '70s, and not today.
But honestly, if someone pushed me to get a muscle car that I'd drive every day and enjoy the most, there's only one option, and that's the OLD Challenger. Driving it would be a perpetual orgasm.
