I too am an Emergency! fan. I was at the station in May of 2011, and the firefighters were very friendly and showed us around, too. Their little 'gift shop' with shirts and patches was very cool. Many thanks to the people who work there, very courteous!

Hi all, it's so wonderful how much this show is still loved. FYI- this Saturday July 9th, 10:00am - 4:00pm Station 127 will be celebrating the Emergency 51 Show with firefighting demos, apparatus displays, BBQ, Live Band and appearances by Mantooth and Stoker
Wow, thanks for the tour, I really enjoy it, I still remember the first time I watched the first episode back in 1973, was 12 and fell in love with the series, now 38 years later I.m very fortunate to have the whole colection of Emergency! on dvd, Randolph and Kevin became huge Stars in my country Guatemala. EMERGENCY! ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER!!!
Doctor Kelly Brackett & Doctor Joe Early are the best doctors in Rampart General Hospital.and Fire Fighter Roy Desoto & FF Johnny Gage are the best firefighters in the LA County Fire Station 51.
Thank you for posting this. I really enjoyed it. That was my favorite show as a kid. The whole neighborhood use to play Emergency on our bikes. Saturday mornings were a bunch of kids on bikes making siren voices. Pretty funny. Thanks!

I wonder how many people come by that station EVERY day making their pilgrimage to pay homage? it almost has to be, like, "guys here comes another one. put on the happy face." etc,. Don't get me wrong. This TV show completely shaped my life as it has countless others. I'm just saying... wonder how it is for those guys?
What a scene to see the barracks and kitchen! Thanks for posting. As a kid I not only watched the show religiously but I also tried to walk and talk like John Gage.
Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to share this video. Has always been a goal to see it in person one day. Nice to see it hasn't changed much from the original. Again, thank you.
I know this may sound ridiculous to many... but I would really love to visit this fire station. I think the guys were fantastic to let people go in and make videos. To some of us, "Emergency!," is truly one of our dearest childhood memories!!!
I feel like a kid again watching the show. Johnny Gage's locker is still there. If I was one of the firefighters, I would beg for that locker.
It would be such a thrill to take that tour. They would think I was some kind of a psycho because I would be hugging that locker and jumping in Johnny's bed.
This is so cool. Other than the new tv and appliances, the place hasn't changed much at all. It is so neat that the series was filmed in that building instead of some Hollywood studio.
I would be such a nerd if I had the opportunity to walk through there. I would just be in awe.
I have been enjoying the dvd's of Emergency thanks to a good friend of mine so to see this video of how things haven't changed much since the show was incredible. Oh WOW!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! From the bottom of my heart, from Melbourne, Australia! I'm a HUGE Emergency! Fan. I even became an Emergency Nurse because of this show. Your video tour was almost as good as being there. THANKS again!
I really love this video and must make it a point to visit here. I am so thankfull to the firefighters for letting this video be shot and their kindness. There will forever be Johnny and Roy fans. Great Job!!!!!
Great stuff. I also got a tour of the station, in May 2010, and it was a pretty big thrill for somebody who watched the show as a teenager back in the 70s (when it comes to fire stations and stuff, we guys never really grow up, do we? Fortunately the firefighters at Station 127 know that and are very gracious in giving tours).
@Darthvader710 it's "Harbor-UCLA Medical Center" ....if you google map it and go to the street view, you can see where the ambulances went, and where the squad parked.

My Uncle took my brother and myself in the 1970's when it looked more like the TV intro, but years go by and things change, but as a kid it was totally a dream come true to see station 127(51) ,back then there was no Youtube so thanks for sharing.
I was there in 98 or so. Didn't have video camera, but the kitchen cabinets are different they told me the whole kitchen was to be gutted within a few months, but I guess they only did the cabinets. Great video though. Miss being there.
Restodan that's awesome filming around the station, that's one station I must visit if I ever come over to the States. Loved Emergency when I was a kid and still now, in the 70's it was prime time 19:00hrs every week night here. I've just retired after 20 years as a Paramedic here on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia and I'm pretty sure Emergency influenced not only me but many others to become Paramedics.
@restodan i would love to go one day that is my dream to sse the squad and engine and the station. i still use there numbers are almost everything from ,y cell phone name to internet names.
How Lucky are you ? I use to watch this show as a kid. I wish I could have the chance to see this in reality. I'm flooded with memories of what a great show it was.
I knew a friend who was taking an elective course at the "Rampart" hospital. It's called Harbor-UCLA and it actually still looks the same on the outside of the building. They repainted most of the walls white and did some expansions though, but overall it still has the same look. The dorms still have a 70s-80s look.
A few of the things different in this station compared to the one on TV is the stove, the ovens, the fridge and the location of the doorway which was right next to the phone to the left of the door as you walked in.
How cool ... The only two that are missing are Henry and Boot .. the mascots. Oh, and don't forget the couch that Henry lounged on all the time. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us.
I was in the LA area this week and also stopped by the station - the on duty crew could not have been any nicer. Thanks for posting this. As a kid, every Saturday night, before taking a bath, I would watch "Emergency." At the time, I wanted to be a fire fighter so I was enthralled with it.
BTW, the episode of "Emergency" that was on in the break room during your visit, I believe is the one where singer Bobby Sherman played a cocky young doctor that instructed the paramedics to give a patient a very dangerous dose of drugs. If memory serves, the paramedics ended up calling a different hospital.
@shooster11 Very close. He wanted them to counter shock the pt. he was reading a different rythm than the medics. so they called st. francis. He did do a ride along with them and helped them save another patiens life during a refinery fire.
@shooster11 yes you are correct .when paramedic roy desoto used the bia phone to call rampart he had dr brackett for only a few moment when he was called to another patient room he let that new intern dr take 51,s call he was reading one thing and roy and johnny saw something else so when sherman messed up his advice roy switched to the other hospital for there diagnois treatment but they still took there patient to rampart general . brackett &early listened to call and agreed with roy& john
@shooster11 There was a problem with the EKG telemetry system. The doctor was seeing one rhythm while Johnny and Roy saw another, thus the confusion on treatment. 51 contacted another hospital and their interpretation was confirmed. Great episode!
If the person asking means at the door for visitors, I think they do...we went in November of 2008 and I had to ring the buzzer at the door. :o) They are really great about visitors, I'm glad you got to go!

Masonry is murder !
At elast it was in Jersey, where they found the childrens bodies built into THE MASONRY !
They ve only got to ifnd which building firm did it, but they cant, cus they are aLL maosns in jersey - but HUSH HUSH, nudge nudge, wink wink, and all the evidence has VANISHED form the SECURE POLICE HOLDING ROOMS.
Now ask yourself WHY, people ! WHY ?
Because police and masons bugger children to death, in satanic rituals, all over the uk !
Amazing, usually a show just uses the exterior shots, but use a studio or backlot to film interior stuff. Would have never guessed that it was all real. Thanks for posting this.
Yes and no. There was some location shots done here at Station 127. Most were done at a sound stage at Universal. A 2/3 scale set of this station was built for most interior shoting. If you watch the show you will notice the bays are smaller on the stage set vs location shots.
Great video!! The bushes along the back wall have grown. in the series you could see the freeway in the back. I think it is the 405. I watched this show every saturday night on channel 4 at 8 oclock. I never missed it. I have a t.v. guide with the cast on front. And i have the toy helmet from 1975. The fuel tank out front was not their as well during the show. I am glad that they have not changed the station. Too bad we dont have shows like this anymore for kids. Ditto for adam 12.
@barmtrail Yeah, I have long given up on todays TV, especially for my young girls. You can't even watch kid shows on TV now without having seeing gory violent commercials for like CSI or some other depressing grose show. I have complete collections of Adam-12 Leaveit to Beaver, The Fugitive and other 50's-60's shows on DVD's, to offset all the junk that is on now. Also Bullwinkle, LOL
Awesome... good tour for this fire station... great moments in tv show. I am Paramedic (EMT) in México, City. i see tv serie in 70´s when iam a kid. Congratulations and good look!!!
@fdnyemt5330 Do you know when they moved out of it, like a long time ago or just recently? I build fighter jets and my desk is just behind the plant EMS building so I hear all the calls and its amazing how quickly they get rolling. A friend of mine lives next to "Dr. Bracket" here in TX. I havent met him yet. Another show I'm a big fan of is The Fugitive with David Jansen. Thats a good picture of simpler times and well writen.
@restodan Just out of curiosity .. in what general area of Texas does Robert Fuller ("Dr. Brackett") live? I wonder if it's near Chuck Norris and his family.
@fdnyemt5330 ....I hope they aren't planning on tearing down the LAPD HQ? Have you herd of such? Sounds like we have the same tastes here. I have the whole series of Adam 12 and Dragnet and 2 seasons of emergency on DVD. Adam 12 is my favorite, I like to view all the60's early70's LA scenes and all the cool old cars cruising the streets. I used to watch these shows when they were new, fav then and now.
Thanks for the post. Loved the show as a kid. Just a FYI, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the FD Dep. Chief's who worked with Jack Webb on the show. He told me they filmed some here at Station 127 and had a set bulit on a sound stage at Univeral (it was a smaler scale) that they used for interior shots of Station 51 and Rampart Hospital. If you watch the show you can tell the difference. The storage doors on the right are less and the County map is smaller.
That is so cool you were able to get that all on video. That was one of my favorite shows as a kid, and I have the first 4 seasons on dvd. I wasn't sure if the interior scenes were shot there, but now I know. It's cool to see it still looks the same after more than 30 years.
Yeah, I couldn't believe it still looked the same and was the actual place they filmed the inside shots too, thats why I had to grab my camera and load it on here, I'm glad others are enjoying it too, thanks!
the guys here were really nice. i made a special trip to la just to see this station. didn't know how to get there or anything just knew the address. landed at the airport and asked general directions. while i was on a bus heading there i passed another station (stn 10) and so i jumped off the bus and went in, they too were real nice, went for lunch with them and chatted then they got me to station 127. best day ever. out of a 3 month round the world trip from australia this was a huge highlite.
KMG365 is the radio station call sign for the LA County FD.... they did the same in DRAGNET KMA367 for City of Los Angeles PD.... the same principle as WABC or KABC for you westerners
or how about "KMG365" I believe this was said in every episode, atleast once....trivia here, when was it said? and what does it mean? and also said in every epsode..."hey look out !!!! its gona BLOW!!!!" ....LOL
As I've been told by a friend of mine who is a fireman, when they pull out of the station to a call, they announce what radio frequency they are on...??? I had asked because I noticed that they always say that on the radio as they are pulling out of station 51.

@shooster11 yeah roy called into a hospital called st francis and advised upon receiving instructions that they were transporting patient to rampart
bunkieb00 1 year ago
@shooster11 You're absolutely right! The name of the episode was "Fools." You have a great memory! :-)
MyFreedomChannel 1 year ago
@shooster11 Very close. He wanted them to counter shock the pt. he was reading a different rythm than the medics. so they called st. francis. He did do a ride along with them and helped them save another patiens life during a refinery fire.
CTFD13 1 year ago
@shooster11 yes you are correct .when paramedic roy desoto used the bia phone to call rampart he had dr brackett for only a few moment when he was called to another patient room he let that new intern dr take 51,s call he was reading one thing and roy and johnny saw something else so when sherman messed up his advice roy switched to the other hospital for there diagnois treatment but they still took there patient to rampart general . brackett &early listened to call and agreed with roy& john
boppinbob05 1 year ago
@shooster11 There was a problem with the EKG telemetry system. The doctor was seeing one rhythm while Johnny and Roy saw another, thus the confusion on treatment. 51 contacted another hospital and their interpretation was confirmed. Great episode!

do they still use the old Famous Station Buzzer?
RailsandRoads 2 years ago
@RailsandRoads I don't know, I should have asked. They didn't get a call while I was there.
restodan 2 years ago
@restodan
If the person asking means at the door for visitors, I think they do...we went in November of 2008 and I had to ring the buzzer at the door. :o) They are really great about visitors, I'm glad you got to go!

@restodan Didn't the guy say the tones are different?
BTW, the guy who played DR. Brackett was Robert Fuller.
MIKECNW 1 year ago
@restodan LACoFD quit using those tones in the mid-90s.
nubbie1944 1 year ago
@restodan
Listen carefully at 03:22 when the firefighter says that the tones have changed due to an upgrade in the system.
4emsteph 1 year ago
@RailsandRoads are you talking about the tones? he says at 3:23 that they dont anymore

CHECK THEIR BASEMENTS !!!

That's interesting that Truck 127 now has a tractor-drawn aerial. Before this, they had either the infamous Crown Snorkel or a ladder tower.

They were A Shift, not C!!! Iheard in an episode, but forgot which one.

Amazing, usually a show just uses the exterior shots, but use a studio or backlot to film interior stuff. Would have never guessed that it was all real. Thanks for posting this.
TitaniumByFire 2 years ago
@TitaniumByFire ...yeah, thats what got me as they let me look around. I had to grab my camera and show others it was real!
restodan 2 years ago
Yes and no. There was some location shots done here at Station 127. Most were done at a sound stage at Universal. A 2/3 scale set of this station was built for most interior shoting. If you watch the show you will notice the bays are smaller on the stage set vs location shots.
mjm4222 2 years ago
@mjm4222 wow, are you there at station 127? I hope yall don't mind this video, it makes people's day.
restodan 2 years ago
No, i knew someone who had ties to the show and told me the history. Real cool stuff. Love you video!!!
mjm4222 2 years ago
@mjm4222 also, some seens are shot in impossible angles in the engine bay, so they were done on the sound stages.

Ditto for adam 12.
barmtrail 2 years ago
@barmtrail Yeah, I have long given up on todays TV, especially for my young girls. You can't even watch kid shows on TV now without having seeing gory violent commercials for like CSI or some other depressing grose show. I have complete collections of Adam-12 Leaveit to Beaver, The Fugitive and other 50's-60's shows on DVD's, to offset all the junk that is on now. Also Bullwinkle, LOL

@restodan I'm 13 years old, and i watch Emergency! on hulu everyday after school. I've grown out of spongebob, hate MTV, vh1, CSI, and all that crap

MyFreedomChannel 1 year ago
@fdnyemt5330 ....I hope they aren't planning on tearing down the LAPD HQ? Have you herd of such? Sounds like we have the same tastes here. I have the whole series of Adam 12 and Dragnet and 2 seasons of emergency on DVD. Adam 12 is my favorite, I like to view all the60's early70's LA scenes and all the cool old cars cruising the streets. I used to watch these shows when they were new, fav then and now.

This video was so cool. I have the 1st 5 seasons on dvd and my kids have watched the show
iloveretro77 2 years ago
Thanks for the post. Loved the show as a kid. Just a FYI, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the FD Dep. Chief's who worked with Jack Webb on the show. He told me they filmed some here at Station 127 and had a set bulit on a sound stage at Univeral (it was a smaler scale) that they used for interior shots of Station 51 and Rampart Hospital. If you watch the show you can tell the difference. The storage doors on the right are less and the County map is smaller.
mjm4222 2 years ago
That is so cool you were able to get that all on video. That was one of my favorite shows as a kid, and I have the first 4 seasons on dvd. I wasn't sure if the interior scenes were shot there, but now I know. It's cool to see it still looks the same after more than 30 years.
legoguy918 2 years ago

Hey, thanks for the info, it had been awhile since I had herd what the KMG365 meant, so I must have forgotten some of the details.

As I've been told by a friend of mine who is a fireman, when they pull out of the station to a call, they announce what radio frequency they are on...??? I had asked because I noticed that they always say that on the radio as they are pulling out of station 51.
