is that the key of amon that is like in the egyptian history?? i am not a fan of lost and ireally dunno what's going on in the video but i just wanna know what this statue mean??
For the longest time i always thought the ship was richards ship, for the longest time i thought he had somethin to do with it..but its not his boat....how long where these two playing their game ?
I used to love LOST. In fact, I loved it until season 6. It was an amazing TV show which in my opinion the directors took advantage and tried to make it into a master piece but they fucked up. It was great until season 2, it was ok until the end of season 5, but they made something like this into something out of a myth book. It turned out shit. I'm really disappointed.
What's so ironic about this video is that MIB takes the form of John Locke. John Locke was also a philosopher of the Enlightenment, who believed that humans were naturally unstable and should be ruled. MIB's quote: "They come, they fight, they destroy. It always ends the same." says it all. It's funny that he took the form of Locke in season 6
Yeah, but it doesn't seem likely. Jacob promotes free will in every scene. Giving Hugo and Ben the option to do something, while the man in black manipulates. Plus, if the good guy killed the bad guy, then there's no real reason for the show to keep going. Seems kinda pointless
i love how omniscient and omnibenevolent Jacob is in this scene... he fries TWO portions of fish, clearly indicating that he already knew that the bad guy was coming (the devil, if you will) and he says "nice talking to you too" with sincerity after the guy tells asks him if he knew how badly he wanted to kill him, which of course the omniscient Jacob knew
I believe the man in black is in fact smokey just possibly taking the form of someone who had already died on the island during that time period.
We've already seen that smokey can take the form of the dead (alex, yemi, christian etc). The only unexplained appearance on the island was Walt and the writers made it ambigious since season 2 focused a bit on Walt having a power of being able to appear in places he shouldn't.
But then again, the fake locke might be real locke.
...As Faraday said Humans got freewill; they are unpredictable. Therefore, the other guy needs to convince a mortal to kill Jacob for him (I suppose the other guy is immortal like Jacob).
Jacob can only be harmed by a mortal not by the other guy.
just to put this out there.... in the bible it mentions pillar and stones and jacob and another whose name i cant remember can do no harm to one another while in the territory of these pillars. Mabey thats why Mr loophole needed one in the first place
John could be the man in blacks equal to Richard. Only John is loyal to man in black where as richard is loyal to jacob.
OR vice versa. Richards body could have died the same as Johns only to be reincarnated mysteriously in a way yet to be revealed. Dont shoot me just a novice opinion.
In the bible Jacob's brother is Esau, his mother is Rebekah and in a funny sort of tangled way you can manifest Esau as the guy from this clip who wants to kill Jacob and Rebekah (in an odd way) could be the island or even a higher power.
Lost has many biblical links but this one makes alot of sense.
Lost is not only using things from bible but from many other sections such as science mythology or ancient history because Jacob in that scene is weaving sth that it says sth in greek that it is including in Odyssey..An epic of Homer.
Esau's father, Isaac, compels Esau to swear not to attack or kill Jacob after Isaac has died. However, after the death of Isaac, the sons of Esau convince their father to lead them, and hired mercenaries, against Jacob in order to kill Jacob and his family and seize their wealth, (especially the portion of Isaac's wealth that Isaac had left to Jacob upon his death).
Esau, naturally, is furious and vows to kill Jacob. Once again Rebekah intervenes to save her youngest son Jacob from being murdered by her eldest son, Esau.
Is there a Rebekah figure in LOST... it could be the chick that had dead Locke in the box. Jacob did ask for her help
This was quite interesting; Rebekah, mother of Jacob and Esau, then instructs Jacob in an elaborate deception through which Jacob pretends to be Esau, in order to steal from Esau Isaac's blessing and birthright -- which in theory Esau had agreed to give to Jacob. As a result, Jacob becomes the spiritual leader of the family (the others?) after Isaac's death and the heir of the promises of Abraham (the island?)....
Yes, the second guy is probably the black smoke because in the end of Season 5 [SPOILER!], Ben ends up following John's order to kill Jacob, but only because his daughter had told him before, and we all know that she was already dead, so the island made him see her as if she was there, hallucination, and we know that's possible here from the first few seasons. It was part of his plan, just to be sure that Ben would follow his order. Ben was the loophole to killing Jacob.
oh so maybe the smoke in alex's form made ben listen to everything locke says because locke WAS the smoke... that makes sense, kinda getting ben to follow his orders that way
I'm guessing that Jacob and Man #2 are brothers. Also, I think that one of them is the Bad Twin referred to in Gary Troup's book. And finally, I think that, because Man #2 can shape-shift (like he did with Locke), I think that he is the Smoke Monster in human form.
These ARE just theories, but I thought I'd mention them anyway.
but also i tink this is not the first tym jacob has tried 2 bring pple 2 the island,,, with jack.. the guy says 2 him u brought them here wen tlkin bout the boat out at sea,, obvo jacob is tryin 2 do sumtin but always fails
he says they come they fight they distroy it always ends the same,,, jacob then says it only has 2 happen once... and now i believe with jack and co this is guna b the tym,,, i believe jacob has set up a team 2 either fight 4 him or mayb sumtin else,, thats why he visited all the pple kate, sawyer cus he noes they all hav sumtin that can help him
it wouldnt make much sense if it was sobek, because he protected people from being attacked by crocodiles... no crocodiles in this show... but with tawaret, whos the god of fertility, it makes sense because once the statue is destroyed, no more children can be born on the island, they all die... i think the fact that nathan was born on the island means the statue is still up at the time the losties are in in season 5
Two things I got from watching this scene again: 1) Did you notice how the camera focused on the fire for a second? That's where "Locke" would kick his body to burn. 2) I'm not so sure if Jacob is the good guy or not. He had an almost mischievous look on his face during that whole conversation. He seems to be the one manipulating people to come to the island to fulfill his purposes. I dunno...
im not so sure that jacob is bad, because the other guy says "they come, fight, they destroy, they corrupt", and jacob says "your wrong", so he was trying to show the other guy that people can be good by bringing richard's boat there
not sure if he is Esau but its goin in that direction, the man we see here (black smoke as peeps are calling him) could be just another body he is manipulating?
esau was jacobs brother in the bible, although they kind of reflect the same people I am pretrty sure he wont be called esau, and I also think he is the black smoke, well after dead is dead i was pretty sure the new locke was the smoke monster so hes probably this guy to
best opening episode scene. i was crying with excitement when i was watching this. they ended this season with the best episode yet.season 6 should be amazing.
I have to agree with Sleeping Ancient, from what we've seen these things have the ability to become whomever they choose. That's perhaps why he never allowed Ben to come close to him, because Ben would probably allow himself to be the instrument of the black stranger, which unavoidably he did.
Ok somewhere on the net it's pointed out that black and white is mentioned over and over again. Esp with Lock who come up to walt while playing I think Othello and Lock picks up a black and white pieces.
A blogger on the Huffington Post mentions the story of Jacob and Esau from the bible. While these two are in human form, I do not believe that they are human at all. That the human bodies were just taken when two humans landed on the island. Jacob still has his,
this is a theory which lots of people agrees. their shirts are white and black and consider what black smoke said ben with his daughter's image. Later on the show we understand that john is actually dead. and remember the sentence "do you know how badly i want to kill you?"...

I have a theory - That guy wont kill Jacob so because John Conner sent him back in time to stop the terminators.
After the Terminators are killed off...........the world changes and evolves into a South Parkish environment.
Everyone has a jovial time with their placid happy lives.

I have to agree with Sleeping Ancient, from what we've seen these things have the ability to become whomever they choose. So it's very likely that the bodies they inhabited in 1845 belonged to humans that died, the black stranger had to manipulate events to get Jacob to choose the instrument of his very own destruction. That's perhaps why he never allowed Ben to come close to him, because Ben would probably allow himself to be the instrument of the black stranger, which unavoidably he did.
