The correct formula is that PCO2 = 1.5 (measured HCO3 ) + 8 +/- 2 for bicab of 20 which is near low normal the expected Pco2 is somewhere between 36 and 40
now it has been changed to more accurate correlation PCO2 deficit (from 40 )= 1.2 * Bicarb deficit from 24......... do some examples and it will be clear brilliant man keep it up ....
the other important point for juniors to know is that ( IT NEVER OVER COMPENSATE ) i.e. the PH keep related to primary shift...
