  • Horrible tone

  • Hey when you play the first few notes of the solo do you tap on 3 strings? Or do you tap on 2 strings and do a pull off after the first note? I know your meant to do pulls off for some bits of the solo but I'm talking about the very first few notes. Did that make any sense lol!

  • @JackoThe1st

Yes, it's 3 different strings. 2nd string with my right hand, 3rd with the index-finger and 4th with the ring-finger.

  • @cataclysmichael damn thats so awkward! thanks mate.

  • Mark Hoppus ?!

  • @josh7788

    Who? :P

  • MassahAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAhHHhHhhH........

  • did you steal the guitar from achokarlos?? xD

  • @Holloweeed

I think he stole mine. Look back at 2006. Do you see him play it in any of his videos like I do here?

Now look back at the recent years. Who do you see play it now and who don't?

    Apparently he stole it!

  • @cataclysmichael

    this son of a bitch^^

  • thank you so much man now i can tabb this shit and have something to follow!

  • "Jizzed In my pants" 2:08 just fucking around man haha this cover was overall on the dot(It was awesome)

  • youtube.com/user/theteapartytruther1 I'm not going away!

  • tuning?

  • @BloodHarvest21 Chaosphere is played on a 7 string tuned 1/2 step down. Later albums are played on an 8 string 1/2 step down. You can replicate the tuning easily on a 6 string with a whammy pedal.

This was a pretty good cover, the last riff is played wrong, and the solo is way off at about the half way point. You should also get a noise gate and crank it up so you can get thier very staticato pauses down. But not bad as a whole.

  • GREAT depiction of the last tapping riff. VERY tricky to figure out (such odd notes)

  • @rbass311

Didn't really figure it out... Just tapped some random stuff. Listen to the original song and you'll hear :P

  • @cataclysmichael AH ok I just now picked it apart it's not exactly dead-on but it sounds good-- it could actually be used as the second guitar on that part it went with it so well!

Ceramic Plates implanted past my ribs to save me from the dues of inhalation!!

    ROAR!! good job

  • @cataclysmichael Dude, it's pretty legit, there are a few notes out, but you got almost all perfect, I didn't see any problem with it.

  • You looked like a mad-angry-retard,

and you played the shit out fo that guitar.

  • GREAT

  • great video. you are really good guitarist. i am trying to learn this song myself, any tips? also you should look into getting the right software/hardware to make the "DJENT" noise, meshuggahs tone. then your cover would be complete

  • @xisumavoid

Just start slow. Once you get your head around it it's not that hard to play. I was still struggling in this video though :P

  • Your face shows SHEER concentration. EXACTLY what you need to play meshuggah. Haha. VERY impressive video dude. Fucking enjoyed it a lot. Well played.

  • lol you look so concentrated trying so keep this fucking insane rhythm! good job

  • when the brightest guitar enters at 1:06 hes playing

    e 7 7

    b 11 11

    over and over again

    it sound way better

  • a little too much bending in the last part, but great work, 5/5

  • amazing skills

  • the rhythm(s) to this song arent hard to get.. but, still job well done.

  • Holy crap man...fucking kickass, well done!

  • DDDDUUUDDDDEE!!!!! you finger tapped that solo so perfectly!!!! hahaha thats gotta take days to figure out hahaha

  • @dxhjkg

Haha. That one was a pain in the ass, although I didn´t learn the whole thing. Got tired and improvised the last bit of it :P

Now I have forgot how to play it... and I´m not relearning it, haha.

  • Did you sell that RG to Achocarlos? hahah. yo two should do a dual Gojira cover!!!

  • Haha, no, he bought it from some other place, then I sold mine :P Didn´t want to have the same guitar as that NOOB! ... just kidding.

  • @cataclysmichael haha. Dude you two and Killrbuckeye are the BEST youtube guitarists. Hey, have you ever heard of a guitar company called Agile?

  • callanmaster is pretty incredible my friend

  • Trivium songs are boring though

  • Thanks man. I know Agile yes. I was very close to order an interceptor about a year ago, but decided to go with another Carvin instead.

  • @PerryDubya what about kirkpetrucci and musicman?

  • @PerryDubya dude AGILE ROCKS!!! im so stoked to buy one of their seven string interceptors!

  • smh & lmmfao, seriously.....that'd be some damn irony right there.....but then again....-shrug-

  • u may hate me for this, but i still think ur cover of future breed mayhem was spectacular, i dont think u didnt a better cover yet

  • This one is pretty old though, older than FBM.

  • not their best song....but it's an awesome cover man

  • Got a few questions for ya michael.

What kind of Pickups are you using?

    What amp/modeler?

And where did you get the transcription for the solo? I cant find one that is accurate, yours seems pretty spot on.

  • In this guitar it was a dimarzio tonezone and air norton. used a marshall jmp-1 preamp. I think I used a guitar pro tab for the solo. It wasn´t 100% but the start of it was pretty decent, the rest of it I just improvised :P

  • what is the "automatic pick" called what you use at 1:05 in the left picture? :D i've seen those before but i dont know what they called

  • Ebow?

  • thanks. btw, S-I-C-K cover man!

  • Thank you!

  • ur intro riff sounds off to me ur adding a extra note or somthing i cant figure it out lol

  • I´m pretty sure it´s correct :P

  • I can never quite nail that intro riff, it is just too damn random. Same with Rational Gaze and In Death is Life intros. Those riffs are all damn complex and I get close, but cant quite get it.

  • It sounds random but it actually isn´t when you´ve learned it. If you think in death is life is random. Try the start of in death is death. I never got my head around that one. Couldn´t find the pattern you know, just completely random and really hard to memorize, haha. Oh, and the start of ´I´ haha, that is actually random, as close as random as it gets at least :P

  • LOL, I wont even attempt In Death-Is Death. That is such a dense song. In Life is intimidating enough.

Catch 33 is such an awesome record.

  • Love the last riff where it fades out!

    Excellent cover there fella!

  • The timing would be hard to get down. Great job man.

  • I simply love this song. Quite good playing dude.

  • fuck yea man, they make me proud to be canadian.

  • Thanks! It´s funny to look back at old videos, hehe. Got to say my videos have improved for the better regarding the video quality and sound the past years ^^,

  • Oh man, amazing, dude. I've seen all your other vids, but somehow this one eluded me until now.

  • Thanks for checking out all my videos man. Even the old ones! ^^,

  • yours covers are out of this world lml keep rockin michael rules lml

  • Thanks for subscribing ^^

  • it's nice to see someone playing all guitar parts for once, haha

    gj man

  • It´s boring to learn, but worth it in the end :P Thanks!

  • Badass, one of Meshuggahs best.

  • Nice job man! You play this great, and congrads on getting so many views, this is awsome

  • fuck you id like to see you write that.

  • lol you wouldnt see me write that cause i dont write shitty songs. I write songs with more than like 2 fucking notes in them.

  • douche its about rhythm

  • sure

  • i would have said the same thing as tb0neZ5 about 2 years ago. Meshuggah arent for the new musician

  • im not exactly a new musician. i havent been playing that long 4 1/2 - 5 years. there is definitely musicianship in these songs, the odd time signatures in stuff, complex picking patterns, but i just think the riffs could be a bit more creative.

  • fair comment, everyone has their opinion i suppose :)

  • dude your a stupid cuntrag honestly, this is practically what meshuggah IS their riffs probably just cant fully grasp your tiny mind long enough for u to understand whats going on

  • what is there to grasp? theres nothing to them. a couple different notes with a wierd picking pattern. i listen to technical death metal on a regular basis this stuff is basic to me.

  • What counts as technical death metal to you?

Could you name a few bands?

  • psycroptic, necrophagist, martyr, the faceless, neuraxis, gorod, decrepit brith, odious mortem etc...

  • I think their riffs (although long at times) are friggin' awesome. I mean they make bending a string and playin' 2-3 notes difficult. that's prrty cool. plus any band with 8-strings is automatically cool.

  • well its all opinion i guess. i dont really feel it, it gets annoying to me sometimes but w/e. and 8 strings doesnt make you automatically cool, it means you have a low F#, or in meshuggahs case an F, that string wont make your riffs any cooler, unless the songwritter is good.

  • true, but I haven't heard any bad 8-string players. I just love the low end bassy stuff. as well as beats/rhythms.

  • well yea most people that dare to play an 8 string are usually skilled. id never go past 7 i wouldnt know what to do.

  • dude what tuning do you use? is it 7-string standard or dropped?

  • It's standard with the 7th string a half step down. I was to lazy to tune the whole guitar down a half step :P

  • oh. cool. is it possible to do the solo on a 6-string on standard? I just want to test myself, and I cant be bothered to tune my guitar to anything else cos i got an upcoming gig.

  • Yes, that's possible.

  • ok thanks man

  • If I had my webcam working, I'd so put my cover of this on.

..even though it's on 6-string acoustic guitar.. which is tuned to DADGBE..

(Heck, I have no problems at all playing it (yay fret tapping).. except that 9/8-10/8 section in the middle.. damn do I keep getting the timing wrong. :P)

  • fav player on youtube

  • man i wish i could do finger tapping!

  • It's not that hard. Harder to play fast without tapping :P

  • This dude did it WAY better than achokarlos.... nice job!

  • great job. check out achokarlos version he plays it with ease.

  • I've seen it. Acho rocks!

  • fucking sick! nice editing as well.

  • Nice work bro! But personally I would lower the Mid a bit :P

  • @I3lackArrow commenting on tone is a back handed way of talking shit. its a good video deal with it.

  • wow i didnt think anyone could play that but meshuggah themselves. very impressive dude!! :O

  • yeah same here. on ObZen it took them six months just to learn there own songs. This guy play this as well as all there other stuff next to perfectly

  • You did an excellent job!!! Meshuggah would be proud.

  • I'm trying to achieve their tone from the album. Has anyone come close to that dry, aggressive industrail sounding tone?

  • They use 8 string guitars, that's the point

  • They used seven strings up until Nothing came out.

  • lundgren pickups and Line 6 amps

  • tunning?

  • Half step down.

  • Brilliant play, dude! Keep up the good work!!!

  • This is great man! Really hard song to play without getting lost at SOME point.

  • Nice tone!

  • good job

  • you got my respect bro.

  • haha dude you own

  • there 8 string guitars 30.5 inch scale and a 52 and a 70 are on top aof a normal gauged set of strings. all tuned standard down to flat wich would be e flat on a six. regular intervals

  • amazing vid man

    great editing

  • Suck

  • this song is fucking easy

    play it in standard

    how shit wud it sound

  • wow you play meshuggah sounds easy but they are far from it

  • their rhythms can get very complicated

  • Could you possibly do this on an acoustic? It sounds awesome and your technique is amazing. I'd love to hear an acousic version.

  • Acoustic Meshuggah are you crazy!

  • I have a question, what amp/setting do the guitarist in Meshuggah use? I tune my 7 string down and BAM, instant shit. I can't seem to get a good sound to use with Meshuggah songs, what is your advice? Oh, I use solid state amps (i know others mainly hate them but I love the sound, it gets a nice clip and sounds more edgy) but I don't know if that changes the outcome of a Meshuggah style riff. EIther way, good job here, please keep it up! \\m// (--.--) \\m//

  • They use Line6 Vetta II. I'm not sure exactly what you mean with instant shit.

Maybe you should try to change the pickup. I use a lundgren in the bridge in my other ibanez (same pickup as meshuggah use) it is also an extended skale 7-string with 27" neck, so that definitely helps it keep the tightness even at low tunings. I'm really happy with it, I replaced the universe with it actually, just sold my UV.

    watch?v=XCTL2bQAZ1o

    There you have it ^^

  • The sound just rumbles and doesn't come through as clear. I will try setting my pickups a bit higher and play with them. I'll just have to screw around with it. Though I'm tuing down to F and Bflat. Perhaps its the string guage. Either way, you are very talented and helped alot. I know what to look for now. Thank you very much.

  • probably the string gauge, get heavier ones and theyl pick up the slack for ya

  • meshuggah uses 8 string guitars. They use a bass string for the F#, so it maintains a normal tension.

  • they use 8 on obzen but most of there old songs are 7

  • how much was that e-bow?

  • I don't remember. Around $100 or something.

  • wow fuck that lol u should do a sol niger within medley cover now

  • can you please tell me how much that ibanez costs?i want that axe!

  • I just sold that a couple of weeks ago actually, I sold it for 16000 (eur). Bought it used many years ago for about 14500...

  • 16000 € or 1600 €?

  • Hmmm... wtf? I must have been drunk or something when I wrote that. I bought it used for about 1100€, and sold it for 1200€. I actually earned some money on that one ^^ Well, not really, it was pretty smashed up when I bought it so I had to pay for some repairwork and stuff...

  • haha, this prize is better for the normal humans xd

  • 3 fucking words.

    You're heavy.

    |m|

  • Thanks. I made the video yes. But the music is made by Meshuggah (you probably know that, but just in case you didn't know). Feel free to post it at your site. I would rather go with one of my other meshuggah covers though, like the latest one, bleed, I just uploaded that a couple of days ago. Better picture, sound, playing, editing, all over a better video IMO.

  • fuk yeh man thats sounds sikk!!!!!

  • New meshuggah vid coming up today ;)

  • hey can you do the fredrik thordendal / morgan argen jam? you know the one Im talking about? yeah please

  • I know the one, but I was thinking about doing bleed, from the latest album =)

  • :O please do bleed.youll be the first to cover it!

  • Later this week. Let's say in the end of this week it will be up ;)

  • are you counting? you must have a good ear or something. I can barely tell its 4/4

  • In the start I ahve to count, when you've played it a couple of times you kind of here what's coming without counting, you know? I did have to count in some parts of this video though...

  • Well done! Personally I have a hard time keeping track of where I'm at, trying to count but I always think of something else and get lost :) Good job man, impressive!

  • Thanks. You can see how consentrated I am :P

I'm working on bleed now, from the latest album, that shit is even more difficult :\

  • I checked that (Bleed) out as well. not too technical but I don't have the stamina to keep up for even half of the song.

  • LOL. You proed everything including the solo but your bends were pretty awful. ^^

  • I agree, thats the only bad thing I can say about this video, the bends sounded a bit.......off

  • good but those super long notes are played as octaves like

    236

    xxx

    014

    fingered that way

  • Nice Playing The Originaly Tuned is Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb though..

  • Great playing, tone is horrible.

  • what tunning you use?

  • Bb-E-A-D-G-B-E ... it's originally played in Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb though..

  • the best meshuggah cover on youtube \,,/

  • dude, were did u download ur guitar pro? coz i only have the demo version and its already finish..

  • buy it! :P

  • eii! i feel like a baby on guitar after checkig your videos!! it make me depresd :..(

But you r a great influence to improve my skill!!jejej

Do you play in any band it sure by interenting!!

    Greetins from Basque Contry!!!

    (sorry abaut my english!! 8S)

  • did you learn it using the NMCC powertab?

  • I used a guitar pro tab...

  • do some songs off therir new album

  • good job mayne

  • How are you tuned? It looks weird. Nice playing anyway, I'm trying to learn this and it's a bit of a pain really :D

  • Standard 7-string tuning tuning with the 7th string a half step down (BbEADGBE)

  • That what I was thinking hehe, thx. Nice 8 string btw :)

  • It's hell to tune a guitar with floyd rose so I just took the easy way :P Good luck with the song ;)

  • Hehe thx, I tune Bb standard on a baritone :) You should get a tremol-no and lock that floyd in dive only.

  • Nice! I like the crunchy sound..

  • yeah good job man !

  • dude u rock

  • good job.

  • dude amazing job loved it! 5 stars fo sho
