This song is very prog-rock. the intro and main riff are in 5/4, then it switches to 6/8; the synth leads are totally fitting for a water-themed level. I think this is my favourite Gradius III track.
Surrounded by deep blue. The ocean is all but peaceful. Ships, turrets, and bubbles of various sizes all spell doom in this mission. A hidden passage with joyful or dreadful possibilities. A liquid entity waits. Watching. Shoot it in the eye!
Actually, I've played that and I do agree the Arcade game boss for stage 2 is harder than the SNES, but once I have all 4 options and some shields, it all comes down to my current weapon.
Any type of Double or regular bullets = SNES boss is harder
C.Laser/Twin Laser/E.Laser = Arcade boss is harder
Ripple = SNES boss is harder (I can't land good hits in SNES once I dig half way into him, the ripples touch his roof or floor as they expand and cancel, or at least it seems that way)

OMG the boss on this stage is like impossible for me on Arcade difficulty when I don't have C.Laser or Twin Lasers ._.
Once I dig about half-way into him He uses his bubble shots from the mouth to block my shots and 1 of 2 thing shappen:
1) I stay too far away while he blocks my shots and eventually end up squished at the back of the screen
or
2) I get close enough to do damage through his shots and screw up 1 time and end up too close to where his shot bypass mine and hit me
UGH XD

@Kurayamiblack
Personally I never use Ripple at all due to it's ineffectiveness against bosses...

One of my favorite Gradius stages, always had the Ripple Laser and massive slowdown on this stage.
