how does this differ to an RDL?

Speed. "Up fast!" "Drop down like a plyometric". "Snap your hips" RDLs are more 'controlled'.

Because this is a CORRECT RDL. You shouldn't TRYING to lift anything slow.

with a RDL the legs are straight. This is just a short ROM fast deadlift
