I just changed my settings on the LG 42LD450 with a Logitech Harmony 300 universal remote control.

Download the file for 42LD450 from Logitech's site, and there is a function EZ-ADJUST ready to be configured to a button on the Logitech remote control.

With LG remote control:

Type in pwd "0413"

Go to menu "Tool option 3"

Go to DivX and change the setting "0" to "1"

DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE!

Exit, and now you can watch video :-)

@CBeRaki yes it should work with 37ld450 - you need a universal remote controller, then program it to work with your tv (Should be in the manual of that universal remote)

for example on my Shaw Cable remote after i sync it with TV i press TV + Setup + 00018 and the password screen on my LG comes up - grab original LG remote and press 0000 (pass might differ) and thats it

using Thomson ROC4238 once controlling tv press "set up" and then"_/_ _ "button and password screen appears. I have done for both 550 and 450 models password for 550 was 0000 and 450 was 0413. Then option 3 and change from 0 to 1 and then exit. Use original tv remote to input password and to move when in service screen. Hope this helps! Worked for me now I'm just going to sell the remote on e-bay, I only got it this morning lol.

this worked for me too using the Thomson remote I purchased on the net. The password for me was 0000 . I'm in Ireland but after that the instructions in video worked perfectly. Txs to others too for recommending the remote type :)

@logofatul98 Eu am reusit cu un telefon Nokia N73 pe care am instalat aplicatia irRemote de la Psiloc. Am ales din lista irRemote TV, apoi LG, apoi in lista de la LG am ales "service menu" pe care am instalat-o. Am avut 2 buroane active 1 si 2, cu oricare din ele poti accesa service menu. Parola este 0413. Atentie!, functioneaza de la 30-50 cm de televizor.

I have just purchased an LG 37LD420 and i am trying to hack the usb feature by using a universal remote by philips ( srp2008b/86). It seems that i cannot find how to add that special control option.. or it does not have one.. i cannot find any infos on that. Please, can you tell me exactly some remote control model that have this option? I do not want to get stuck with several remote controls until i find the right one :) . Thank you.

Thanks a lot qvacken, it worked too with with my LG 42LD420 with universal remote THOMSON ROC 4238 (after programming the controller to TV I only had to press "Setup" and then press -/-- button to get passwrod screen, then rest was according to the video.

It took me a while to find out I have nothing to do with code 00018.

@sayersy2010 you need to program your universal remote to communicate with the TV (i'm using a Shaw Cable universal remote)

after i have the TV and shaw remote talking i would press setup + 00018 then a password screen pops up and i would then grab my LG tv remote and enter 0000 and then it would show the service menu area

Thanks, managed to get this to work with a Medion Universal 8 in 1 Remote (MD81035) widely available in Europe.

1. I manualy searched for code until tv switched itself off.

2. Switch tv back on and then press the "EPG" button, u will be prompted for a 4 digit password.

3. Simply follow qvacken's instructions from there on.

2. Find the LG controll code and add it to the remote

3. Test the universal remote,i.e. on and off button

3. Add a special controll option: code = 00018 for in my case menu button

4. Access the service login by pressing the new controll button
