  • I saw this show on broadway and although of course miss parker wasn't as hilarious as carol Burnett I did like the show a lot, it was very very funny...maybe if I actually lived in NYC and was extremely blasé about every show I watched I would rant too but happily I still have wonder and amazement for the great invalid...still about twice as good and exciting as any other theatre district

  • THIS IS THE EXACT VOICE AND MUSIC FROM THE MOVIE!!!!

  • Too fast but good I'm doing this though!

  • I don't get why some people think this is bad? I mean, I don't think it's amazing but I still think she did a pretty good job on this number. I literally am asking a question lol what about it is bad? just curious!

  • Singing this song for an audition, ah! I'm so excited, cross your fingers everyone.:)

  • @racheltwilight13 awesome! i am too! good luck!

  • i have to sing this in my chest voice and i suck. i actually choked (im a soprano) and help?

  • @matutorials Me too yo! I have an audition and it sucks big time!

  • @matutorials I know it sounds stupid, but taking the time to breathe right is the most important. You have to support yourself a lot more when your singing higher (or lower) notes. I know I had trouble with this song, and it helps of you don't think of the notes a significantly high or lower than the other notes. do you know what I mean? Like, don't try and reach of them, because it shows in your body and in your sound. Just sing THROUGH the notes, instead of to them.

  • @matutorials Also, don't think about the harder notes for you when you're performing, because it will only psych you out more. Just get into the song, and when that part comes up it will naturally (with a little practice) come to you. I hope that helped you a little!

  • Awesome!! I like her as Winnifred. I've never gotten to see a video of her in this part before. I love it! I played Winnifred myself not too long ago. Please feel free to check out my channel to see a video of me singing this song! =)

  • i've always wanted to be Fred!!!!

  • this is painful.

  • I played the Minstrel!!!!!!

  • i got dauntless!!! :D

  • i'm doing this song for my class and im NOT shy at all!!!:)

  • I am playing the wizard in this play, for my school

  • So good! Hoorrrrably shy! :)

  • I wish her dress wasn't so LONG

  • I played lady larken :)

  • I really like this version of the musical. Can someone please send me the soundtrack to this version of Once Upon A Mattress? I have no money to buy it! :))

  • @nicki3236 Still joking, right?

  • i love this song

  • OMG she's worse than on Sex in The City! Even tracy ullman couldn't fill Carols shoes! I remember being embarassed watching this mess!

  • She looks like a horse.

  • she can't hold a candle to Carol Burnett.

  • That's amazing how they got a horse to sing in a musical.

  • My school is doing this musical and I LOOOOOVE IT.

  • my school just had the first performance of 4 today for this musical and I just love it so much! <3

  • my school did this 4 yrs ago. I had so much fun! it is a cute musical. :)

  • @nicki3236

    Please be joking.

  • i hope I did as well as she did when I played this role... I really had fun, though. Fred is absolutely awesome!!!!!! Next to play... Elphaba in WICKED!

  • cool my school is doing this play

  • she's magnificent

  • she is so lovely...sarah is a joy to watch

  • Fun but what an ugly slag.

  • Go Jessica! She just needs to be funnier but she sounds great!

  • shes awesome ... she was good at annie to!!!!

  • I realy like both version A LOT, but I do like Carol Burnett more because Sarah has more of a docile personality.

  • I'm playing Fred at my middle school. This is one of my fav musicals, you have no idea how excited I am for this to be my first role in a play!Im just worried I wont do the songs justice.

  • @NYCprincess7 It's an easy show to do. It was my first as well and i was the Minstrel.

It's pretty intimidating. But practice makes perfect! And have fun! This is a really goofy show. :) And Fred is a terribly fun character.

  • @BrandonHarami Just yesterday I got cast as Fred. I can't wait for rehersals! It's my first lead I've gotten and I can't wait to play her because she's so crazy :D!

  • I have the utmost respect for Sarah Jessica Parker, and she is a very good singer, but... this just lacks the hilarity that made the Carol Burnett version so much fun to watch.

Okay, I admit it, I adore Carol Burnett, but that doesn't change the fact that her version is better.

  • she needs to belt out the stress words as Carol did. She ´s good, but my heart belongs to Carol!

(I toured with the off broadway production, the 1972 version, for 18 months)

  • Love this more than Carol Burnett.

  • what happened to hey nonny nonny is it you?

  • Please...I know a seventeen year old who's better then her

  • This is talent.

  • Typically musical comedy songs aren't really "singer songs", so to speak. They're usually written for the actor that's not so much a singer. A lot of musical theatre songs have a lot of speaking on a note in them.

  • this is soooo goood :) im working on this song myslef

  • She was trained a dancer and musical artist since very young. She sang in musicals as a child.

  • Well, she isn't really a singer, is she?

  • @novemberheat that is true but she is a decent one. She did a great job on characterization. She is so funny in the song

  • hey to all you haters out there that say she looks like a horse, you can suck it. :D

  • We're doing this show next year. I'm really excited!

  • Hahahahah she's so cute!

  • lol this is funny but jessica parker did well!

  • she reminds me of a cartoon character at the beginning.

  • .,this musical is good...

  • Sarah Jessica Parker changed my life she is brillent actress shes fun and cute! She's my favorite person in the whole world! :D She has such lovely hair in this video! :), 1996? She is pretty we'll know then? Ed Wood, Honeymoon in Vegas L.A. Story Hocus Pocus Striking Distance Miami Rhapsody The First Wives Club Mars Attacks! Extreme Measures The Substance of Fire"... She was pretty well knowen. But yeah so many negative comments. SHe;s beautiful! I love her hair! Omg i already said that!

  • @fashionistabrooke it's a wig, not really her hair

  • Wow she did great in this

  • my sister did this for her spring muial...and i might b biased but i think my sis did it better...at least she sung it stronger and moved around the stage more......but as i sai di might b biased...AND my sisterwould be he bet actress on broadway.....lol but im really truly serious!

  • WOW! Some of you need to check your facts before making such hateful and negative comments! Ms. Parker was trained in singing , acting and ballet starting as a child! She was in "The Innocents" and "The Sound of Music" on Broadway before her lead role in "Annie" also on Broadway. She was "Annie" for over a year! She starred in many movies, t.v. shows and plays (both on Broadway and off) long before the fame of "Sex and The City" and Carrie Bradshaw.

  • Oh yeah she's totally shy

  • you are forgetting somthing, when she played in this musical, she wasn't really that famous, because nobody knew her from sex and the city, so maybe she was cast in the play, because she has fun on stage...

  • She puts in the mood of the song while Carol Burnett contains the character, but overall, I love this song as long as Winnefred is played by an alto belt.

  • so, besides her name...what qualifies her to do this musical...?pretty much pisses me off when people steal these parts from talented "nobodys"

  • @nitamike She's not one of my favourites either; buy you cannot deny the fact that musical theatre is where she got her start.

  • She and her husband put the "broad" into Broadway. A pair of no-talent hacks, coasting on their popularity alone.

  • shes a good singer but i think shes kinda shrill n ugly

  • I wouldn't mind the pedestrian singing so much if her comic timing and stage presence were great, but it's just not there for me; that's really what makes the role of Winnifred. But I suppose we all have to give Sarah Jessica Parker a break especially since she's being compared with the great Carol Burnett.

  • i thinks he sounds nice especially for not being a singer

  • A DISGRACE! Carol was better!!!!!!!!

  • Ok Deli, you also like Silver Spoons so I'm gonna let you slide on that comment. Carol and SJP were both brilliant.

  • This is a pale comparison to Carol Burnett--I've seen community theatre/high school productions with better winnifreds!

  • Definately Agreed!

  • nah she did movies before this :)

  • i saw her in this when I was in elementary school i think it was the first broadway play i saw it was the best experience of my life and i loved this play.

  • I really liked her in this part. She's got a pretty clear belt and although she's digging for them a bit has the bottom notes which are LOW. I feel like this would have been so much better if the conductor would have FOLLOWED HER! He was SO rushing her through so much of it, especially the beginning of each phrase. She did great though, and great personality for the character.

  • No, she was in Broadway as a child.

  • I think she was in Annie

  • she was in annie...she played annie

  • she stops singing to much, it wasn't that good, i loved the movie they made in 2005 of once upon a matress :P

  • Even Princess Winnifred deserves a good night's sleep :) Check out Sears starting November 7 for some amazing deals on SERTA mattresses....and sleep like a princess!

  • this sucked.

  • My God! Ms.Parker's performance of this tune..is lousey! Forget It Ms.Parker..You're not Ms.Carol Burnett or even Ms.Tracy Ullman.

  • naaa she was doing movies way before this lol

  • 1:50 - really great sound.

  • i was a lady of the cour and a wench for this play it was pretty fun, even as a small part.

  • heheh shs so tiny. i love her

  • She is just awesome

  • i was the jester. this show was so fun but we split most of the the parts and one of the girls who played the princess i hated because she was so fake and strained her voice to sound go

  • i was the jester too!...except it was a high school play....big difference haha

  • Why Ms Parker! You can sing!

  • im the king in our production.

  • 1:31

HAHAHAHAH! I love her voice there!

  • haha I love it. I have always loved this song, especially her rendition.

  • i want the princess for my theater show of once apon a mattress. im singing this song for an audition. i hope i get it!!

    p.s. shes so good!!

  • MWAHAHAAH IM THE QUEEN IN OUR PRODUCTION any way i was beat out as fred buy a girl who cant sing or act just cuz im the directors daughter my mom didnt want it to look like she fixed the part but i know i could do it 20 times better

  • I was in this last summer. it was a lot of fun!

  • Im Shy too! i am living a lie i put it on :D

  • HAHA!!!!!!! god i luv SArahjessiCA

  • I don't like the way she sings it... she cuts the notes too short

  • I think this song went way too fast.

  • Sara Jessica Parker is sooooo in this play!!!!!!!

  • i"M SHYYYY tooo hahhahahahaaha!

  • I love it! XD

  • Adorable!

  • my best friend sang this in a choir concert, and...i liked her version better :) but what can i say, i'm biased. this is still good too, i just didn't know she sang. (sarah)

  • Pretty good! I kinda miss the parts the missed though.

  • What happned to the hey nonny nonny part?

  • the BEST part!
