Hi there. im dreaming of this car since years, so I have to get one over the "Used Car Market" from england, because they are unaffordable in austria!
Is it right, that every 1.8L 141kW (192PS) version got a toyota engine, build year from 2004 on? Only toyota engined elises are suitable for this supercharger kit, aren't they? How do I know if a Toyota engine is installed?
@caseman86 You can check out the specifics of the kit on VisionFunction's website, but I believe it works on any Elise 2005 or newer. All of the US Elise's are Toyota engines, but I don't know if that's true for others (there may be differences in either the engine or the ECU).
As far as whether to get a stock SC or aftermarket - the ECU mod that CharlieX made for this is awesome, so my experience has been that it's just as 'civilized' as a stock vehicle. I would do aftermarket.
i installed one from these guys..and other than a missed placed bracket(i missed placed it) this thing was a two day deal.would have been one but body has to come off..this kit really wakes up the lotus..entirely too much fun
@agnostos1000 Not really, and I think it's substancially easier now than when I did it (I was one of the first, so the instructions were a work in progress). This was the first time I did anything like this, so as long as you follow the instructions and take your time it should be easy. They guys at Vision/Function were great also, always available and helped me whenever I had any quesitons.. Would do it in a heatbeat again.
@sdkfz3000 No, there are some people who turbo the Elise - I think the first FI kits was turbo, but they seemed to be a bit more of a pain (on the ECU side), and the power curve is far less linear which wasn't as desirable for me.
I guess the rear clam hinge paid off a lot in time terms, since if you had to take off/on the rear clam you'd had to another another 3-4hours on your workload!:)
man do i have to poop. nice supercharger though!

Look for Honda powered (k20/k24) Elise...not even supercharged imagine the power after being (Turbo/Supercharged) boosted.

Would be very grateful for any help!

in such a tight engine compartment adding upgrades sucs a turbo might be not possible huh?

@sdkfz3000 It is always posible, try adding twin turbos to a GTO, Vette or an M5 with a V10, it is all posible

@sdkfz3000 many people change the layout and get rid of the boot space to make room
