  • lol, i am watching this a bit late, but cool vid, and i came across it while goin throught the podcast a go go's and u said the one word that sums up why i i really enjoy Chikara and that type of stuff and it is Eyecatching, thats the perfect word for what they r doing and their show.

  • you mother freaking peanut head, dammit why dont you put your settings on.

    nevermind you wont get it.

  • haha

  • MBWrestlers last video. If I was to respond to that, would you tell me to stop responding to haters or will you tell him to stop responding to haters? Yeah, Ring of Honor is Gimmickless.

  • Good video. But I think gimmicks have been going down the drain ever since 2006.

  • i do agree gimmicks maybe a lost form in wrestling. i also believe roh will manage this well, it may take time though. kenny king/nigel are good examples of what gimmicks can do, to take them seriously. but for some (danielson) may not need much of a gimmick where ppl can see that resemblence. good vid

  • Funny Lv cause as i can remember the only thing changed in nigels character was making him heel. hmm not realyy a big gimmick change. Ya gimmicks in ROH are lacking but not really in TNA and WWE.

  • that was all nigel needed....was a HEEL gimmick. i never said people need a HUGE gimmick change to be serious. where did you get this from? sigh....

  • Ya im talking about a big character gimmick like black machismo or undertaker not just going heel.Yes he didnt need that. Still ROH is lacking gimicks but not really TNA or WWE

  • You're right but people do talk plenty about gimmicks but in the opposition. Such as in TNA, when they started giving lots of people gimmicks such as Sonjay, Jay Lethal, Eric Young, Daniels, AJ etc. people were complaining that they dont need gimmicks. Maybe the IWC really never is satisfied haha

  • but a lot of them really DID need gimmicks to become over (lethal, young, and even Daniels as the fallen angel is definitely a gimmick and enhanced his character)

  • I didnt mean Fallen Angel, though that def is a character but they complained when he was Curry Man and even Suicide.

  • Gimmicks are what got me into wrestling when i was a kid but now im sick of them. Shit back when i started wrestling i didnt even know what a heel or face was damn the internet lol.

  • Gimmicks are too hard to manage as well as being too hard to sucessfully pull off. especially if the premise for a gimmick is too retarded to even give a chance, LIKE KIZARNY. lol But its not a dying art to say the least. First Off the gimmick must be realistically unrealistic if you catch my drift, then you must be able to provide enough of a backstory to generate interest while keeping the kayfabe going. The most important thing out of it is they gotta be able to work a crowd. (cont)

  • (cont) A Gimmick must be able to give the crowd a reason to care, a reason to even pretend to believe in what the guy is trying to sell to the crowd around him. Without proper building of it. it won't won't.

  • 2 things killed Gimmicks: 1. Stone Cold Steve Austin killed Gimmicks, 2. and when Vince Mcmahon kind of opened the curtain to the :secrets" of wrestling i.e. shows like Tough Enough like you mentioned.

  • good video. Totally agree on the gimmicks, I think they give a wrestler more personality if used right. Plus they would help newer fans sort of learn to like their favorite wrestlers easier.

  • good video. I am not the biggest fans of "gimiks" I think personas and attitudes of the wrestlers. For example scott hall in wcw it itself was a gimik of sorts but based on attitude and mind set. That is how I like my gimiks to be. Everyone should have an established persona. Now time to watch champions league weekly.

  • For one thing, the fans are way more smarter than ever now, Gimmicks are no longer in the art... form of.. fooling the smart marks, even some 9 year old kid...may can see what is fictional, something thats not actuality,so that is why wrestling companys are faceing idea challenges every day upon creation towards gimmicks.

  • Good vid man!

  • This makes me think of when the Undertaker adopted the biker persona but eventually returned to the "dead man" persona because it is more compelling. I agree with this video.

  • I am praying for the bad ass taker to return. The phenom is stupid now i think. It is just ridiculous.
