  • Was her sister going to invite her in??? Gggeeeezzzzzz

  • dude this family just keeps having bad luck i feel so bad for lizs sister ;(

  • to city kids trains is a second home ;)

  • im only 13 years old and liz inspired me so much i cryed watching this movie and also though about the things i have that im not greatful for and how i want more. But watching this movie told me liz had nothing she had to survive on her own she had to get to school and make sure she had money to eat and to keep her safe now looking back i feel more greatful and happy for the things i have and how my parents are working really hard

  • her sister should have helped her

  • Liz Murray is such a huge inspiration to me because where most people would have given in to excuses like " I'm homeless, I can't go to school" or "I'm too far behind, I can't catch up", she moved forward.

  • Wow the scholarship that offers her $12,000 every year for four years...the essay topic is made just for her! ON THE OTHER HAND, normal people in reality like us get topics like "who made an impact in your life" or "write about an issue of importance to you".....

  • There was a gap between Liz and her friend, it's not actually jealousy. They chose different ways of life.

  • If she was on the D train, it wouldn't run at 8th avenue and 14th. In fact the D doesn't run at 14th. At 8th avenue and 14th the A C E and L train runs. Just a little fact. :-P

  • @ImNotYourFriend212 that is so nerdy of you! :) lol

  • @qatartube2011 Lol I know. :-P

  • Im supposed to be asleep! but I cant help but watch this film heheh!

  • @lola01ization lol ur not the only one its 11:17pm and i hav school in the morning

  • "i will be a garbage man,i will be a prostitute" lol

  • I think Liz totally lied about her situation. I'm not saying she didn't have a hard childhood, but it was very interesting when she told her sister she got the scholarship because she's homeless, and her sister said "no you're not, you could live here." Liz chose to leave home, she ran away over a teenage fight with her Poppa. I don't think this girl is entirely telling the truth. I think she worked out if she tells people her sob story they'll feel sorry for her and she'll get handouts.

  • garbage man?

    prostitute?

    seriously?

has this Chris girl gone completely insane or something?

  • Jee i wonder how Chris felt when she found out that a damn movie was made about Liz? lol

  • One question Does she get a boy friend?

  • they should make a movie called "harvard to homeless"

  • HER friend probably just feels alone now since liz is on point with her skool work i actually dont think its jealousy maybe a slight bit of jealousy but not exactly..put yourself in chris's shoes..

  • Why is her sister going blind? Okay so she was homeless, her grandpa hit her, her dad and mom god AIDs, her sister is going blind... poor girl. Good thing she was intelligent.

  • @Thewaterofthepool remember her mother was kind of blind as well...she said it at the beginning

  • mr. stults loves men!

  • Ok i was wondering throughout all the time she was homeless, i know she may have ate and got clothes out of dumpsters or from the money she earned while working, but what did she do about her hygiene, and her biological/feminine needs?

  • @relimes in the book she washed at friends' houses and in public washrooms.

  • @relimes.. am sure you're not asking the very detailed portrayal of how liz lives bfore.. u sure know there are lots of public toilet out there where we can wash or take a bath, right?

  • can you imagine liz murray once livin the poor harsh life she did as a kid is now, not only got a degree from harvard, but has more money than god resulting from her fame made by this movie.

  • Why does she keep saying she's homeless? She's not homeless anymore, she's in a group home

  • @loveub88 her friend isnt feeling unsupportive she is what is called jaded she know longer believes people actually want to help without asking for something in return

  • This film makes me wish i'd have gone to school more :(

  • I totally understand her best friend's reaction. My situation was similar to hers, except I was never homeless. My best friend at 17 was high school dropout and homeless. When I first got admitted into undergraduate programs at Standford, MIT and Berkeley, my best friend was very defensive. He feared he might never talk to me again. He was soo wrong!!!

  • chris sucks she should be happy for liz who going places in her life.

  • chirs her friend was jealous because she didn:t get a chance to go to school too.liz trying to go to school and make something for her life i liked that in liz.

  • dude, her friend is a BITCH

  • Chris needs to learn some self-respect. A problem with a bunch of teens is that they have no self-respect or dreams

  • she is jealous.

  • well when a person choses right choices in life and climb out of shit whole sometimes others want to bring you down because they are still stuck in that same shit whole,

  • what the fuck why cant her "friend" just be happy for her...

  • at the end, her best friend , will go to school too, it is writted in italian ....

  • @lucianparkour nooo it said her friend got a steady job, nothin about goin to school.

  • @loveub88 because her friend is so traumatized...she's lived a weirder harder life than liz...she's been so hardheaded and brainwashed that she is trash

  • @loveub88 THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING TOO!

  • trying to answer Grrl1234's question here...: could be jealousy, that Liz has the opportunity to actually get her life back together again. she might feel that it's unfair, that Liz has the brains to do it. or it could be she feels betrayed, since they're best friends, she might be feeling that Liz is abandoning her...

    anyone else got an opinion?

  • @MiNekona I agree. It could also be that looking at a world that would take so much effort and desire is something she can't comprehend. She's just surviving from day to day. She has a mind set that she's trash and that's all she'll ever be. Who has told her differently? I just can't take in that 15 year olds could get lost like this and adults could treat them as they do. "Man's inhumanity toward man. . "

  • "For the first time, my life had some order i could count on." Awesome thought coming from Liz, whose previous life was chaotic and unpredictable. I am glad that she is getting a new life and some stability

  • Great movie. And yeah that's totally Dal. I remember when they filmed it there.

  • Where ? in Cincinatti ?

  • No, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

  • at the end, it's a text in italian, you shoud check the translation, it;s written in the comments at the 9th part :)

  • That's not harvard!!!! HAHAHA that's dalhousie university!! I go to dal so i should know lmao
