Do you have a particular reason for playing the first tone in Timba with your left hand. It seems awkward. Is it to facilitate improvisation and ghosting?

im a beginner, i play at my church and i was wondering if you had any tips on improvising on a song depending the style of the music... thanks god bless
you don't have to be a trained musician to start buddy! you just need some drums to practise on. the basics are all here on youtube, just look around, plus there are plenty of books available. best way though is to find a good teacher in your neighbourhood. enjoy!
for my question i meant "one drum" not "one drup". is everyone seeing/hearing it on one drum as bass slap slap muff bass muff open open? i'm new to conga and sometimes i'm not 100% on the exact tones I hear/see in vids. thx!
The lessons are great! Man, I wish u could have posted these 25 years ago when I first started messing around with percussion. I'd probably be five times better than I am now, and I ain't that good. Thanks man.
Thank you for your demonstrations. I like to try it on my djembe. It makes a lot of fun for me. I am a beginner but I think your lessons are simple and good explained so that everybody can work with it. I have just bought a nice set of bongos and hope I can learn most of your rhythms soon. You are really doing a great job. Greetings from Germany
I think your technique of teaching is very simple to understand and follow, my only problem is i'm left -handed so if on your next video you could set the camera directly in front of tou you'll be helping a lot of left-handed players. i'm not a beginner, however you make it very simple. great job and keep the lessons coming. you're doing a great thing for a lot of people and we apreciate it. thanks.
Those are some of the sickest drums ive ever seen/heard. Who made those?

@VicV1122 - there are many down beat patterns that you can play. I play in a church band too and I too don't always try to play latin in Gospel.
