  • I first heard this cover about six years ago, and it remains one of my very favorite songs. Just thinking about it makes me cry, and some day I hope to walk down the aisle of a church to an arrangement featuring these harmonies. Bravi.

  • nice song. :) but could have been better if the SHE'S are turned to HE'S since this is the female version, right? i do hope i could hear that kind of version.

  • @dannettenaizel I'm actually looking for that kind as well.. ^_^

  • So yeah. Now I'm crying. Lovely.

  • gosh...i haven´t .......i forgot when was the last time i listen to this song.. wonderfull cover.

  • nice touch on the cello.

  • Call me blasphemous but...while I love Depeche Mode, this version is way better than there's. I've come to think of this as one of a very small handful of songs I want to share with that special person I want to adore and pester for good, someday.

  • @TheJiggsCasey i also love dm and agree with you.

  • Thank you! Been looking for ages for this song! ;)

  • This is an outstanding version. It's really rare to listen to something so beautiful.

  • damn, i love this version. thanks

  • I understand that there is some humor in this, b/c there's a few lyrics that don't quite match the rest of the song. But overall, this song really makes me feel really emotional. There's a lot of things she wants that I truly understand :(...

  • nice cover, I'm glad i listened to this!

  • who helps me see things in a different light..............I want somebody who cares 4 me passionatly.......................I dont want to be tied by anyone's strings.............LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG.-Marlene for Michelle rest in peace .

  • Good cover. There is a bit of a satirical angle to it, though, I think. Nice! Made me laugh.

  • It is everything somebody would need to have a happy, fulfilling life with somebody else.

I think this is what everyone wants.

  • Pięknie!Amazing cover-Pozdrowienia from Poland:)

  • Gah, the Depeche Mode original is so much better. She cannot capture the same depth and emotion that Martin Gore can. It just doesn't compare.

  • this version completely re-invents the song... amazing... so beautifull....

  • this song defines my relationship with my lover =] <3 and it makes him cry, lol :b

  • i luv this song. it makes me cry. lol

  • kann man machen - geht - cool

  • what album is this from.??? Its nice I like these girls

  • Depeche Mode Tribute Album , "For The Masses", 1998.

It features a wide array of bands including The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, Rammstein, and Meat Beat Manifesto.

The Foo Fighters and Marilyn Manson wanted to do tracks but schedule complications prevented them. Manson, who wanted to cover "Personal Jesus," eventually did so for in 2004.

    Respectfully,

    DM fan

  • love this song. :)

  • Sorry guys, if you don't know the original this one will sound nice. If you know the original (sung, written, composed by Martin Gore) this one will really not excite you. Only soft and smooth like many others, no strength, can't convince me....

  • God the more I listen to VS again the more I KNOW that today's music has gotten it all WRONG. The 90's weren't depressing, they were questioning. Sure there was alot of angst but what teenagers - young adults don't have alot of angst? I did and that's why I related to this music. I could never relate to all those leather clad biker wanna be's from the 80s.

  • just a point: this is a cover of the '80's version recorded by Depeche Mode ...

  • ...who never were "leather clad biker wannabes", and I Still think that VS covered it even better than the original, it really works better with a smokey, female voice! just my opinion...

  • it does sound good but depeche modes version has more emotion to it and is still the best.

  • Damn straight!

It seems today music actually doesn't have enough anger (especially with everything out there to be angry about), and definitely not enough questioning.

But just a few recent bands that are worth checkin out:

    1. Godspeed You! Black Emperor

    2. A Silver Mt. Zion

    3. Neutral Milk Hotel (I think they broke up though)

    4. The Faint

That's all I can think of at the moment...

at least NIN is still around...

  • Go thou and listen to the last two Killing Joke-albums from 2003 and 2006. If that's not enough anger for you, then I don't know, Dude... (c;

  • that´s one of the greatest songs i´ve ever heard.

i cried like a liitle girl as i heard and read the lyrics at the same time :-)

  • @kotkrieger means you didn't understand the lyrics... ;-)

  • That instrument is a Fender Rhodes.

  • you're UNREAL! Apparently! ;D Thumbs up!!

  • can anybody tell me the tone or actual keyboard instrument used in this song? that would be UNREAL. it defines what i believe a good sound is

  • @jesseisalameo I played the Fender Rhodes on this recording. Hadn't listened to it in...Jeez...nearly 13 years. I'm proud of our version.

  • from "For the Masses, an Album of Depeche Mode Songs", a tribute to Depeche Mode

  • does anyone know the story behind this song? Nearly all of the Veruca Salt songs have a story and or meaning behind them....

  • It's a Depeche Mode cover.

  • mi canción!

    la meva cançó!

    my song!

    meine lied!

    ma chanson!

  • Cool.
