FYI, if not the work of researchers and PhDs in univs and labs, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs would not have made such a great success. Who would like to carry a car size memory device with them? How do you think advanced processors, high efficient hard drives, complex programming languages, OSs, softwares, 3D graphics would have come, if not the PhDs and researchers ??? Gates and Jobs are more of entrepreneurs.

Well these three names and the advancements in technology that they have created have changed the world which in turn proves your initial assertion false.

Gates wrote circles around other programmers, including those with PhDs and in the process created the systems that PhDs rely upon to do their research today.

Wozniak built the first Apple at age 21, with just a high school diploma.

I meant no disrespect to Gates/Jobs. All I mean was they could nt have succeeded that much without help 4m other researchers & PhDs who preceded them. Do you think that apple wud have created such gadgets like ipad, i phones with out researchers all over the world doing what they do? Do you think you Gates would have built PCs with i5, i7, dual core processors without any help from researchers? If you think so, dont send your children to school & see if they discover anything new.

Point of reference: Gates and by extension Microsoft deal with software not hardware. They have never claimed to build computers just the programs that make them work.

School is not required for discover. I know many highly schooled individuals who could not identify something new if they were slapped in the face with it. School teaches how to learn within the rules, it is up to the individual to decide to step outside the rules and make discoveries.
