bosneageorge, lalo wrote "ad libitum" into the score. this means that you can play the music as rythmic as you want to.

besides...it's a solo, and a concerto, so it's musically correct to kind of "make it your own". otherwise it's going to sound too mechanical and just bad.

It was written by Edouard Lalo, who was writing at the same time as Dvorak and Elgar =)
