The title of Total football begins fails so much. Ajax where playing total football since 1969 and this exact version since 1971, hence the three European cups and league titles. It was even managed by Michels in their first European up win. Popel need to go read some books and watch more matches before they creat false titles. Good video though. Sadly I am too young to remember this great team, I was born in 1968, however I can just remember the team of 78. They were probably the greatest team never to have won the world cup. I would say that they were perhaps better than most teams that have actually won it. It is easy to see where Barcelona get it from. I only wish England could play like that. Holland are my favorite national team after England. I prefer watching Total Football to watching Brazil flicking it here and there.
England may have not been in the 1974 World Cup but when I asked my dad what was the most entertaining and best team you have ever seen in your entire life he said "Holland 1974 World Cup, without a doubt. Johan Cruyff is an inspiration to world football even to this very day."

NL 74-78, WGermany 68-74, Brasil 58-62, those were great teams because they maintained a high level of football for several seasons and tournaments.. You can add Milan 88-92 and Barcelona 2008-present, post-war Hungary, Real Madrid 56-62, France 98-2006, Ajax 70-73, Spain 2008-present.

Yea, yea. But, the Germans knew how to neutralize the "Total Football", and they did it in the 1974 Final. By 1978 even the Argentinians knew how to even up with the Dutch. The out-side trap was easy to counterattack, but the Uruguayans were too slow, they were living in the 1950s. Today, the Holland off-side trap would be suicidal.

La trampa del fuera de lugar que ejecutaban da risa, bastaría colocar al delantero mas rápido detrás de la líne de media cancha, amagar el pase largo y lanzarlo cuando los holandeses ya se abalanzan, el delantero rápido arranca entonces y queda solo frente al portero. Los Uruguayos hubieran podido hacerlo en 1974 pero no estudiaron al rival, fueron al Mundial sin preparación.

Por eso este equipo es grande. Cruijff brought it to barca in the 70's before he came, barca didn't even knew what it was, Cruijff was the one who made their youth as it is right now, players like Guardiola, Iniesta, Xavi etc are the players they are right now, because of Cruijff's vision of football, Guardiola made it modern, and made it slightly different, but the basics are the same.

Yea, this is the beginning of total football, of amazing football that we can see now in Barca. Even than you can see how nervous are the opposite players and they hit the Dutch players like nowdays players that plays against Barcelona, for example Real Madrid players.
