hi only just seen this i bought a hahns macaw off a couple who were giving casey wine on friday 13th last year she was screaming in bottom of cage i was at work i rushed home and she was very quite she went into the same fit and came round so i took her down stairs to go to vets and she did it again but this time did not come back it was the worst experience ever and i have had parrots my whole life i went to rspca to see if i could have the people that killed her but nothing only had 2 weeks
This budgie is having a seizure, it needed to be kept in a shoe box (no lid) with food, water and a towel to rest. You should have moved its head straight so it doesn't block it's airway. Hold it's wings folded close to its body. And KEEP IT AWAY FROM OTHER BIRDS AND SUNLIGHT!
my bird lost her feather in her stomach can someone tell me what to do?watch the video is my budgie sick? and tell me please thnx?also how much will the vet look at her for?i live in brooklyen someone also tell me where the closest vet is
Why didn't you take it to the vet after this to put it to sleep? I know that decision is hard, but your bird was suffering. I have also often waited too long, because I hoped the bird would make it and we have no right to kill a life, but meanwhile I think it es sometimes better for the animal, not to suffer anymore. I'm not blaming you as I know how hard this decision is, I'm just wondering. I'm sorry for you and your budgie. I have cried a lot for birds dying like this...
@CarinaMovitz It suffers yes, but I think it'd prefer to pass away in the security of its cage rather then in some place it's never been in, scared stiff.
@CarinaMovitz It all happened in a week; the start of her wierd behavior, he loss in energy and eventually her death. Besides, she was the first bird in our house to have a sickness.. So we hadn't really had the time to consider that.. :x But thanks for the info :)
Well.. I've been a bird/parakeet owner for 8yrs... i was even 8yrsold too.. so yeah I've gone through a lot crying from some passing's... it's just so hard for me..
@suzyjonas Me too - I have experienced a lot of passings and they loked excactly the same as this bird while dying, so I thought that would be the death. I think I would have taken the bird to the vet after this to have it released...I have cried so much for birds dying like this and the last very sick bird I had, I let sleep away at the vet, because I didn't want it to suffer like this...
Oh... so that was what my parakeet's act was.. ): a few years ago, my parakeet did the same thing.. but we wouldnt get him to a vet.. sadly hes gone now .
it is demoralizing. and very frustrating as a owner. so many things are geared for dogs and cats, but very little for budgies. I still suspect mine had a tumor with the sight loss, and who knows, biru may have too. I don't want to tell you the hundreds of dollars I spent trying to get an answer from a vet about my twiddle dum. It really left a bitter taste in my mouth.
this is very interesting. I had a male budgie do the same identical thing, have spontaneous seizures, and the local vet had no idea what was going on. We suspected a brain tumor as he lost sight completely before he died and would run around the bottom of the cage. It's not easy I know, but at least this video gives me some insight that others have had this issue and what it might actually have been. Thank you. I have 8 very healthy birds these days.
@snarfdude Ya, before Biru went berserk(as in the video) she's easily frightened & would run away from any human contact & would stay at a corner. it got worse until this (in the video). It's very demoralizing and yes very hard to let go of a close companion :(
No problem, i was act. finding on the net for any such familiar actions to predict this illness but i found none so i thought of posting this up to help anyone else :)
N My bro juz bought another budgie as friend for my white budgie :)
@Sapphiregirlzx omg! exactly this was the problem with my budgie who died like a week ago, i am still very upset about it. he was always scared of people and would run and scream whenever people came close to him and was a really quite bird. and at one point he got very very weak, i could pick him up easily and he had these same weird movements as shown in this video. like a few hours later he died :/
