  • I think the name Ganondorf was used in the backstory section in the manual his full name was Ganondorf Dragmire I believe and his fellow thieves called him Mandrag Ganon I wish I could back up my point but I lost the manual and I can't remember much of it aside from his name

  • I never thought of using the Staff or Cape to avoid Ganon's fireballs.

Missed reference at 10:05 Ganon: "En Garde!" Link: "Thanks for the warning."

  • Actually, the girl you rescue in the water temple(#16) calls him Ganondorf. I hadn't even noticed it until I watched NCS's walkthrough of it.

  • If you dash into the tree seen at 6:30, a faerie will emerge from the tree. You can keep exiting the screen and returning to catch faeries until you've filled as many of your bottles as you want.

  • Thanks HCBailly, I have been playing this game since I was 7 (23 now), and I learned quite a few things I never knew. I had never used the magic cape or cane of byrna. Did you know that if you never upgrade your master sword, you have to use a spin attack to even harm Ganon? he just shrugs off a regular hit.

  • Some of that delicious Princess booty? Oh My God! I LOVE your videos so much HC! Doesn't matter what kind of day I'm having or what's going on ... your videos can always make me smile and laugh!

  • HCbaily thoughs flaming "birds" are fire keese, bat like creature that existed since the original legend of zelda

  • Are you gonna get up here or not? lmao

  • I don't remember a Ganon fight in Link's Awakening, didn't you mistaked it for Oracle games final battle? As for the Ganondorf name i think he is called that only in his human form (or whatever he is) but i can be wrong. As for the Link to the Past, it's a great game and i enjoyed this LP

  • Yes, I meant the gold-coloured turrets that only fire horizontally or vertically.

As for Ganon being really good at fixing up the place, the boss fight completely resets even if you've already killed him.

  • Looking for magic? You should put a note in the video of the Fat Fairy yelling from the Cave "Giving away free magic to all those who want to kill pigs!"

  • I never thought about using the cane of byrne for this fight,it would have been so much easier,I always brought back up fairies expected to die at least once, those flaming bats always catch me off guard

  • From what I've heard, Ganon is the name of his monster form and Ganondorf is the name of his human form from my understanding.

  • That's what I do with fairies as well. Because if I screw up or don't hit the button in time...I like having backup.

And that's normally the only trouble I have with him; hitting isn't a problem, living isn't either, but falling down is my issue.

  • sooooiiiiiieeeeeee! pig, pig, pig!

  • I really like how they added him in Link's Awekening because the final boss fight in that game was Link's nightmares and that was perfect fitting IMO

  • HCBailly, he is actually called Ganondorf during the game. One of the maidens calls him Ganondorf during one of their speeches after you beat a dungeon.

  • Ganon is able to be defeated without the Silver Arrows, it just takes almost twice as many hits from the Golden Blade. The Silver Arrows basically just kills him faster for you.

  • @Faldomar And when he freezes, you hit him with spin slashes.

  • .....I'm pretty sure you can use the flute in the dark world, it takes you to 9 spots instead of the 8 in the light world.

    or is that GBA only?

  • @superanimeniac In the GBA version there is 9 spots in the Light World, the 9th one being at the Turtle Rock's location

  • Such a classic battle, probably the best Link vs Ganon battle in the series.

  • @Waterwish545 Definitely a classic battle, but I would say that Ocarina of Time's (or heck, Wind Waker's) Link vs. Ganon battles top this one.

Definitely better than Twilight Princess's anticlimactic final showdown, though.

  • Fun Fact: Fall out of the room after defeating Ganon and you have to do it all over again.

  • @jtn2002 Yeah, I was curious about what would happen and ticked off when I saw I had to fight him again.

  • I was gonna explain the difference between Ganon and Ganondorf, but I'd just be beating a dead horse.

Which is fun, don't get me wrong, but it hardly has a point to it.

  • How does the flute suddenly work in the dark world? Invisible plot wa-!... No, not plot walls. Invisible plot... doors? I dunno what you would call it, but yeah. Doesn't make sense. Of course, trying to make sense of video game logic doesn't make sense itself. :P

  • If only Link had the silver arrows in OOT.

  • @Luigi84289 Silver/Light/Holy all the same thing, just different censorship.

  • @bubba200874426 They're not the same thing look at the arrows in LTTP and LOZ. I have the japanese versions of each game they are in fact silver arrows in those two games separate and distinct from the light variety seen in later games. There are no elemental arrows in the early zeldas.

  • New Seiken Densetsu 3 on Jan first to start the new year? I think so.

  • Delicious princess booty anyday!

  • i literately fought ganon like 30 time till i beat him

  • For magic, you could have just thrown that empty bottle in the Fat fairies fountain for Green medicine.

  • HC, one of those trees at the bottom of the pyramid gives a fairy.

  • Gotta get that delicious princess booty, Link.

  • im the 302th viewer :)

  • I bet he's going for the delicious booty :)

  • @HCBailly i posted this in an earlier video but you can get green potion from faeries by throwing in an empty bottle

  • So...

You finish off werewolves with silver bullets (greetings from Eruca she wants her chimney trophy back >:D) , and...

finish off werepigs with silver ARROWS? Makes sense to me ;)

  • Actually, I believe one of the maidens says that it was Ganondorf that got his hands on the golden power and then became Ganon. If it wasn't a maiden that said it, then it was somebody else, but regardless, it gets said. I think this's the first time that the name Ganondorf gets mentioned, in fact.

  • I don't know why you keep going "HA!" either....but please, don't stop! <3

  • HC, since you had an empty bottle why didn't you just get a green potion from the great fairy in the pyramid?

  • Can't wait for FFXII. That is all.

  • the way you say "booty" is so funny i die laughing every time XD

  • I love fighting Ganon in this game. I hope you do a bonus episode of you fighting him in the green tunic and the orginal master sword.

  • @GiroXSigma yeah you can I used to do that before I watch HC crazy I played this game for so many years not knowing about the ether magic revealing the floor.

  • you must be thenked to nintendocaprisun ofr the more views :P and some subs u gain the last vids u win me as a sub as well via nintendocaprisun a famous comentator if u are ever gonna make a coop lets play do it with him cuse he sure like your videos

  • you know when i defeated ganon one time i was curious as what would happen if i fell down the pit to where ganon destroyed the floor and guess what somehow ganon comes back to life and acts like nothing happened. Kinda funny to see but weird to see that happen.

  • WOW You Made Canon Look So Easy...You Know What I've Realized In Every Zelda You Can Make The Last Boss So Easy By Simply Doing Everything.By The By I Wonder How Many Slashes It Would've Took To Beat Canon If You Never Upgraded Your Sword?

  • In Four Swords Adventures, Ganon steals the Trident of Power, from the Pyramid of Power, I think.

... I think Four Swords Adventures and its story are pretty obscure compared to the rest of the Zelda franchise.

  • @MisterTellius A couple of weeks ago I would've agreed with you but the official timeline places ALttP and FSA in different splits so while he could've done that before this game we don't know for certain, for all we know it could be a different trident altogether.

  • It's like a silver bullet!

    Except you die.......

  • I love the HA! It's so perfect for this game.

  • @NintendoCapriSun Indeed :P

  • @NintendoCapriSun It's so perfect for HCBailly

  • @NintendoCapriSun lol that is very right NCS.O_O

  • @NintendoCapriSun I think it's coming from one of other Zelda games that he played, in which Link talks every time it's pressed a button.

  • @NintendoCapriSun I think I've been playing too much FF12.

  • @HCBailly There's no such thing.

  • @HCBailly No...you've been playing too much FF12 when you're not happy until you beaten every hunt and have at least one of every item.

  • @HCBailly i didnt k now NCS watched you HC!

  • @Reanchi All LPers watch other LPers. It's just that most don't leave comments behind like NCS does.

  • @HCBailly Or speaking as Link would! Hyaaa!

  • @HCBailly are you going to lp that soon or do you have another lp in mind?

  • @NintendoCapriSun NCS! when nuther episode eof SSBB and is Chugga, Jon ur bro's?

  • i always thought that the opening to the temple that he breaks there looks like a chicken.

  • holy smokes done in 25-26 episodes?! This game took me forever as a kid... I guess i wasn't very bright :(

  • I just tried the Ganon fight on a minimalist run.

    It's HARD.

  • The 'Dark Beast' is Ganon

    Human State is Ganondorf

Both the same being, but one side was shown much later than the other.

  • You know...throughout this playthrough there are many points where I'm simply asking myself "Why does he charge up his sword here...why not just swing it? Yeah it does more damage but you spent so long trying to hit with the slow, powerful attack you could have hit 2-3 regular attacks and done even more damage..." Great LP, however.

  • Could have sworn I saw someone beat Ganon with just the sword once, by stunning him repeatedly and then using the spin-slash (he died after being stunned maybe 4 or 5 times).

  • Nooooooo Such a great game over already. D:

  • ho ho ho

  • HCBailly, did you know that if you dash into the left tree in front of the pyramid it will always contain a fairy.

  • If you like floors that vanish under your feet play Ys for the original Sega.

  • this is one of the best games on the snes and if i remember right you can crush the skulls on the ground with the hammer

  • He was called Ganondorf in the first Zelda game, too. He's also referred to Ganondorf in THIS game too, I think one of the Maidens say that...

  • gannon and gannondorf are 2 different creatures right?

  • @brigbjones ganondorf is human form and ganon is monster form as far as i know

  • @brigbjones They are the same person. Gannondorf is used for the more humanesk form while Gannon is used for the Pigish beast form (there are some mistakes though here and there). As for the reason of the pig form... I think different games give different explanations for his transformation.

  • I believe his full name, Ganondorf Dragmire, is mentioned once in this game.

  • I really love this let's play! Its great!

  • @11:04 Link'll probably wish for Majora's Mask 3DS.

  • Trigonometry.

  • That is the most nefariously devilish cliffhanger you've ever sent at us. HCB for Holy Cliffhanger, Batman!

  • So far, no clips from CDI Link or the cartoon. XD

  • Isn't he refered to as Ganondorf at one point in this game?

  • Naw. Link will just wish for another sequel. :)

  • yeah, you may not have been standing dead center on the triforce, but you were standing closest to link's piece which is courage, i believe.

  • You should do an Oblivion/ Skyrim Walkthrough!

  • @ooggabooga54 HCB isn't the biggest fan of western rpg's... and I have a feeling an LP of such a game would be absolutely brutal for his OCD as far as completion goes. Either he would have to leave stuff undone, or it would take absolutely FOREVER to show everything in an LP. I wouldn't get any hopes up regarding a Bethesda LP from HCB.

  • I've always hated that worm boss.

  • I wish you would do some Fire Emblem LP's like Fire Emblem: Burning Blade and Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones

  • @L3WCore Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War forever!!!

  • I think they explain his trident in Four Swords Adventures.

  • @JohnDCrafton He isn't called Ganondorf until Ocarina of Time where when he has a human forme it is not a possessed body. Ganon is the Pig-like transformation. The name Ganondorf didn't come into play until OoT. This boss is actually (atleast a little) difficult...so long as you don't use the Cane of Byrna. But it's fun to massacre Ganon with it sometimes.

  • @GanondorfKingofEvil Actually one of the maidens you rescue says something along the lines of "Ganondorf...no...Ganon, the king of evil! You must stop him link!"

  • @314Marvin Yup, A Link to the Past was the first game that introduced "Ganondorf" as the name for Ganon's original human form, both in the manual and the in-game dialogue from one of the Maidens. Ganon doesn't make an actual in-game appearance as Ganondorf in A Link to the Past because, when the events of ALttP take place, he has been trapped in his monster form in the Dark World for centuries thanks to the Link and the Sages from Ocarina of Time (and didn't bother picking up a Moon Pearl ;-)).

  • @elnurgling In a strange twist, Nintendo recently announced that this game takes place in a future caused by...

...OOT Link failing in his quest to stop Ganon!

  • @LinkMarioSamusAnd then there's Skyward Sword's Zelda having a plush Tingle doll in her bedroom without there being any traces of any Tingle ever having lived on Skyloft. This franchise is full of strange twists and big gaping time warp plotholes isn't it? :-p

  • If I'm not mistaken, Ganon and Ganondorf are completely separate characters. Then again, not being a hardcore Zelda nerd, I could be completely wrong on that.

  • @JeffroTheMan1 I am STILL confused with this concept, even after reading the recently confirmed Zelda Timeline that has been released on sites such as IGN.com. Ganon is a demon that has been reincarnated several times in the timeline, because of Ganondorf's (Human/Gerudo tribe character) actions with the triforce... I believe. I could also be wrong.

  • HCBailly, this has got to be the fastest you've ever completed a side LP. If it's finished tomorrow, it might as well just have been a second Main LP. Not that there's anything wrong with that... I'm curious, though. Did you do it so fast because you're looking forward to the next SD3 LP with your brother or because of the fun and ease of creating this LP?

  • hey hcbaily, are you uploading two episodes today? I admit the music is not my favorite in the series, but the ending theme is just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo beautiful, you should upload it today

  • It's funny at this point of the game. If you defeat Ganon, then fall into the pits, he somehow magically respawns and you must do the fight all over again.

  • I didn't know you could hit Ganon before the battle even started.

  • Ganon had the golden power, but then...nah, too obvious.

  • Couldn't you have thrown your empty bottle into the fairy fountain from LP #21, used it, and refilled it again for Magic Medicine?

  • Really enjoyed this let's play!

  • They do call him Ganondorf in this game, at least a couple of times.

  • i hate the fact the pit takes you out of the boss fight, it's a real anti-climax when you fall and have to walk ALL the around

  • Is the title a reference to Mystic Quest?

  • Wow this lp went by so fast

  • @toaker

no shit, wow. sad too this has been one of my favorites. ocarina of time, HC?

  • Hey HCBaily, what is your opinion on the official Zelda timeline, saying this game comes after a third split in the timeline, where Link is ill-equiped to defeat Ganon in Ocarina of Time, and dies, so after a long war, the sages seal Ganon away.

  • @goldeyeblue really, that is what the third timeline comes from, that makes no sense if link dies the bloodline of the hero dies right?

  • @TheLazyDragoon You ever watch DBZ, were Cell Kills Trunks in one timeline, and after Gohan kills Cell, Trunks goes back to his future and kills Cell where he was \to die. The idea is that Link needs to go back to the past to beat certain dungeons (the well and the spirit temple child half come to mind). So since he is going in time and changing the past, then going back to the future, he creates a split changing the adult timeline. the third split is adult pre-spirit temple.

  • The thing about Ganon is simple. Ganondorf is his name as a human, while Ganon is the name of his pig form.

Also, how Ganon gets his trident is explained in Four Swords Adventures.

  • This has got to be my fav Legend of Zelda game... Ocarina of Time being a close second...

  • Hey HCBailly I don't know if you know this but you can hit Ganon twice with the silver arrows each time you stun him. You gotta be really fast though.

  • 00:31 hahahahahahaha

  • hcbailly rules!

  • It's not the face-statues that fire whenever you swing your sword; it's the smaller ones.

  • I think he has the Trident in the first Zelda game, but he doesn't use it...

  • (2:24) No, the shots from those statues don't depend on your sword swings. It was those yellow four-way turrets from earlier that only fire if your sword is out.

(3:44) I think you took a quarter-heart of damage from that hit, which isn't enough to show on your life meter in this game.

(4:31) I sometimes have that issue, too. The cape doesn't always want to activate right when you want it too. I wonder what the deal is with that?

(8:26) If you dash into the tree right there, a fairy appears.

  • Link: Should I wish for Zelda's booty?

    >YES!!!

Link: Do I really need to use the Triforce in this manner?

    > YES DAMN YOU YES...It time for Zelda to pay up!

Link made the ultimate wish and wished for Zelda's booty and a night of wild hot sex. Nine months later Zelda gave birth to Link son who he totally denied. Later on the Maury Show they got a DNA test and Link WAS the father. Now poor and broken Links days of adventures has come to an end.

    No Happy Ending.

    End.

  • classic

  • I believe he was Ganondorf Dragmire before he transformed.

  • Actually one of the maidens in this game said that the King of Thief Ganondorf became Ganon, The King of Evil. So yes, the name Ganondorf was esteblished in this game.

  • One of the 7 maiden name-dropped Ganondorf. He's still called Ganon, but obviously, Nintendo was planning ahead.

  • Excellent battle, HCB!

    FOR BOSS TIME!!!

  • In Four Swords adventure they explain how Ganon got the Trident of Power.

  • @dfr343 Really? I totally forgot that game, I still have it but I don't like playing it on the gamecube.

  • I remember kicking some Ganon butt as well back in the day. Thanks for the memories!

  • What happens if you fall off the floor after killing Ganon?

  • @GruppeSechs2004:

I think you have to start the fight with him over again, like usual.

  • The Cane of Byrna is so very nearly useless. Magic Cape is where it is at, and it's mainly because the cane's damage property only works on weak regular enemies.

  • In ALttP the name Gannondorf is mentioned as being a thief who stole the golden power and was transformed into Ganon. OoT simply expands on that more.

  • I knew it. I KNEW IT. I knew you where gonna stall out for one more part x-x. I had this feeling throughout the entire episode that you were taking your time!

  • when you said "i can't take on tre by my self!" i stoped the video right clicked on link and selected "Copy Link"

    =D

  • @ViewtifulZX Mine says "Copy Video URL"

  • @CastlePokemetroid it was a joke don't ruin it

  • Gannon is now just refereed to as the pig like form of him

  • What? Next time? Another video? Noooooooo! (Wait, why am I not happy?)

I remember ganon being quite a bit harder... I guess because I don't tend to use the cane against him.

  • Link wishes for no more fighting so no more maverick appear and X won't be such a crybaby about fighting.

  • If you light the left torch before the one on the right extinguishes too, then the right torch will remain lit for the rest of the battle, meaning you would only need to lite the left one.

  • HCBailly, what kind of controller do you use?

  • @sephiroth1204 he uses the snes controller -_- he does almost all of his lp's legitimately with the original console.

  • @Duorsa Actually, most if not all of his pre-FFXIII let's plays were on emulators. IIRC, he bought his capture card specifically for FFXIII.

  • @ultrazeldafan you may be right, but he had a capture caard before FFXIII. He said he added an HDTV, I think a new hd capture card, and some other things for an hd setup for FFXIII. I'm pretty sure this LP was on the actual snes cartridge because you can hear the controller clicking and him saying the y button doesn't work at times (he said that recently trying to use the magic cape). This is likely from the aging of his snes controller. I'm pretty sure he has this snes cartridge.

  • @Duorsa Indeed he is playing on a Snes controller, but he had one for pretty much all of his Snes let's plays. If I'm remembering right, he has an adapter for the PC to connect a Snes controller. Whether this let's play is on the original system or not, I'm not sure, but I know that HC has the means to play these games on an emulator with a Snes controller that may indeed be wearing our.

  • ganon is the pig form, ganondorf is the gerudo human form

  • probley peace or his grandpa back

  • Isn't it explained in Four Swords Adventures how he got the trident?

  • This is also the first time IU've seen you not beat the final boss in the finale

  • @frostare Didn't I do that in Lufia 2, as well?

  • @HCBailly There was information about the Trident's origins in Four Sword Adventure, the plot was altered before released but the original text is still in the game code and many fans consider the removed text to be canon, as it was probably altered under Shigeru Miyamoto's orders, a man who cares more about gameplay than story.

  • @HCBailly Well... the key words here were the misspelt "I've seen you." If I remember right I did not wanted to get the final boss of Lufia 2 spoiled so soon.

  • "When did he get a trident, anyway?"

The backstory to Ganon(dorf's) trident was elaborated on in Four Swords Adventures, I believe.

  • @zacjhutch Indeed it was, he got it on a pyramid of some sort

  • i was hoping he would fall off at the end of the video just for laughs.

  • Oh not a Nostalgia critic reference! Nice tip about getting the first strike with Ganon.

  • RUN AWAY!!! Run away!

  • Actually, you can beat ganon without silver arrows. See here:

    /watch?v=dZvGJCcjsJU

  • @scaryice82

Interesting, but one thing I noticed in that other video is that Ganon never freezes. Which seems kind of odd. Because he freezes in other videos I've seen including this one.

I get the feeling they might have designed it to be possible to beat Ganon without the arrows in case someone managed to find a way to never realize they actually exist.

  • Are you going to do that Four Sword dungeon after the maingame? or do you have the GBA version?

  • @Goldenblade14 he's playing the SNES version

  • VaginaBoob

  • @elsavit0 family guy reference, haven't seen that one before (sarcasm)

  • Ganon = beast form

    ganondorf = human form

He was beast is this game i believe
