To be honest, I think I came here a few years ago as an agnostic. I have since returned to Christ proudly!! And I will have to admit, Christian rock could use a lot more evangelism...Some bands I didn't even know were Christian, and you can't tell. I don't know about the backmasking thing though. When rhythm comes to the fore front (as it does in rock) it becomes a tool to control the emotions.

PS: I listened to rock music for many years. And I find it very magnetic; I'm drawn to it and can climb down inside of it emotionally at times. A rock beat is addicting. . . it can make me soar like an eagle or cry like a baby. But I don't like my emotions being in control. So I listen to music that keeps me on an even keel, level and clear headed.

How is it that the 'genre' (ie. rock music) supersedes the truths being expressed? The bands I have mentioned are Bible believing brothers and sisters who work hard in expressing the love of God, and share their faith in a way that relates to the people they aim to reach. For one, I am very out spoken about my faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am also very much against the misrepresentation of the gospel such as doctrinally unsound churches and teachings. Wow. Saying that these artists do this for the money is stupid especially when u realize that Christian music has the lowest profit margine of any music on the market. I personally know Amy G, Michael W and Toby Macand I can tell you these are Godly men and women of God. So silly. I've known Amy for about 6 or 7 years after doing quite a few shows at the same places. I know Toby really well. My wife was part of his management team for a long while at 'True Artist Management' here in Franklin Tn. She quit 2 years ago to stay at home with our 4 children since I'm on the road so much. Think about it for a moment. Where DOES the whole feeling of hysteria come from? Young girls screaming for the Beatles etc, people fainting and trampling on people at rock concerts as they become slave to the music, and their idols. I personally think the notion Christian Rock is evil is unbiblical in itself, but taking a reasonable debate to the point of bickering isn't beneficial to the Kingdom at all! Remember what Paul wrote about eating meat in Romans - it's not wrong, but if it's hurting your brother's conscience, then you should be sensitive to him. To be honest, I think I came here a few years ago as an agnostic. I have since returned to Christ proudly!! And I will have to admit, Christian rock could use a lot more evangelism...Some bands I didn't even know were Christian, and you can't tell. I don't know about the backmasking thing though. I think we need to pray for some of these Christian groups.

Rhythm is necessary and beautiful, EXCEPT, when it comes to the forefront. What I mean is this: music is made of the melody, harmony, and rhythm. They all cooperate and each has its place. The Melody is the foremost important; it is what makes the song, then harmony, and last (but not least) rhythm. Rhythm is the under tone carrying the song along. When rhythm comes to the fore front (as it does in rock) it becomes a tool to control the emotions.

PS: I listened to rock music for many years. And I find it very magnetic; I'm drawn to it and can climb down inside of it emotionally at times. A rock beat is addicting. . . it can make me soar like an eagle or cry like a baby. But I don't like my emotions being in control. So I listen to music that keeps me on an even keel, level and clear headed.

I really like Fernando Ortega, Chris Rice, Selah for spiritual music; But not the songs w/overwhelming beat. . . I find it so abrasive. Lived in NYC for 10 y. . walk down the street and feel your body being controlled by the beat on someone's radio; I like a beat, but not to hit me over the head. Secular? Westlife does a great job with "Love Can Build a Bridge; i've mellowed.

How is it that the 'genre' (ie. rock music) supersedes the truths being expressed? The bands I have mentioned are Bible believing brothers and sisters who work hard in expressing the love of God, and share their faith in a way that relates to the people they aim to reach. Many of their songs are in fact scripture put to music. K

Man, it just seems like you can take just about anything and relate it to satanism... I believe that Satan imitates God (star of David, pentagram, / number of perfection 7, 6 or 666,/ lamb, goat,/ etc...) I think you are giving too much credit to Satan. If even the triangle and the number 7 can be used for satanic rituals, I guess that just about anything in the bible can also be used for satanic rituals. I don't just pick any Christian rock music, the music I picked out are either from artists I know personally or I know their walk with the Lord and I know their message is right on. U judge them by their fruits. Not by the style of music they play. The message is in the lyrics....music is music...just instrumental noise. Doesnt make it satanic just because you play it at a higher decibel. I know some christian rock artists personally and I know their hearts. Yes, some got started in christian music industry then later lose sight of they mission and maybe even turn cold. But, u need to stop generalizing ALL Christian artists...when u dont even know them.

Besides isn't the true and foremost defense of our spiritual lives are our local church and sound doctrine? Shouldn't we encourage and teach people to get into the Word foremost instead of chasing what may have been spawned off by bad teachings? Wow. Saying that these artists do this for the money is stupid especially when u realize that Christian music has the lowest profit margine of any music on the market. I personally know Amy G, Michael W and Toby Macand I can tell you these are Godly men and women of God. So silly. I've known Amy for about 6 or 7 years after doing quite a few shows at the same places. I know Toby really well. My wife was part of his management team for a long while at 'True Artist Management' here in Franklin Tn. She quit 2 years ago to stay at home with our 4 children since I'm on the road so much. I understand that some "christian rock" bands are not sharing a very "christian" message, but I also KNOW that many Christian Rock bands DO deliver gospel centered messages, do not attack the genre/style of music. all though Rock N Roll may have started out being very secular/humanistic and far from God it does not mean God can not make something good come out of it. There is NO scripture that talks about specific music, it just says to praise God through music and glorify him in everything.

The term Christian Rock is an oxymoron. Rock n Roll means to (in a nutshell) disturb the peace and engage in immoral sexual activity. It's kind of like saying Christian porn, ir Christian casino. Christians have no business trying to fit in with the world, even if it is supposedly to meet people where they are. Since rock music has been around, rebellion has been rife.

Hot songs have a formula. A certain length of time, certain melody, certain rythm, certain beat. "They" (and just who ARE "they"?) had been doing experiments on the effects of music on peoples' behaviour for years before rock n roll was let loose, and to certainly cause havoc that's for sure!

Think about it for a moment. Where DOES the whole feeling of hysteria come from? Young girls screaming for the Beatles etc, people fainting and trampling on people at rock concerts as they become slave to the music, and their idols. Or more like a slave to the POWERS behind the music. That's the whold point of rock n roll music, to cause havoc. Therefore, the term Christian rock is actually blasphemous.

I hate when people call christian contemporary music "rock" that is not even close to rock. most of the real christian rock bands are so much more committed to God and spreading his word like For Today, August Burns Red, Skillet, Disciple, Brian "Head" Welch, Pillar, Underoath and many more. Their lyrics are evident as well as their everyday lives who they are working for. Contemporary in my opinion has become such a joke for money making. 2nd of all. Jesus had long hair did he not?
