Never The Same: Coming To Terms with the Death of a Parent

The Douggie center was named after Dougie Turno a friend of mine in childhood. He died from cancer. My Mom Deanna Edwards died reciently and she was the one who introduced us and she was verry instturmental helping him deal with his illness.

I wish this knowledge had been available to me. I came here, actually, because I spent the last few hours sobbing. I suffer PTSD and depression. My grandmother was my primary caregiver who died when I was nine and I didn't get the help I needed. I struggled through school and then just a few years after graduating my father who'd been my next caregiver passed away. I'll be 25 in a few weeks and still struggle, as will my 3 year old half brother. This will help me help him.
